Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [HexWars] Replacement for Battalion: Arena?

Understand that I’m a fresh new player, I just found this from Battalion: Arena.

The main reason why I ever really liked Battalion was their script system on their maps. So I have to ask: I know you have a map editor, but is it as powerful as Battalion’s?

Zzzip, the “Concentrate Fire” option seems rather pointless: With “Multi-hit” you can target the same enemy three times, and do 45 damage. In addition, I recommend the “Skysweeper” modifier, so that a light-type attack would be useful fore more than just commandos and trucks. Lastly, 3 movement is a little low to me, so I recommend 4 movement.

tyghbn, How does the driller go underground and detect, defuse, and place mines? Is they options in the special actions menu? Also, does it have to be underground to detect, defuse, and place mines? Also, I think the formal mine write-up should be like this:

Underground Mines:
Health:1 medium
Damage: n/a
Move: n/a
Mods:
Underground: Enemies can walk through mines.
Detonate: If an enemy moves over a mine, they take 40 medium damage and the mine is destroyed.
Not Selectable: This unit is not selectable. It just sits there.

The forum has as much space as there are topics: it will never run out. Similarly, your time is your own, and you don’t need to ever look there. I fail to see the problem with them.

In my opinion, the amount of chat is appropriate because you have enough scripting to warrant such instruction. Would you know how to use the map movement without the chat? Or are you saying it is bad because you skipped through it really quickly and didn’t see what it said? Personally, I think it’s easy enough to figure out, and well thought out because you have land and sea transport. Also, it’s as non-complicated as scripting will permit in my opinion. I don’t see any problem with this map.

Also, I think the sea transport was really good. You didn’t have to have all the restrictions do to scripting difficulties like the wasteland ones do because the entrances were separate from the exits.

The armies race because they’re not connected to each other. Each player has an army, and each player has a base to defend. Volcanoes wall off each army from the corresponding base. If you’re referring to how I deal with First Turn Advantage, I use scripting to disable player 1’s base until turn two, as said in the chat script.

Actually, it could be argued that the Scorpion is more well rounded: It has a medium attack, making it slightly less effective versus light, but more effective versus everything else. The only thing it lacks is anti-air.

Published a new map “Holding Lines” and used an old suggestion of using Lancers instead of Scorpions in “Fourstreams City.”

In “Holding Lines” two players each have a base and an army, and they have to race to kill the other. It’s also possible to kill an army, but not likely.

The graphics are the same. The only difference is the death animation, and even then the demo doesn’t have to agree with the game on graphics.

Disabling an alliance between two players is easy- just use the same “Alliance code” but instead of true, use false. In the game start screen, you can still set them to be “allies” but they will immediately become “enemies” at the start of the game, as with the ally script.

Gordo, this is because the Vulture isn’t officially listed in the units list on Urbansquall’s scripting guide, although it can be coded in the same as any other unit.

Also, Thopson, in your alliance code, you forgot to include the code for disabling alliances between enemies. With the current code, enemies could be allied if they are mismatched in the game start screen.

Technically, all you need for posting maps is 10$ for Premium, not 20$ for elite. Also, Never give anyone acsess to your accounts for any reason. Have you even thought a little about account security?

Also, in the event you do get membership, please post your maps in the “My maps, and yours” thread.

Advanced targeting: Target’s terrain defense is halved against this attack.

If you’re a Premium/Elite you can search for them, but if you’re playing free you can’t play them unless you can get a Premium/Elite to start it.

You have your condition end at “killunit” rather than after your team notice. Does player 1 get a commando if a different unit type dies? If so, that’s probably your problem.

I recommend you add event tags and a condition.

Try this Transport code.

For the Destroy Unit code, I think you need to be more aware of conditions, and I can’t give you a “usual condition” for destroying stuff.
