PETA
http://www.peta.org/main404.html – sums up PETA pretty well
personally I think PETA are p. epic trolls myself
in all seriousness I think PETA used to have a decent moral standard but now has degenerated into a group that relies only on shock value (i.e. vegan strippers, outrageous “animals are better then humans” type comments, etc) to make the news

God, the Bible, and religion - a Kong search for truth
God gave you free choice, I chose to beleive in Him, while you don’t, you still can save yourself from damnation, but thats your choice.
Which God should I believe in? There’s so many of them and so many different ways to worship them.

“Allah” is an Arabic word for “Lord”.
pretty sure it’s Arabic for “God” (encyclopædia britannica)

Tolerance, and especially acceptance, are very hard things to build when you’ve been taught to not build them.
Just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. People like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t stop fighting for black civil rights just because it was very difficult.

the large hadron collider will lead to the end of the universe, but not in the way most people think it will
well I think he has some interesting points. technology is growing at an exponential rate, which eventually has to stop somewhere.

I don’t do that so much anymore, I’ve learned to control my anger and actions a bit better.
actually I believe it’s been shown that venting your anger is healthier for you then keeping it bottled up (http://www.apa.org/releases/shynessC07.html, http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/09/07…

Chat Idiocy.
Hey sheling,
In the chat room, in the upper right corner, there is a grey bubble with a x through it that mutes all chat. Would this seem to help your situation?

All religions lead to the same God?
Ok, let me rephrase it, “All Religions Lead People in the Same Direction.”
What direction is that?
I mean, I think you seem to be saying “all religions (and atheism) have similer and unique properties”, from your line
You could take something meaningful from every religion if you just think about it.
But how does that help us?
EDIT: I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s difficult for me to understand what you’re trying to say without knowing a bit of your religious beliefs.

White People: The Target of Racism
dalewyn i’m sorry man but you’re not making any sense
like i can grasp your thesis and all but really I think I’m going have to reiterate
Unfortunately life isn’t math and regardless if you “balance” the equation it doesn’t justify “getting even”. And if you can’t understand that then convincing you otherwise is pointless…
yes, you can “subtract one from each side”, so to speak, but that doesn’t make it right when you apply it to humans and it’s just going to make it worse for both parties (which I think you understand already?)

Poetry
The whole point of post-structuralism is that meaning is open to interpretation and that the interpretation of the author is not necessarily better that the readers.
I guess the reason I don’t really like this then is the same reason I don’t like people painting, say, a circle, and say “hey, it’s symbolic art!” and then a bunch of people try and figure out what the circle really stands for. I guess this is more my deep engraved problem with english in general I’ve had for a while in that it’s not cold and hard facts like any of the sciences, and I guess this comic explains it better:

Wow, wiki has this?
gahhhhh
this letter makes no sense
(I mean, putting aside the writer of the letter’s religious views)
he says
Look, Paolini, the next time you write a book, please don’t bother adding personal views to them
how can a author not be influenced by personal experiences and views? isn’t that what a book is all about? why should Paolini change his entire book just to avoid offending one viewer?

If anything, McCain seems more trigger happy with a nuke button and more “conquerer”-ish then Obama, in my opinion.

American Citizens, Unfit to Vote!
The problem is that so much money is spent on obfuscation of the facts that whiddling out truth from rumor and propaganda is very difficult, even for the educated members of society.
So true.

Dumbest genre of music.
And, some metal lyrics are “primitive”, though many others are just as intelligent as any other genre, if not better. The genre has nothing to do with the quality of a band’s lyrics, as an artist doesn’t magically learn how to write songs based on the type of music he wants to perform. “Hmm, I’m gonna be a prog art rock band, so I’m going to magically write out all of these mind-blowing philosophical songs about existantialism and surrealism”
QFT.
