The Soccer Player Manager 2016 is a top-down managerial/arcade football game
You can become the Player-Manager of a third division football team in this innovative action-strategy hybrid. The game features over 3000 real teams from all over the world with thousands players to buy and sell, each with 8 different physical and mental skills rated, and you can choose which position to play these in. Four tactical systems are provided, but you can design your own and put it to the test in various situations using a raytrace system. Training sessions are presented visually, allowing you to pinpoint the exact ability and potential of a player.
The playing side of the game uses the a top-down game engine with 3 difficulty levels and 3 gameplay speeds. After a few seasons your player’s ability fades and you eventually have to retire form playing and concentrate on management.

S = REPLAY SPEED
F2 (or key 4)= SAVE REPLAY
F3 (or key 5)= When pressed during a corner kick in favor, brings the goalkeeper in attack

This seems like a nice sensible soccer clone :) It has the same quirky controls and is simple and fun. I haven't looked at it carefully, but the management aspect seems well detailed. There are two things that made things slightly confusing for me. The dots on the map become hard to distinguish when running close to the throw in line. The other thing is about the substitutions; I couldn't figure out how to see the stats of the substitute or the player.
Anyways, nice game :)
A "sensible" advice for the newstarters: Having a good goalkeeper reduces the frustration. Obviously, fast runners and good shooters help. Far curved shots with a good shooter yield easy scores ;) Enjoy :)
