Ah good old Kixeye. They milk you for what they can, never update the game, then take it down when you complain about bugs and lack of content/updates. (backyard monsters)

I'm happy to say this version of Battle Pirates is the same as the version running on other platforms, which means it gets updated at the same time.

BEWARE! Playing through Kongergate does not have the 'invite friends' button at the top. You CAN NOT invite friends, and consequently can not have any officers in your Great Hall. Officers provide multiple bonuses. By playing this game through this website, you will be permanently at a disadvantage! 1/5

I'm at lvl 44 now and i regret playing this game on Kong and i'm considering quitting. At the beginning you get a Kong ship that is just good for starting out, but later on the disadvantages grow: 1. it is impossible to join and relocate to an alliance and despite numerous demands devs refuse to adress this seriuos problem. This makes it nearly impossible to get help from advanced players en get to new ship tech. So you will keep on playing with crappy ships untill you get bored. Coining doesn't help here 2. Players on Kixeye website and facebook get to have officers, which is a great advantage. 3. kong community on this game is not existing due to problems with other games in the past ( backyard monsters),...
Personally i like the game, but if i knew these problems b4 starting out, I would have never started playing this game.

This game becomes dramatically un-fun past ~40. Days - weeks - months to build stuff. Are you serious? The only way to do anything is with coins - which cost 10x if not 50x what they are worth. I'll probably quit soon.

It's already on facebook. Starting on this game means you're way behind everyone else. It's your typical browser empire builder style game where you have clans and go to war with others and blah blah blah. If you've seen this kind of game once you've seen it a million times. The only difference being there's no separate kong server so you have no way to compete with higher level players.
We thought it would be a better experience to let players play on a server with other high-level players who can also help them out - alliances are always looking for more members and our players will often help new players by opening cargoes for them, etc. And, you're protected from being attacked by high-level players while you level up. We also have real-time combat, which if I may say is pretty darn cool and something that other browser "builder" games don't have. :)
