Topic: Collaborations / [UNPAID] LF averagly-experienced artist(s)

Well I’m no picasso myself, but I can create some pretty basic graphics. I’d be glad to create a few objects here and there, just note however I wouldn’t be a full-fledged artist for the game, as I lack the time and skill for that.

I could do things like backgrounds, objects (interactive lamps), and fixated graphics. AKA, someone to help out, but not become a full member.

My MSN messanger is Gunground@hotmail.com . Give me a message if you are interested :)

Topic: Collaborations / Need Alpha/Beta testers for a Flash Game

For those having trouble locating the game, you can type “Crystal Story” in the search and it will take you there. Ian, I gladly accept this challenge :D. I will leave feedback on the games “Review” forum

Topic: Collaborations / Need writers to write a lot of games descriptions! (Paid)

Hello, I’ve stumbled across this rather interesting opportunity. I, personally, cannot claim myself to be a literary master, however I believe I am more than capable of meeting these standards, which is why I would like to sign up. With 100 words per minute typing, along with a strong vocabulary of words, I can provide Powerful, descriptive narration of each game at a reasonable pace.

You can contact me via email or msn, however MSN is much more preferred as it provides real-time interaction so I may inquire if I have any questions, vice versa.

How much experience with coding do you have? No use in creating the artwork for the game if the person recruiting you is simple the “Idea Guy”

Topic: Collaborations / Age Of Dragons - Paid Artists

When and how much compensation are we talking about?

Like for example, say hypothetically I develop 20 images for you, how much would I get paid and when? I am a fairly good vector artist, however I have been ripped off many, many times by “trusted” developers who never paid me for my work.

Here is a few examples of my work:

http://img225.imageshack.us/i/artillery.jpg/
http://img842.imageshack.us/i/battleshipftw.jpg/

They are fairly good, however on average it takes me a day per image (3 days for images like those).

Do you have some kind of messanger I could contact you with for further questions and such?

Do they neccesarily need to be sprites? They are actually fairly harder to create than normal vector images, and overall they don’t look that great.

Concept and Ability to develop are two completely different things.

If you cannot provide anything substantial to the effort, such as animation or programming, then I am sad to say this thread has very little future.

Besides drawing props and coming up with idea’s, what else could you provide?

HTML, XHTML, and CSS have nothing to do with mmos moreover, a non-savant retard could program in them. As savage pointed out they aren’t even really languages. I think the more important thing is that there is no fucking way that you know JS well enough to make a mmo. Your inexperience just shines though. Let me know when this falls apart so I can say I told you so?

I understand your reasoning. Give the dog a bone and let them learn the hard way. Such naive assumptions that large scale projects like this can be accomplished on kongregate with a bunch of 13 year olds is the downfall of man. Live, and let learn

Topic: Collaborations / Artist Needed for Serious, Small Flash Game

Sure, if you would like to be interested in making a game together later on, I would be glad.

I must inform you though, I am an amateur so don’t expect anything that great.

I would like to discuss this more.

My email is gunground@yahoo.com
My aim is gunground
My msn is gunground@hotmail.com
My yahoo is gunground@yahoo.com

Give me a ring when you get the chance.

Ibeggars, do you have any samples of your work?

Thanks. I wouldn’t say the graphics are A+, but they are definetly B+. I have a link for the artillery gun (not the actual maze, just a little something something for graphic transition).

So far the game is coming along great. Battleship level is next.

Quick question, exactly how much of the game is actually developed. Or after 9 pages, are you still on “concept”?

Owen, more programmers are always welcome. How much programming do you know? Are you able to program side-scrolling shooters? Right now we have a coder, but he has limited knowledge of the program.

Do you use dreamweaver, or do you know actionscript?

On a side note, Collaborating is perfectly fine, but not to offend anyone, but kongregate is not a good place to start. Threads have a 98.5 death ratio, because people either start with ridicolously large projects, or because the so called “Collaboration organizer” just invites 50 artists, with no animator or programmer.

Be wary, unless the goals are realistic and the organizer actually has some abilities other than “idea creator” or “plot writer”, than you’ve wasted your time reading their thread.

Just a heads up.

P.S., thanks mainframe games for the feedback. I understand that it is 2 minutes of work, but my knowledge of actionscript is very limited. I only know about adding the walls, moving obstacles, and anti-right click cheat. I also know how to seperate the game into levels, but at that point my knowledge is maxed out. Plus, a maze game is always a good place to start, as though it won’t be great, it gives invaluable experience in flash.

In response, I am glad you responded, though I can manage the game, the graphics are eating up a majority of the time. MasterMilo, send you a whisper back. It would be preferred if you download msn, as that is my primary messanger. Also, my skype isn’t working so, if you have any other messangers besides skype and ICQ, then yes it would work.

