Topic: Kongregate / Broken badges

Update: Greg has confirmed the issue and is attempting to contact the developer.

I am attempting to play Toxers which was badged back in December 2010. I had completed the game before badges were released and just now went back to claim them. The game is able to properly load old save games, however battles can no longer be conducted, which makes the game unplayable and thus the badges can not be earned.

This does not appear to be an issue with stats not being submitted properly, but rather something in-game. The issue is that when starting any battle, whether from a new game or loading a previously saved game, the background rotates endlessly and the game ceases to function. This was a bug that had been initially reported when the game was released and the response by creator Rob Donkin was to disable adblockers. I’ve encountered this behavior before in some other games on-site where if the game cannot access some external reference, it may unintentionally block loading/gameplay.

Unfortunately, disabling adblockers no longer resolves the problem. I have verified this by trying the game on multiple PCs and tablets with and without adblockers, with current versions of IE, Firefox, Chrome and Dolphin and have tested using Flash versions from the present back to 10.×. I have also tried the game on other sites, including Rob’s own BadViking.com and the result is the same in all cases. I am thinking that if this has anything to do with external sites, it may be because the game was originally sponsored by Mochigames which recently shutdown, making all in-game references and the premium/Mochi-only content inaccessible.

I think the badges could still be obtained, if the developer could upload a new version that resolves the issue. Also, I presume that the Mochi-only content could be included now that Mochi has shutdown.

A side bug which had also been reported, the medium “Open Enlistment” badge for unlocking the entire character roster could not be obtained in all circumstances. There’s a bug in the game where the “Time Traveler” character would not unlock even if the player fulfilled the requirements (take Dog and Boffin to the Car Park level), if this was done after completing the game/100% the levels. It was reported to work if the player had done so before completing the game (which would force players who had already completed the game to start a new game and play through to that point).

I’ve submitted a bug report through Kong and sent the same via Rob’s BadViking.com game site. Any further assistance from Kong staff and testing/verification by the community on the matter is appreciated.

Both the easy and medium badges for multiplayer game Crystal Saga are not being awarded. The game is still active and being updated by R2Games and despite the Kong leaderboards for player character level updating correctly, the badges don’t trigger.

I just encountered a discount problem as well. Today, I had the FN P90 DEVGRU on 56% discount, making a permanent purchase listed at 393 GP. I bought it permanent and it appears as such in my weapons list (no timer), but was incorrectly charged 506 GP instead. I have also filed a bug report so that I can be refunded the missing 113 GP that I was overcharged.

I like that things have and can be reduced to give more screen real estate to the play field though I request that you return the ability to scroll through the achievement list so we can see which ones we want to work on without having to do them in a specific order. Or place the list in its own separate viewing window with maybe a small icon on the screen to open it.

Topic: Technical Support / Bunny Flags - BotD/Badges Broken

Today’s BotD is broken, as the game no longer appears to be properly awarding one or more badges nor tracking updates to Kong correctly for all. There are a number of comments for the game today reflecting this, so in addition to filing the missing badge report, I’m throwing this in the support forum for some increased visibility, given that the game badges/reporting has been broken for quite some time.

Bunny Flags badges have been confirmed as broken since at least May of this year as discussed in this thread: http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/241010-broken-badges?page=8

Like many, I had either met or exceeded the requirements for the Bunny Flags badges including today’s BotD, before or immediately following the original badging of the game. I was able to load my saved game and claim the easy and first medium when one of them was the BotD a year ago, though I note that it did not update the leaderboards with my progress then either.

Today, I’ve tried replaying levels and increasing the progress on a previous save, starting a new game and progressing, but none of it is being reflected in the Kong leaderboards. Of course, I’ve verified connectivity to Kong and my browser and Flash have been updated to current a number of times since the game was originally posted.

For those that are [paying] K+ members, I’d like to remind the admins that in addition to being awarded the badges and Kong points that we should also receive our double GameStop Powerup Rewards credit for the BotD, so in the likely event that many of the broken badge claims are not addressed over the weekend, that the Kong points and GameStop credit need to be credited retroactively.

It appears to be a very slow rollout. First the ad with a broken link. Then the webpage and the chat icon a handful of hours later. Presumably the actual profile medal will work its way through as well as a correction to the misspelling of the word “exclusive” in the quest description over the next few hours.

After clicking “Confirm” however, there was no change in my diamond/cash gift count in the top right of the screen (previously had 2 diamond remaining). The number remains the same as it does in the count when mousing-over the tally. I refreshed the game and after logging back in the count remains the same; I did not receive my diamonds from the spin. Considering how slim the odds are at winning diamonds from the small pack spin, it should most definitely work and I hope my account is credited correctly.

Topic: Technical Support / User Profiles - Missing Friday Challenge Rewards Icons

The Friday Challenge reward icons are not properly appearing on user profiles under the “items” section. I presume others have noticed, though I did not find a thread specifically addressing the issue.

Despite verifying the completion of all the challenges (Nov. 4 – Dec. 9 to date) in my rewards log and my Kreds transaction history, the icons do not appear on my public profile with consistency. I’ve verified this with other users who completed the challenges, yet are missing one or more of the icons on their profiles.

Fortunately, this site bug is limited to the icons and has not affected the reception of the reward items in the individual games. I have verified that they are properly received and can be used.

From viewing a number of profiles, I note that the issue appears to affect mostly the first few challenges and the problem may have since been resolved, though any missing past icons still do not appear, if that is the case.

I cannot access my rewards/points log. It is returning the “We’re sorry, an error has occurred” message. I am currently able to access the logs of other non-private players and have yet to encounter another error, so I presume the issue is affecting a small percentage of accounts. I was able to view my log normally yesterday so some recent change or error has occurred. I am still able to view my profile page and kred log without issue, however.
