After that am I in the clear to finalize it, or do I need to do some other stuff first?

Unob enhancements do not stack. They replace one another. (Don’t worry, it won’t allow you to replace a unob level with a lower level rock)

Edit: @Marine: The time just sends you back to the pub, no death penalty. The only things you might consider “special” would be the boss monsters there, and the quest that requires you to kill monsters there.
Since pickaxes cannot change bonus or have attack enhancers added, once they reach full level and are enhanced to +10 you should be clear to finalize it for an extra speed bonus. As long as you are happy with it’s current unob level.

I can only find up to +5 Unob level crafts in the crafter. Where do I find +10 Unob level crafts since they do not stack?

That link doesn’t explain what he asked. I’m sure you must want to help really badly, but could you please make sure about what the hell you’re doing? This is like the 10th time I’ve seen you answer stuff incorrectly the past couple days.

Can someone explain the concept of Unobtainium Levels, and the [+1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9] next to the names of my items. And the difference between the different kinds of enhancers like rocks, and Adders and such?

Unobtainium enhancements increase the power of your item. The item has 1 “tier” for every 10 rank it has. So a rank 200 item tier 20. Each unobtainium enhancement increases the item tier by 1. So if you add 2 unob to the previous item, it will be tier 22. For more information on how bonuses increase with tier, check the bonus guide.

Also, about your second question, I’m not sure what you mean. “Rocks” is how you call enhancers, every enhancer is a rock. So there is attack rock, life rocks, bonus rock, etc. “Adders” refer to bonus rocks (bonus adders).

Ah thank you, that helped alot.

And by rank you mean literally required level/rank in battle arena.

So a required level 250 item would be tier 25?

How do I get unobtainium enhancements btw?

So, cap is [+10] unless you pay alot of money to go over.

And you raise the [+1 – 9] by enhancing it with enhancers?

I don’t understand unobtainium level also, where can I give my weapon unob.

My,
Story.thickness : 100
line doesn’t seem to be affecting anything… Any ideas why not?

Same place as the other import.

FD often inserts these import lines as you need them, but depending how you type, eg, Sprite, it sometimes doesn’t detect that you now need it. I guess copy&pasting is one of the ways it can’t pick up.

‘The definition of base class X was not found’ is a pretty easy error message to interpret & fix. When you get errors, if you don’t know them….try googling AS3 and the error message, it’s often easy to find out what they mean & how to fix.

edit:ninjad

I just figured out I needed to import it first lol
Now I have text how do I tell Flash where to place it? And how do I change the font and size etc.
Also it seems that the text only shows a certain amount of characters before then dissapearing.

I fixes the " and " however the error atm seems to be about this line

<quote> public class Main extends Sprite {</quote>

Ah, my bad….you need
import flash.text.TextField;

inside package, but outside class.

Error messages generally try to tell you what the error is, first thing to check….typos & brackets.

AS3 is a case sensitive language, so even capital letters can be a typo. eg, your textfield is called Story. If you try to change it with story, it won’t know what you’re talking about. Story!=story.

package {
import flash.text.TextField
public class Main extends Sprite {
public function Main() {
var Story:TextField = new TextField();
Story.text = “Hello World”
addChild(Story);
}
}

Because that’s set as your main class, at the start of the game it’ll run the function with the same name as the class (Main).

package {

			Story.text = “Hello World”

Start putting code in your main function. Try a textfield first.

eg

var story:TextField = new TextField();
story.text = "Hello World"
addChild(story);

Then test it again, If it displays the text, great success. I suggest you try a code tutorial at this point….for a choose your own adventure text game, you’re going to need to learn to display text fields, change what they say, create a few sprites to use as buttons, add event listeners to the buttons, and write functions for each page.

D:\_MYDOC\FlashDevelop\Story\src\Main.as: Error: A file found in a source-path can not have more than one externally visible definition. story;Main

I will try a coding tutorial after I figure this one out :L

Compile means turn the code & images & music into a .swf

Basically, press F5 and see if Flash Player launches. There’s nothing for it to show, but it should be the size & colour you chose earlier.

If that doesn’t work, tell us what error message you’re getting, if it does work, show us what code you’ve got so far in Main.as

Or, you could try this tutorial
http://chrismweb.com/2011/01/26/creating-an-asteroids-game-part-1-setting-up-flashdevelop-and-planning/

Everything is perfect, correct colour and size. What shall I do next? As for that tutorial I could easily copy and paste the code, it doesn't seem to explain the parts of the code in enough detail though. I don't want to just Copy and paste I want to code by my self, I enjoy self-efficiency and the faster I learn AS3 and coding the easier it'll be for me.

No need, just use your main class. As I said, I can’t imagine you’ll need separate classes for a project this simple. If you can get it to compile, you’re ready to start coding.

What does compile mean, and I have no real clue on what to do now, when I was using Flash Pro I could just make buttons then give the buttons simple commands, now I just have a chunk of text I don’t really know anything about. The tutorials online are 99% of the time for Flash Pro with AS3. I’m using FlashDevelop and I’m pretty much stuck. What shall I do?

Well at the moment all I have is a main.as with my custom pixel width, now do I just make a ‘Game’ class in the src folder?

For something as simple as that, you probably only need one class.

First things first, make sure you can get it to compile a swf with the resolution (don’t go higher than 600*800 pixels or it wont fit on some peoples screens) & background colour you pick.

Then, try making a textfield.

Okay, so to make my class I just open up a new .as file, and how do I pick a pixel height?
