Couple basic problems I see; 1, the player's melee range should not be limited to the center of the player's body. 2, a standard enemy should not be able to drain your entire health bar in half a second from its attack. Otherwise, this game does have potential.

This is a pretty great game. Is there a tutorial out there on how to make something like this? I used to love the TMNT games, and Double Dragon, etc.
Anyways, 5/5 for a great game! i'll have to check out some of your others.
