Topic: Games / Ideas for kongai

TruePurple,

Sorry, I guess I didn’t really understand your concept. I like my 2nd idea the most, a card that switches out has their energy bar set to 0 while they are in the players hand. This way, a player can’t return that card to the field with full energy for 5 turns. My 1st idea (successful intercept = stun) leads to several possibilities; it allows the non-stunned player to switch out, rest or change the range in their favor. But, more importantly, if they choose to attack while their opponent is stunned, they can use their most powerful attack that they have the required energy for. This can lead to a more advantageous intercept than the 35 damage already implemented in the game. For example if you have the energy and you are in the range for Constantine’s Pilebunker. However, if you intercept and only have the energy for JuJu’s staff strike, it fails to compare. Instead, you may use this free turn to switch characters or rest JuJu. I was only discussing these ideas because I thought they could add to the strategy of the game.

Sorry again for misinterpreting your idea, it makes more sense and I think it could work.

bkdaemon,

You have a 0.25% chance of hitting 2 out of 4 times, 1 in every 400 opportunities… he has a 0.81% chance to hit you all 4 time, 1 in every 123 opportunities. Sounds quite possible that it could occur, just not likely. Sorry about you luck. I still think my suggestion from earlier about displaying the random accuracy and proc numbers generated by the program similar to what Monster’s Den 2 did would solve this issue so people stop whining. Then again, I take that back. Not about thinking my suggestion is good, but that people will stop whining. Impossible… unlike the odds against bkdaemon.

Topic: Games / SHOULD THERE BE A HALO 4?

As long as Bungie keeps reeling in the money from Halo 3 and the other sources of income tied to the game, Halo 4 will always be a possibility. However, they will make the wait unbearable, because the anticipation and anxiety sells more.

Topic: Games / more cards to kongai

EmilyG, one of the founders/moderators of the site said yesterday in chat room that they have already done the art for around 40 new cards but haven’t started programming. 4 new groups including (i hope i get these right, sorry if i don’t Emily): Pirates, Robots, Witches and I think Vikings??? These are new cards but not stronger cards. The beauty of the game is that it strives for balance among cards which emphasizes strategy in selecting your players, their items and how you play them. Stronger cards would only ruin this concept.

konspirator01 My suggestion for Kongai: Notes on players. You should be able to take notes on your opponents and have it saved for the next time you face him/her.

I love the idea, good work.

TruePurple,

I don’t think that you can put any energy cost on switching or intercepting. That can hinder the guessing/strategy completely. For example, if a player has 20 energy and the other player has 100. The player with 100 energy can unload his most lethal attack or switch our for a more favorable matchup without any worry if the cost for intercept and switching is 30 energy each. If there is no cost for switching or intercept, then even the player with 100 energy has a decision to make. Although this may seem unfair to some, the advantage for the 100 energy player should be the options he has to attack while the other player cannot harm the 100 energy player.

I appreciate you giving my ideas some thought, but I enjoy the way the switching/intercepting method works as is. My suggestions were only to get people thinking about other methods the switching/intercepting could work out, and I did not intend at all for them to be considered improvements. I just thought that my methods might increase the amount of strategy required to play the game. For other readers who didn’t read my ideas, they’re posted on the first page of this forum.

It is hard to suggest a method to improve the switching/intercepting concept. I offer these 2 ideas (for discussion) and please leave your feedback:

1) A successful intercept deals less/no damage but leaves the intercepted player stunned for the next turn. 2) A player that switches out has their energy meter set to 0. This would take 5 whole turns for this card then to return to full energy. Or, cards not in play should only gain 10 energy per turn.

I was personally using Popo in my deck when I started and I won quite a few games, however, he can be taken down fairly easily by a few characters. I switched him out for a better card to compliment my 2 other cards. Most people who whine that he is imbalanced aren’t playing the proper cards to dispose of him. I feel that Kongai is balanced as a whole, but the game still feels like it is 50% skill and 50% luck. A perfect game play would be between 60-80% skill with the rest falling on the roll of the dice. I’ve fallen into hard luck of the back-to-back-to-back stun move of 25% each which is a (.25.25.25) which has ~ 1.5% chance to occur and missed 3 times in a row with a 95% attack. I feel a system similar to Monster’s Den 2 where they display the random accuracy number produced by the program at the bottom of the screen would be sufficient for me to see that my failed efforts were based on the unfortunate ‘roll of the dice’. With Kongai, they could display the accuracy number as well as the buff/debuff number as well so that their is no questioning the results.
