i like this

I'm actually really surprised by how NOT boring this game was...Really really surprised actually. Only thing I'd say is to add a little more variety, like make it so when the guys ship get blown up you get a small bonus of some sort, maybe make different birds that require different amounts of hits, have the dude have different shots, stuff like that. Other thing that I'd even more so recommend over anything would be that you would have health instead of just losing points when you get shot, then it would be less about how long you can play until you get lucky enough to beat an old score or w/e and more about actual good playing. Basically patch some stuff and add more variety and this could actually be killer.
