i think you could complete 3 flash games in a year while maintaining a day job. you have to work really hard though, and have a steady flow of ideas

yeah, i figured i was going to have to add it to all my separate enemy and bullet classes in addition to the fish that contains 90% of the code. which i tried adding it to just the fish to try it, and the fish would pause and never unpause. probably just shitty syntax problems. i’ll look into it, but i’m taking a break from coding for now. stayed up too many nights learning it already :/

wow, i’m glad you decided to be nicer, that all helps me a lot. all of them good complaints. #5 i kinda want to say “ur just bad” but no, i agree on that too, at least it’s a little visually misleading. i’m fixing everything you mentioned now. and damn, i spent hours trying to figure out a pause button, when you figured out how did you post your findings somewhere on the boards?

i’m glad some people like it :)
and draco of course i didn’t actually spend 9000 hours, more like 12 hours a day for a week and a half, all i meant to say was i put a lot of effort into it. frame by frame animation takes a long time, so does learning how to code + trying to come up with interesting level progressions / bosses. and you say the shield is necessary like it’s a bad thing — why would i even include it if it wasn’t? + the instructions say there are no powerups. i don’t think your crits are really fair, but i don’t want to argue, so just rate it badly and move on.

i don’t really know what my game is rated yet, but i suspected that would happen. idk what they can do about it, unless they want to calculate ratings excluding those by level 1 users for the contest, however hard that would be. that’s not what is in the contest guidelines so i doubt they can decide to do that now. but i think that would be a lot more fair.
