Hit detection on irregular shapes. Argh!
Sorry to revive an old post, but this was the first one I found when I searched for “hit detection”…
I did some searching on collision detection at other websites, and found a pretty good method (just haven’t tried it yet). It involves creating a temporary bitmap of the intersection of any bounding boxes, using one of the offending objects as one color, then adding the other object with the “difference” method, then checking to see if any cyan exists (which shows up if there’s an overlap between the two different items.)
