Sir Tim and his father were spelunking when they found a mysterious suit of crystal armor. Of course, Tim’s father was seriously hurt! In desperation, Tim ran to the nearby Kingdom of Aylea to beg the King for a legendary healing herb to heal his father.
It was not to be; the land is besieged by Evil Lords! And, as you wear the Crystal Armor, guess who’s the only one who can stop them?

Hello Heroes!
I’ve administered the official v1.1 bugfix patch to The Hero’s Journey! Here’s what changed:
Pause Menu – There was a bug in how the Enter key was bound, that caused it to be necessary to spam Enter to pause or unpause the game. Now, a single press toggles the game’s pause state.
Combat Physics – One of the complaints about combat was that the physics felt wrong – the player’s attacks were too forceful! I reduced the player’s attack force to a more reasonable level. I also added a slight force feedback effect to enemies when they are hit.
Interact and Attack Separate – Tim has had problems with his mental state since surviving the cave-in that injured his father; this manifested in the form of Tim trying to stab the head of people he was trying to speak to. After intense developer therapy, we have cured Sir Tim of his chronic Head-Stab-itis by separating the attack key (X) out from the interact key (Z).
Side-Quest – Dragoon Kayn was reported to eitiher unspawn or become unresponsive at a certain point in the main storyline. This has been fixed.
Instructions – Added an instructions pane to the title screen, since different sites communicate play instructions slightly differently.
Title GUI Cleanup – Let’s not mince words: the tile screen was ugly before. I cleaned it up to be tidier, and more visually appealing.
Map Escape – A player found a mountain that could be crossed on the Aylea map. I fixed the mountains to prevent anyone from escaping the land of Aylea before their quest is complete, even directly into the ocean.
I always love player feedback, so please play and enjoy the game! If you find anything I should change, give me a note so I can get to patching it.
As always, thank you for supporting The Hero’s Journey – and, if you want more games like this, consider a more substantial show of support, by donating to my Patreon campaign so I can keep the free games coming!

Good Concept, Combat system needs a bit of a tweak. Maybe an increased knockback or longer swing range for the main character. currently it's mostly just crouch, slash and hope.
The knockback has been altered both for the player and the enemies slightly; hitting an enemy also applies a very small amount of knockback, and the strength of knockback in general has been altered to be less erratic.

A decent game, though the mixture of 2d and 3d threw me off a little. Also, it lags fairly significantly, and the black screens are pretty long. I don't know if that's a bug, or just something to deal with. Keep working!
I'm looking into what may be causing this issue for the 1.2 patch, as well as some other things to help some players.

Ignore my comment. Apparently I just didn't have my headphones on. *clonks self on head*
I've separated interaction from attack (X and Z, respectively). Please, play again and let me know how it feels!

The armor banging sound is way too noisy! Ear rape I say! Also, when I saved and exited, I noticed a heart I found in the first cave was gone...until I got back in the cave...mysterious glitch^^. At first glance, I'd say the game looks a bit sketchy on the world map but thinking each other has it's own style, I'd say it's no big deal. But please, have mercy for people in the second dungeon...these long lines and death just made me rage quit. Beside this, I'd say it's ok for a game, I enjoyed what I saw so far.

Not bad, though it definitely needs music and sound effects. Also, I would remap jump to the up key, and separate the attack and interact keys into X and Z respectively.
