I agree that a minimap would ruin the maze feel, perhaps a counter of how many pills, candy, bolts are left?

Candy Meadows: 260, 610, 1150, 2040 Robot Land: 620, 2010, 2960, 3610 Asylum: 110, 630, 1270, 2020 those should be your score after each level.

6 secret items:
Bunnymask: 3rd area, once your score is 900, there's a not-really-a-pit that you can walk downb
Idol: 4th area, take the lower route, NOT what the sign suggests
Clockwork Orange: You can see it in 2nd world 1st area, but can't get it till a late area.. explore areas to the right, especially when road forks.
Game console: easy if you are exploring for candies.
World 3:
Meaning of life: Early on after some of the jumping in a wooden area, there's a wall to the left that you can run on. You will come to a not-really-a-pit that has it at the bottom
Straight Jacket: 4th area, in one of the side "loops". (Can't explain it more than that.. too mazy)
