Topic: War of the Web / Armor Games WotW Link Solution

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Details and Instructions Shown Below

Many people seem to be having trouble accessing Armor Games WotW because the cache link no longer works. Image of what people will now see using the cache link is posted below.

cache.armorgames.com/files/games/war-of-the-web-13060.swf

Luckily, I found a solution that allows you to regain access to AG War of the Web through the cache link by following a few simple steps.

Quick Guide
1. Go to the Armor Games forums and try to find a post where someone posted a hyperlink that leads to the cache site. It must be from Armor Games. I’ve experimented with hyperlinks elsewhere and it does not work. Links that lead to those hyperlinks are posted above for your convenience.

2. Click on any of the cache hyperlinks and it should redirected you to the game.

Remarks and Potential Problems

  • This is nowhere near a permanent fix because you never know when Armor Games will clear old forum posts or if there’s a change in how Armor Games save their swf files.
  • You can reaccess the cache link as long as you haven’t logged in yet, but after you login, it is required to access the link via the forum hyperlink again if you want to connect to the game.
  • The infinite loading screen problem (usually remedied by refreshing several times) may pose to be an annoyance since refreshing doesn’t work as it brings you back to the Play> screen again. You may need to click the hyperlink several times.

Even though it seems cumbersome to do this everytime you log in, I am grateful that AG will live on even when the population is at an all time low. Good luck and have fun playing!

If this forum post was to drop off of the most recent 8 posts in the forums, bumps are appreciated.

Just refresh the page and skip the Jiggmin intro scene by spam clicking the screen. This usually fixes the problem.

Topic: War of the Web / Building Cost/Repair/Sell Values

Was bored and thought I might create this for those who theorycraft base layouts. It has information on the upgrade cost, total cost, repair cost, and the sell value of every single building in WotW.

Creator of “the Dingus” strategy reporting in.

The thing is, you obviously have no idea how the strategy even works. Removing the “Attack only” button would not only make the game worse, it also wouldn’t prevent people from using the strategy. The thing about the dingus (or as it was originally called, the immortal strategy) is that it makes your spot extremely cheap to repair. You can repair your entire set of buildings over 20 times before you need to re-stock on money. Removing “attack only” would make the game worse for everyone and the immortal strategy would still be possible, just slightly less effective.

There are a few things you could do to try and stop it from working. The only problem is, the game itself is flawed. It’s a shame, but it’s true. It started off as a valid strategy when I first started experimenting with the game mechanics and created it. The problem with the “Dingus” (or as it was originally called, the “immortal strategy”), is once Dingus caught on to it when I destroyed his power city, it started getting a lot of publicity, and everybody started playing copy cat. If you want to make a completely over-powered strategy impossible, you have to make the game differently. The game itself is brilliant, and subtracting from it to make the strategy impossible would ruin the game. Instead of taking things away from the game and limiting it, I suggest you render the Immortal strategy obsolete by adding to the game; not subtracting.

That’s what I suggest. Add to the game. Make new strategies possible without removing any vital parts of the game. You don’t make the Immortal strategy impossible to do, you just add new aspects to the game so that people can beat it.

Doing anything else would ruin the game for everyone.

Welcome back and thanks for the history lesson. It just annoys me to see your vanity that “dingus” is still the metagame and WotW never progressed after that.

Despite that you’re the creator, I disagree and I’ll like to say that you don’t know the core strategy and knowledge of the “dingus/immortal strategy” in the current metagame of WotW. The strategy revolves around…

  1. Low Repair Costs
  2. Money Leech
  3. Farm Alts (Optional)
  4. Unhurt from attacks because of cost efficiency
  5. Hard to camp

A dingus base is not overpowered, it just that there are only just so little strategies to counter it such as a barracks layout which not everyone has. Even then, a barracks base needs to have a farm to cover repair costs. Most of these aspects of a “dingus” success around one idea, the “attack only” option, and it can be shutdown with its removal. What made it so successful is its ability to stock up soldiers invulnerable to attack along with a vulnerable coin farm to cover the costs of your base. Now, lets say the “attack only” option is removed. Troops can now be targeted even if the base is destroyed, thus a destroyed base will have 0 troops. In this situation, what can a dingus/immortal base even do with these added weaknesses? Rebuilding troops cost turns and turns invested in preparing troops leaves you vulnerable to attack during this stage.

You stated that Jiggmin should add to the game instead of removing parts of the game. The removal of the “attack only” will theoretically add more to the game mechanics rather than remove it. After the mass use of the “attack only” option, strongholds all together became obsolete in those type of bases. With its removal, the elements of base’s design of protection vs power will return, and it will also rebalance the game in favor to new players who don’t use the “attack only” strategy. I don’t see how this would ruin the game for everyone.

There is no reset button, but Jiggmin made this game in a way that you can’t really screw yourself over. The first city is your base is always free so a player cannot reach total bankruptcy.

but what if you sell your first city?

You’ll sell it for 0 coins unless you upgraded it. By first city, it means the first city in any base regardless of whether you first started or if you sold all your cities.

There is no real competition for the top rewards. The top 3 will continue to be the same people over and over who have the coins to pay for the escalating arena cost. The only real competition is for the back end of the top 50 and potentially the #10 spot.

It’s a bad system for bringing in (and not frustrating) new players. sylsylde makes a pretty nice idea that I would happily grind to do.

+1

alright so it’s been roughly a year since i last played and im rather disappointed that the kong swarming tactic has been forgotten. sure our numbers have gone waaay down from before but still, it was ridiculously efficient largely due to impressive coordination. so, i suggest we go and get organized again and kick ass so much that they will have to nerf our attack bonus again.

Just something I want to point out. Yes, the Kong swarming tactic died out because of a low player population, but it also died out because individualized attacking was more efficient than group attacking. Response times for sabotages can take like 10 seconds and then 1 attack will take another 5 seconds. This is largely inefficient because it gives the enemy time to counter-attack. Compared to an individualized player they can take down an entire player in a shorter period of time.

i suppose so, but it makes counter attacks difficult as well, since you have multiple people to take revenge on. anyway, my point is that we gotta try to organize, even if we’re gonna go on individual attacks

That’s fine. It’s going to be a bit hard managing a group like this though, since I haven’t seen one that survived yet.

I’ll test it later to see if that’s accurate or not.

EDIT: Upon further testing, the changes in your base’s happiness is not based on population. I’ll tried raising the happiness with a lower population base and I got results different from what you received.
The base below started with 50% happiness.

A very, very nice guide Deathkknight. Well done. I like how you put the AG link up there. Though I have one addition. I think that common WotW terminology may be helpful to new players. Perhaps it might give them bad ideas instead, you decide.

That would be a nice addition to the guide, since often times, people don’t understand some WotW acronyms/terms. I’ll start working on it when I have time.
