Topic: Astroflux / Missions buggy

I had 3 missions bug on me today: 1) demoralize the lawless I didn’t get credit for kills, 2) Chel hunt I didn’t get credit when Chel died, and 3) Dominator I didn’t get credit when I killed Dominator.

The missions just stay open.

Frustrating.

“Opinion – Player population has dwindled to a point where this game may vanish.”

I think you hit the nail on the head right there. The PVP system killed the player numbers early on because people got sick of being killed by pirates and the developer only made a half-assed effort (exp protection) to remedy the problem. So everyone took off.

The game has zero visibility on Kong now and is unlikely to regain it so if the developer wants to do anything they should suck it up, take the advice of the few players like you who stuck around and suggested improvements, and make Astroflux 2.

No this will actually wipe the Flash cookies and you’ll lose your saved game. Firefox wipes Flash temporary files when it wipes cookies.

After I made the IE fix above I haven’t lost another saved game.

Update: It looks like the culprit might be Internet Explorer. I tried a test run opening my Flash shared folder, running and saving a game on Kong, then opening and closing various programs. When I opened and closed IE the folder got wiped. I checked the IE settings and it was set to wipe all browsing history on close.

I don’t quite understand how this was wiping my games as I never use IE but after I changed the setting to NOT wipe browser history the saved games have been preserved.

I have a sneaky suspicion that although I don’t run IE, Windows was occasionally wiping my Flash folders because IE was set to do that…but do I sound too paranoid?

I still don’t have an explanation as to why Flash keeps resetting the amount of storage allocated to Kongregate.com.

It seems like only a select few users are experiencing this problem, and not everything, so this leads us to believe it may be a software problem.

If you will all please fill out the following information, it will help:

Web browser: (Please include version)
Operating system:
Adobe flash player version:
Tried other web browsers?:

FF 10.0.1
XP SP 3
Flash 11,1,102,55
Tried Chrome and had the same problem.
For AV I’m running MS Security Essentials. I also have NoScript (disabled for kongregate.com) and AdBlock (disabled for kongregate.com)
I don’t allow CC to clear the Flash temp files.
FF is set to save cookies and not delete them on close.

One thing I’ve noticed is that although I tell Flash I want Kong to have unlimited storage, it keeps resetting to 100kb. Someone else mentioned this I think.

Let me know if you need anything else. I don’t want to lose my Kong!

I’ve stopped playing games on Kong since last week. It’s frustrating to put in a bunch of time on a game only to lose your progress every time. I appreciate Zshadow’s help but I’m no further ahead with this problem. Nothing has changed on my computer other than a Flash and FF update, and I don’t have a problem with data retention on other flash-based sites I visit so I suspect that there’s been a change at the Kong end that is causing the problem.

Hmm… that’s pretty weird. So it definitely has something to do with you shutting down your computer, though. The only thing I can think that causes this is that there’s a setting somewhere (either on your browser or on your computer) to remove your Local files.

I thought it might be that, but it’s happening in Chrome and FF, and although it seems to happen when the computer has been shut down, I’ve actually been able to replicate the problem by leaving my browser closed for an hour and then re-opening it. Neither Chrome or FF is set to delete local files on close.

I suspected MS Security Essentials, but like I said it only seems to be the Kong files that are affected. It could be that MSSE has flagged Kong as a security risk, but I don’t see any indication that this is the case.

Yes, it’s set to unlimited. I’ve also set the local storage permissions to automatically accept storage requests from kongregate.com and chat.kongregate.com

Yes a home computer.

Flash is telling me that there is no data stored under chat.kongregate.com. It has data stored for other flash applications such as gmail, etc., but for some reason my kong data is getting wiped.

Tried it, games are still gone. I’ve also tried Chrome and I’m losing my save files with it too. I’m at a loss.

I should also add that I’m running NoScript and Adblock+. I’ve got Adblock disabled on Kong and the various Kong domains approved in NoScript but could either of these be causing the problem?

Ok updated FF and the problem is still happening.

Oddly enough, it only seems to happen when the computer is shut down for the night and started the next morning. It doesn’t happen if the computer is just restarted.

So I’m wondering if there might be a timed service or something that could be wiping the saved files every night?

I’ll update and let you know.

Yes it seems to be happening only after the computer is shut down for the night. We’re also running MS Security Essentials.

I’ve done everything on ZShadows checklist and I’m still losing saved games. It started happening about 3-4 weeks ago and its even happening on games that I’ve played for months without any issue. I haven’t changed anything on my computer setup. (XP with FF 9.0.1) It’s annoying because I’ve lost saved progress in a lot of games.

Topic: Technical Support / Flash games don't save

There doesn’t seem to be a good solution to this problem. I’m noticing that games that used to save are now not saving. This started around the beginning of Jan 2012. I’m running XP & Firefox as well…could somone from Kong chime in and offer some suggestions? I don’t run crap cleaner, my FF is set up to accept cookies and I’m still losing save games after I power down and power up my computer.
