Just noticed the Recently Popular section on the front page. What is that all about? Dream World was there? That was uploaded in January 2010. Recently?

Also, the other 3 games were games that use Kreds to puchase things…. Backyard Monsters, Clash Of The Dragons and Tyrant. o.O

Some of the money coming from paying for kong+ does go to the developers.

Does it o.O? Kong recently stated that Kong+ came about because GameStop asked them to come up with an idea to make more money. I have never read or anything that has mentioned Dev’s getting more money since the birth of Kong+??

This makes no sense at all. If the sheer fun is leveling up, you would have been quicker just rating games and referring people. The truth is, the fun was in the games. Why is there fun in leveling up? I agree that there is some satisfaction somewhat but surely it’s the games and badges that are fun? If you are only interested in leveling, I suggest leaving Kongregate, finding a brand new website and start all over again. Just waste your time playing games though.

No no no no no NO!. This is lies. Kong shares ad revenue with Dev’s: Yes. Using Adblock affeacts how much money they share with Dev’s: …Sort of. Kong only makes serious money if you click on the ads, which few people do, so adblock has a tiny affect on this.

Buuuuuut wait. Kong really cares about Dev’s getting a share of ad revenue do they…. then why can you buy Kong plus, which disables ads?? The money from Kong plus goes straight into GameStop’s pockets. So they will let you off not helping Dev’s as long as you pay them first, if not, they want you to stop using Adblock??? So yes, yes I do use Adblock. Take a good look at yourselves Kongregate.

Can I just point out that I actually stayed connected and was logged out in the second window. Also, as I previously stated, I have refreshed, played through, carried on the game, numerous times on different days and still no badge….

No, what I mean is, I completed the game. No badge. Refreshed. No badge. Moved onto level the secret level 31. No badge. Etc.

I just cannot get the badge to work for This Is the Only Level 3? No matter how many times I refresh, go to level 31 (secret), etc. I don’t really want to do a screenshot shot and all that, just wondered if it isn’t working for anyone else?

Got to say, I honstely love the new design. The top games of the week/month are much better layed out and stand out more. Also, the latest played and recommended badges are a great touch. Very nice indeed.

You can attack any tribe at any time. There’s always one available, and the medium badge just keeps getting easier and easier the longer you play, so don’t worry about missing any kind of window (that was a huge concern of mine when designing the badge).

It might become more difficult to destroy a tribe with a single attack, but that’s not what the badge requires. After you’ve played for long enough, you can get 25k resources pretty easily by just doing a bit of damage; you don’t even need to be successful.

Regarding the hard badge, yeah, it’s super long. There’s no denying that. There’s also no denying that we’re a business and we need to make money, but our goal wasn’t to make money off of speed-ups with the hard badge. If you do the math on how much it would cost to speed up production to make the hard badge earnable in a short amount of time (let’s say a week), it’s unreasonably high — revenue from speed-ups isn’t even very significant anyway, possibly because it’s just not considered viable for most people.

Our bigger goal here was actually to get people to just play the game and see how much the world opens up once you’ve gotten your map room to level 2. The game actually gets pretty interesting — you can build outposts, see a lot more bases, take over new territories, etc. We thought that a hard badge would be a great way to encourage players to get to that point. If you want to spend money along the way or after you reach that point, that’s great. But it was never our belief that we’d make any significant money off of speed-ups just by virtue of having a badge that takes a long time to earn.

It’s also worth noting that the amount of real-world play time for the hard badge is actually pretty short relative to games like Sacred Seasons and Dream World. The hard badge in Backyard Monsters might take 2 full months to earn, but that just means a few minutes a day. And, as always, the badge is 100% earnable (without even a lot of difficulty) if you don’t spend any money on the game at all. That’s a principle that we have no intention of deviating from.

True and fair enough but I still stand by my feelings and thoughts. You didn’t have to run the competition. I honestly feel that having it on the front page and greeting new users from around the globe with, U.S. residents only, is a real turn off. It’s not about the competition as I said, it’s just the principle but thanks for response anyway.

The only explanation I have is that Gamestop is largely a US company, sure they have stores all over the world, but it’s mostly still US. As has been mentioned before, it’s just business. It’s very unlikely there will ever be a promotion open to EU residents only (for example), simply because it’s unlikely there will be a sponser who will demand such a thing while doing its promotion on kong.
The US (in general) is fairly protectionistic (is that even a word?) when it comes to its home market, a result of the chauvinistic attitude that’s inbred in all americans from early childhood on (if I’m supposed to believe tv documentaries). ^^

Most sensible reply I have had. Thankyou. I still stand by my opinions but I am not getting a response from anyone in authority. :( I will delete this thread.
