"Hey! Are you running an ad blocker?"
Imo, advertising isn’t evil or “brainwashing.” I often find new products and services through advertising that are incredibly valuable to me now from * gasp * an advertisement for it!

[Music] Native Bell Dance (Free Download)
I didn’t get around to polishing this and finishing it as much as I would have liked to, but here it is. :)
I recorded a native american flue styled song based on Carol of the Bells.
Any feedback is appreciated :)

Whats the best way to release soundtracks for looped music?
What do you guys think? I’m working on projects that I get to write more and more tracks to so OSTs are turning into a really fun focus. I’ve got a few up here and I’ve bounced around with different methods.
http://dvgmusic.bandcamp.com/
Some are just cut off, some are repeated and faded. Sometimes I’ve got time and inspiration to write out an intro and/or outro. How would you like to hear loops from your favorite soundtracks released?

Loving #2 the most but the change looks great for all three!

Kongregate is missing out on a EVEN LARGERER amount of kred sales!!
Can’t you buy kreds at gamestop using cash? Not sure if that actually started happening or not.
I know they are doing their best to make it as easy as possible to buy kreds. :)

Kong Music Game Contest
Yep! We are on the same page! :)
As for asking, you are totally right. You don’t need to ask everyone, but I really suggest you at least contact them and tell them! People will be stoked that you are using their music so reach out and talk to them! Might make a friend in the process.

I will respond to the second half of your post first. The license is chosen by the author when uploading music. Some people choose to use Creative Commons, some do not for example my track Jack has all rights reserved which means it’s only up for people to listen to. You have to be careful what you choose to make sure you have permission to you. There are many types of creative commons licenses.
As for the first part, of course I read the rules. :) I will confirm with the staff, but YOU in this context is you as a collective entity. It means you must have permission and rights to use the music. That clause exists solely to make sure you are not using any material you may not use, and infringing on anyone else’s rights.

Yup! There aren’t any special requirements for the contest, you just need permission to use any music you don’t own the rights to.

My paintings.
I want that on my wall, mostly because that duck looks like a zombie. I love it! Great brushwork.

If it’s any consolation I think you are a wonderful human being and probably a generous lover.

Yeah, that’s what me and my partner (developer of Tower of Greed, Pixel Purge) are going for! :)
I’m not really into rhythm games, they are generally all fitting into the mold of DDR or Guitar Hero. Music can be used so much more creatively.

You should take that as a compliment, David…
It’s like a backhanded compliment. I do this for a living and people making money off my hard work with no credit and no payment is pretty rude. Not to mention it makes my exclusive licenses worthless.

Aye, that’s what I thought. On a side note though, you are allowed to use Newgrounds music without permission? (Although that still isn’t considered good practice?)
Last I check it’s “Newgrounds Public Domain” which means you can only use it if you do not sponsor the game and only upload to newgrounds. Anything past that needs permission.
People steal music all the time though. It’s really messed up. I’ve had to hunt down 4 games so far and get them removed because they stole my tunes :(

Need music? Check out our community-created Sound Collabs for some great sounds, songs or ideas!
I hope that doesn’t get misinterpreted. I think what they mean is that how you can find songs, sounds, or people to collaborate with. Maybe they should make that text a bit clearer. You absolutely cannot use any of that without permission.

Opinions On Game Tiles
Those are looking great! The only issue I have is the roof tiles are a bit noisy, but I think thats only nitpicking. I’d work on the flat roof tile’s tiling issues. They tile pretty well horizontally, but vertically it doesn’t look great.

Adobe Soundbooth CS5. Is it good? Is it shite?

I’d recommend FL Studio. Very powerful and while I’m not a music guy I made some surprisingly good sounds with my trial. It’s also slightly less expensive I believe.
FL Studio is great. It’s got a really low entry level so beginners can pick it up, but it gets really really advanced as you grow with it. I use FL Studio for 95% of my music.

I don’t recommended it. It’s much more suited for editing sound effects than for music composition.

This is now a dump for my art/music
I really dug this! Great exploration into modulating time sigs. If you wanted to practice things like odd times, you’ll want to avoid things like bars 27-30. 3 bars of 5/8 followed by 9/8 rounds it out to a pretty even 6/8 phrase.
Melodically it does get a bit repetitive, try using some negative space in there. Silence can be just as powerful as full on NOTE BLASTING. :)

Guitar pull-offs
^^ That’s all really good advice.
Finger strength is huge for pulling off (heehee) good clean hammer ons. Accuracy is really important, too. If you don’t hit the sweet spot just behind the fret your hammer-on is going to sound really weak. Just practice practice practice!
Learn a few scales and practice going up and down them across the fretboard alternating pull-offs and hammer-ons. Remember that it’s better to practice slow and make sure they are clean rather than going fast and messy. Just build up your strength and speed.
