While I can’t say I still like this username I picked, I can’t say I liked all the badge choices in recent years, or all the changes the Admins make, I know I’ll respect all of it because the site was part of shaping who I am, and inspired me by putting the thought of becoming a game designer, in my tiny head some time ago.

Short Story
Okay, so the repetition is fine as a concept, but realistically, saying “What Lola blah blah…” more than 3 times is just silly. The count for saying what Lola could and could not see is about 13, and that made me laugh, it was like I was reading a report from the Opticians. And then it changes as well, from “didn’t see” to “did not see”, which doesn’t make sense – the repetition is the same with the grammar inconsistent. There’s some other repetition in there which I’m guessing wasn’t on purpose, when you use pronouns like the word “her” 3 times in this part of the first sentence:
“…as she walked in, hanging her car keys on the key holder her brother had built for her.”
When you could say:
“She shuffled in, hanging the jingling keys on the holder her brother built.”
What I did there, was cut that second half of the sentence into its own sentence, changed “walked” into a more interesting verb in the context, added “jingling” to the keys for the same reason, and removed the two extra instances of “her”. It’s little changes like those that will make up the bait that gets the reader caught on your fishing rod, y’know? I didn’t even think I was going to type this much, didn’t even think I was gonna post when I opened the thread. Hope it helped.

Edit: Well, uhh….that was kind of a boring game…
I liked it, it wasn’t entirely original, but I enjoyed it. It wasn’t overly difficult, the graphics are simple and easily-understandable. I’d also rather see 50 more platformers just like this than a lot of the other games shown in the NG screenshots, or for example, “Papa’s Hot Doggeria”. No criticism for the graphics, just to think a bit more about innovation and what hasn’t been done in the other platformers on here and NG.

Design A New Troll-Boy 3000
Personally, I feel that the dimensions set are a real constraint. I can see the idea clearly came from the Pip-boy 3000, it would be great to get a good-looking clone of it, I think it could look so much better if it was redesigned around that. I’d be prepared to draw up a Troll-Boy that looks more like the Pip-boy, but it would have to be on it’s side for me, whereas your dimensions are set on it being laid out vertically.

I’m sorry that I’ve pretty much completely neglected The Arts now, just too much else to do, but while I was looking back at this thread, I reminisced all the great works that were posted in the two PoP threads and I’m glad I made PoP to inspire and help aspiring pixel artists of the community, including myself. I understand why it’s so dead, back in 2010 although we considered the Forum pretty much dying 2 years ago as well, I created PoP to accumulate all of the great potential I saw in the artists doing pixels, in one thread, because at the time it seemed like there was hardly anything else getting posted apart from pixels. I wasn’t even that good, I do mostly illustration in Flash for flash games, but I just saw that others were and thought it was a thread in the right direction and format for the majority of the community.
This isn’t a goodbye message, I’m sure I could post my art every once in a while, I just felt emotional. Thanks and keep on pixelling.

Oh, I hadn’t realized you had a four colour limit, I just thought you were using a few colours to start it off. By that quote, I meant the space between say, the fist and lower arm, and between where all the main “parts” so to speak, come together.
I edited the rocky creature’s fist for reference.

I use the darkest colour for outlining the “ligament” per say, like the joints between our individual bones, connecting our wrist to our hand, for example. As I imagine, a creature made from rock, is a creature made from individual rocks bound together by magic and so on, so this can be shown by gaps in his body as he is like a skeleton and does not have the muscle or skin that we have to hide the gaps. I would use the darkest colour on his eye as well, perhaps making it more like a hole in his face like shown with the mouth. For the dark areas, you could use three of your colours, but I noticed when I was editing, if you count the yellow in his eye, it’s 5. :P

That was the point, post pixel art and recieve feedback. :)
I love both of those characters you have there, the overall outlines are rough for both of them. The rock-gorilla(that’s what I’m calling him) could be more defined in the space between ligaments if these rocks that make him up as an entity are seperate objects, which is what I usually imagine for fantasy creatures made of rocks. The chest and the overall dark area of the sprite could use redefining, and the “shoulderpad” of sorts sitting upon the top of the arm on the left is odd-looking for the moment. The eye of the beast is defined only by what seems to be one or two pixels. The pose fits the creature well, brutish and animalistic, standing his ground looking strong with his giant fist, however the opposite fist looks slightly odd in comparison. I understand it’s perspective, it just seems to be twisted a little.
The water-chicken(not sure if it looks like a chicken on purpose?) is very cool, but it definitely needs more definition of outlines with the colours it’s using(especially with it on a white canvas). The pose again reflects the personality well, I think, looking like it’s a pose straight from a martial art and ready to strike with… arms of waves, thrashing waves, I guess. Again, this character could use more refining of itself to make it look more like water and the like. Well, I think I’ve said enough here for the first one that I’d say for the second, only repeating myself.

Some Graphic art.
It doesn’t really seem like that took you very long. They’re images of the effects you can use in multiple programs, not a lot of effort.

Except he wasn’t mocking it up for the game. He created a fake screenshot of the game with the art existing in the game. A year on and I still don’t really get it. Please look at dates and don’t bump it if it’s over a year old, Salman. :/

I like him being simple, but maybe he needs shading too.

Here’s a bump to give you a heck of a lot of art, but I’ll start off by saying, a good friend I used to talk to on Kongregate a long time ago gave me a donation of 4,000 points on DeviantART, that’s about 50 dollars worth of points there. It was the first donation I’ve ever received for anything, and I’m eternally thankful for that deed. I used about half of it to get a 12 month membership on the site, which is really cool and I’ve always wanted. I’ve also been drawing a lot, so much drawing…

Considering this has happened in the past, I’d be okay doing it. I’m trying to make a game with someone I do know now because of this reason, I can easily draw what they tell me to draw when it’s someone I’ve spoken to across the internet… but I’m not getting on their wavelength most of the time, it’s hard to understand what they mean, especially with bad English and the art could come out lifeless

Do you still find yourself writing even though you’ve moved on to becoming an artist/developer?
PERFECT SCORE! BONUS QUESTION UNLOCKED!
Yes, literary skills can add to everything else you do, you understand the structure of a storyline and you can apply that to a game very easily.

I demand that art and sound showcases be returned to profiles
As an artist, I have to agree. They brought these into our Kongregate profiles and now I don’t want them shoved into the back of the closet, I want them there to promote the fact that I do art and no one will ever notice them with that tiny space under location. If this is an improvement for the social aspect, then the art and sounds seems like a social aspect of this site.

If you could name any room on Kongregate...
Oooh, yeah. Hyrule Castle, or something to the effect of “The Lost Dungeon of LoZ”. It’d definitely promote LoZ conversation, I’d go there if it discussed it often enough.
