Folding at Home Detailed Explaination
Ok, most people don’t quite get how to do this. So I will tell you.
First, go to “http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download” And download the appropriate F@H client for your computer (Vista, XP, Mac, Lunix…etc..)
Then download it.
Download Instructions:
1. Click “Save File” then let it download. (I have scanned it for viruses, nothing)
2. Open it up from your downloads (It should be called “Folding@home-Win32-x86-systray-623.msi”)
3. Hit “Run”
4. Go through the Installation Wizard and hit “I argee” On anything needed.
Getting points Instructions:
1. Click the “Start” button on your computer, go to all programs and find F@H.
2. Open it up
3. Replace “Anonymus” with your username on Platform Racing 2 (exact caps)
4. Put “143016” as the team number.
5. Put nothing in pass key (For admins or something I think)
Now at the bottom right hand of your computer screen where all of your processes show, you should see a picture of some balloons. If you hover your mouse over it, it should say “Getting Work Packet”. And then after that it will say something like “0/1500” or after a while, “515/1500”.
How to unlock things:
1500 = +3 ranks in PR2
5000 = Crown hat (Invincible to all but nets and lightning)
100,000 = Cowboy hat (FLY!) I have seen somebody with this, his name is “IDC” I played a level with him, but he quickly passed me. I’m pretty sure you can fly with this but it “might” be for show. Again. Not 100% sure
This is where most people get confused. They think they have 0/1500, and then when that is done they get 3 ranks. NO. Right click on the balloons and then click “Status” Then click “User Statistics”. You will see your true points there.
0/1500 is just 1 WU, or work unit. You get a certain amount of points from different work units. I think you get about 500 or so work units for 0/1500.
Good luck! My PR2 name is “meeshupeeshu” PM me for questions!
My current F@H points are 1055, almost 1500! I’m rank 21, almost 24 from the 1500 F@H points. I am currently folding on 3 computers.