As for hyper onion, if you’d like to learn how to use the program flash, I would be glad to teach you, but unfortunetly I don’t know enough programming to really explain it. I only know the fundamentals needed for simple flash games like such.

As for krono’s, the theme is “wars”. I am unsure if I would stick with one single war, or wars over the years, so I suppose a good start would be a soldier in fatigues.

Here is the current artwork for the flash. The artists work doesn’t have to be as good as this, but just an example.

Topic: Collaborations / Artist Needed for Serious, Small Flash Game

Greetings everyone, I am looking for a few fellow partners to assist in the development of a small scale project, a maze game. I do this for two reasons:

1: I would like to meet some people whom I could collaborate on future projects with.

2: I suck at programming, and this is all I’ve learned so far.

.

True, this is a non-budget game, and to be honest it won’t be highly viewed, but it provides you with something almost ALL collaborations on kongregate lack. The guarantee that the flash will actually be made, and not some half-assed excuse to get a bunch of people together for a game that would never be made (sorry moderators if Ass is qualified as vulgar).

.

I am looking for someone to assist with the graphics, and if there are some people with moderate competence of flash interested, you are welcome too. There is no pay, but you would get your name in the credits, as well as possible future collaborations on flash movies or even GASP Games.

.

My role in this project, is primarily programmer and animation, meaning I would be doing the majority of the dirty work, just need someone to assist with props, colors (My gradient transform button doesn’t work), and other jobs. Experience is good, but not required.

.

The theme of this maze game, is past wars, and I am currently working on a large artillery gun (World War 1 Level), in which I will later convert into a large-scale maze, with obstacles, levels, the whole shabang.

.

If anyone is interested in a collaboration that actually has a future, please inform me.

Signed,
Brian

Topic: Collaborations / Falling Debris: A Successful Collab

I agree, this is very gem moment for collaborations, but the problem is that the forums are too lenient on what qualifies as a collaboration. The success rate is very sad, I find work 10 minutes into a chat at FGL, while it takes me days or even weeks to find a collaboration that doesn’t involve two artists, a musician, and a “Idea creator”. The lack of programmers really puts a hurt on the community, as dozens of great ideas are left to rot and die.

I believe we should have one massive collaboration, involving dozens of members whom all work on one single project, rather than a bunch of ragtag threads with very little purpose. That would help ensure the games survival, as even when members get bored and drop out halfway in (like almost ALL threads here do), there would be a constant set of back-ups, and progress would triple Hell, I might even attempt to start a thread like that.

I know what your about to say “large collaborations almost always fail”. Well the fact is that if you have over 10 beta-testers, 5 artist, 2 musicians or so, and 2 programmers, every member is expandable, while large groups of people work for a similar goal. with a skilled leader to organize the group for maximum efficiency.

What do you think?

Topic: Collaborations / Falling Debris: A Successful Collab

I don’t want to be a cynic, but this thread is actually more depressing than it is inspiring. It proves the in-ability of for collaborative groups to work. Seeing as over 40% of all topics never even get started, and over 95% never get published. The odds of making a flash game worthy off the effort like this one is a one in a million chance. A fluke, as you would say. I congratulate these partners in their work, but it simply shows we seriously need to reform this forum if we want to see better results.

To those who have posted, do you have any form of messanger that I may contact you with? If so, what is it and what username do you go under, so that I can inform you of further details relating to this project.

Edit: Inflim, your resume looks very proffesionally done, excellent job. If your reports are as equally detailed as well, you may have yourself the job. However, once again I do need some form of communication to alert you. Please post it, so I may interview you further.

Topic: Collaborations / Beta-testers Needed

Seeking Alpha and Beta testers for large scale project in motion. Details are classified at the moment, however I can tell you that it’s being produced by a highly acclaimed flash author within this very portal.

Requirements:

-A good work ethic. If your planning on playing the game and writing a 2 paragraph report on whether or not you liked it, this is not for you. It will be very labor intensive project.

-A basic idea of what you are doing. Training will be available, as long as the participant is willing to work hard.

-A steady time to work. Nobody is perfect, but if at one day your available to test at 7 o’ clock in the morning, and 11 o’ clock at night the next day, this might not be for you.

It involves no downloading, no experience, and no software. Just strong will power.

This testing team will be assembled ahead of time, however the actual testing may begin within a few months from now.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Best Country in World?

I would have to say probably Iceland. One of its primary energy sources is geothermal, a environmentally friendly energy, government spending diverts a large chunk of it to citizen welfare and health, and overall so far the carrying capacity of the population has not been compromised. Not to mention it has been ranked one of the lowest political corruption countries in the word. So far Iceland has no major black marks in its history as for human rights abuses and such. So in my opinion Iceland takes the cake.
