Upgrade games, and card games like Card Monster don’t require you to have a connection. If you load the game on your laptop before you go into work, you’ll have it to work away at for the rest of the day. Even if you loaded multiple games, you’d have a surplus of things to do.
You won’t get any badges, but you can always stop before you meet the requirement, or you can simply go back and refresh for the badges to pop. Sometimes it may require you to go back and kill an enemy, of complete a level, or what have you.

Topic: General Gaming / What game has the best story/character(s)?

I’ve recently just finished the story in Tales of Graces f. It was my first Tales game, and it certainly set the bar high. With impeccable graphic and kawai gameplay, Graces f still delivers subtle more mature undertones of oppression, poverty, and other real life scenarios. With a fantastic cast of voice actors, and a decent to mediocre plot, the game itself and especially the characters, is something I won’t easily forget.

I really enjoyed Darksiders. I found War as a character to be utterly badass.

Topic: General Gaming / Which Viva Pinata game should I get?

Viva Piñata was one of the first games I got for the Xbox360. While being an easy 1000/1000GS, the game holds hours, if not days of fun.

That said, if you really want to get it again, either get the first one and enjoy it a second time, or grab the third. I know next to nothing of the third, but I know for certain that the second game is poorly made, and should be overlooked completely.

I often have to worry if an achievement or a trophy is going to glitch on me. Fortunately, while having played hundreds of games in my time, very few have really caused me that much grief.

I think the biggest misfortune was when my Too Human game got corrupted. It taught me a valuable lesson of not playing console games during thunderstorms. While hardly a good game by most players standards, I found the petty grinding, and killing to be rather enjoyable and almost relaxing.

Took a picture of this a few weeks ago and sent it to my roommate who was out at the time. It was funny because we were actually just having a conversation about how often I use exploits and such in games to achieve desired results. While this picture isn’t me doing anything particularly breathtaking, it was at least humorous. inFamous: a lonely police officer trying his hand at using a turret.

To each their own. I stopped playing the series after I believe the second game. Gathering up all those feathers, and then the flags/templars in the first game really drove me to my limit.

I might give it a play once I replay and platinum the first game on ps3.

Roleplay rooms kinda-sorta have to stay. From the few times I’ve been there, they have a very entrenched community. Plus, people are always going to want to RP and outside of rooms that have the purpose of RP, it’s incredibly disruptive; this is why it’s not allowed outside of RP-specific rooms (unless the owner says otherwise).

I’d vote that RP-specific rooms stay. At least that enables people(s) to redirect those that are persistent on acting out ways to rub up against me/flooding chat. Besides, there are only two rooms, really.

I shouldn’t have included names because now I am running the risk of going off onto a completely different matter.

I feel what it comes down to is that Kong discourage Moderators from silencing or banning because it detracts from the revenue the site generates. They have to put up with those who obviously deserve a ban because if they don’t they’d be reprimanded.

If that’s the case, than clearly Kong needs to fix a completely different problem.

A point someone had whispered to me “Also, the fact that ‘you can’t ask to be a moderator because it’ll drop you from the runnings’ seems quite idiotic. Choosing moderators should be purely because of their motivation to get the position – I’d choose the guy with the ‘application’ over the random person in the chat that ‘looks’ like he would be a good moderator”

I read that, and I thought to myself … hey you’re right!

I’d also ask: What is the point of having said five hundred chat rooms? Since when has more meant better? Wouldn’t a more appropriate way of handling the situation be to have few chat rooms so that they can all be moderated at a reasonable level?
Kongregate is like Starbucks at this point. Sign up, and pick your coffee- they’re all the same at heart, they’re all coffee, yet some are far more bitter than others and all have a fancy name attached to them.

If anyone follows Walking Dead, this is like the second last episode of Season 2.
It’s as if civilization, our humanity has been forgotten and all that’s been left with are a bunch of people being defensive and saying it’s not their fault, or taking extreme measures to rectify a simple problem instead of actually doing something productive to fix it.

Chats are either dead, or so far out of control that that grand number of five hundred should only act as an initiative to implement better rules and guidelines.
That number is also a bit exaggerated when given the number of foreign language chatroom that I personally, and any other person who only speaks English I am sure, can give less than a damn about.

If moderators jobs are not to moderate, by your “overarching principle”, than what the hell /do/ you do besides stick out like a sore thumb at the top of chat?

I don’t care who’s mod and who isn’t. What matters most is clearly their ability to handle a situation. I’d say over ninety percent of the time, a random, or even a regular will spew unwelcoming trash all over the chat, and even with one or two mods present, nothing is done.

You want to focus an update geared to the efficiency of having a mod in every room, yet what does it matter if they do jack shit? I was in a room a moment ago and the level 65 regular had to explain that even the moderator is a troll.

None of the rooms are welcoming. New people join and they get insulted left and right. Fourteen year olds are praised for their ability to mouth off and be hurtful to others.

This is a site for children- and as much as it bothers me to have to deal with such a young audience, it doesn’t help to then also be insulted by them.

If ever the day comes and I have a child, Kongregate is not a site I would have them frequent. I do not need my child to be targeted, and attacked.

Mute them is the answer to everything you say? Then why even bother having a chat when a room of fifty holds maybe ten or so active chatters that all will at some point or other make it a point to call each other gay, or retard.

I’m not an angel myself. I’m my own rooms troll- yet how can one relinquish and be a positive contributer when you have rules and guidelines being thrown out the window.

All this update means is that moderators are now being given the right to pick favorites.

How does that solve anything? The fact that use of the c word isn’t an instant silence or ban shocks the hell out me.

You’ve been given the task of being a moderator. If you can’t keep things under control, then you should admit to yourself you’re unqualified, hang your ego up, and give up your position. Someone makes a new account, that account should be instantly silence or banned because not doing anything is the /exact/ same as giving them a second or third or fourth chance.

Neopets > Byond > Runescape > Xbox360 > Kongregate > Ps3

Collected every avatar on Neopets at the time, won the Gallery Spotlight, and promptly quit.

Byond had lots of fun usermade games.

The largest part of my gaming life was put in Runescape. I started back in November 13th 2003 and played to the early parts of 2010. I maxed my character in 2008, then remaxed with 120 Dungeoneering shorty after its release with the help of my guild and then quit to play other things.
