Topic: Tyrant: General Tyrant Discussion / Agroagros done with tyrant and kongregate

So originally I was going to post a letter but as I drafted it I realised it was becoming much to long. for those with a little more patience Ive decided to post part of it any ways. I think it will help you get to understand me better and my motivations. Thanks again everyone.

TLDR the Agroagro story

Id like to share my gaming history with you. Im in my thirties now. Its hard to pin point where my fascination started. I guess probably with board games. Ive loved them for as long as I can remember. Ive got vague but cherished memories of playing Chinese Checkers, Snakes and Ladders, and Sorry with friends and family. Then at some point as a youngster I was begging my parents for quarters to play pinball and later arcade games like street fighter, golden axe and double dragon. It was Xmas of 1990 when my stepfather came home with an NES, Adventures of Lolo, and Pebble Beach Golf. They werent games I thought Id like but I ended up playing them to death. Soon games were at the top of my wish list and Ive been gaming regularly ever since. Back then youd go to school and brag about your gaming exploits. “Did you find the secret?”, “Oh I already beat that game”, “But have you ever played (so and so)”. It was very word of mouth back then. if you were lucky you might have a nintendo power magazine or something similar. Quite different then nowadays where we have so many online resources and methods of communication we often take for granted. Anyways, one day a video game store opened in my neighbourhood. I was like ten or something and it was GG. Me and loads of the local geeks would spend all our spare time there. For a dollar or two they’d let you play any game you wanted. My favourite games were mostly fantasy and scifi themed. I loved Megaman and RPGs. Really id try most of the titles that came thru the door at least once. One day the kids were playing MTG. After watching a game I had to get my own deck of cards. I became pretty involved with Magic for a while. going to weekly meets and getting involved in the competitive scene. Later, Counterstrike was my first online community. I found a few servers I got good pings on and eventually became friends with the regulars. Inevitably I joined a few clans which brought my fist exposure to gaming forums and competitive leagues like CAL. Later I got pretty involved with the communities and forums of Pox Nora and Wesnoth. Thats when I started realising the community is almost as valuable as the game. Sometime early in the 2000s I noticed a friend playing the flash game Curveball. Id never seen anything like it. It was free, I could play it anywhere, and I was totally addicted. There was something about the simplicity and mindless fun of flash games. Easy to play with new ones coming out all the time. I them super endearing. Soon I be typing “flash games” into search engines all the time looking for my next fix. Eventually I found some websites that had big collections of flash games. They were crude and covered in ads and pop-ups but I didnt care. One day I stumbled upon Kongregate and it was such a step up from the other sites I was using. In 2009 I did something I never thought I would. I registered to kongregate because of a flash game (Kongai). You needed a log in to keep your cards but soon I found out it offered so much more. The ability to give feedback or talk with the developer, a place to save links to all your favourite games and of course the chat rooms and forums. There were lots of flash games Id play every day for a couple weeks but eventually you beat them or lose interest. On day I come across tyrant warmetal id played this sorta game before but it went belly up (warstorm/planetstorm). This one was more polished and more content was coming. you could feel the longevity in it. I was excited and I loved card game style games but hadnt come across a great one yet at least one with some depth like MTG in a long time. the Automatic play of it also left let you strategize but didnt demand all your focus every second you played. perfect for a hopeless multitasker like myself. I decided to make a faction because of the added features it offered. I named it Tyrants Club because I like simple things and I found the other names kinda silly. Little did I know the journey that was about to begin. I didnt know it yet but Id found a game that was going to let me meet hundreds of people and provide hundreds of hours of entertainment maybe more then anything id ever played before. Its hard to believe but in uncertain terms It might very well be one of the best games I ever played. I think that is a testament to the players and community but also the developers and kongregate for creating the environment to let it happen and let us grow.

Bye guys. GG

Over 3 years ago I started the faction Tyrants Club (TC for short) with a friend. I could never have imagined the journey I was about to go on. TC is truly the best faction in the game. weve accomplished so much and have had so many dedicated members its left me in awe so many times. Weve fought more wars then any other team and we dominate the loyalty list. weve stayed off farming, bots, and account sharing always steadily rising. Its always been our objective to play the game its meant to be played and never abuse exploits or break the tos(ie share accounts). Tyrants Club would be nothing without our peers, rivals, and competitors. there have been so many fun and exciting wars, dramatic politics, and just plan competition. Win or lose its so often been fun. The tyrant community has been amazing over the years. always evolving but always full of some many great personalities.

Thanks to everyone

Below Ill note some specific faction mates but there are far to many to thank individually.

Beyond anyone else MSbutterworth has been the most amazing commander ive ever served with in any video game. tireless, patient, caring, all while being wickedly competitive. Ive learnt so much from you and owe you a wealth.

In the past year the Minitress, DrBanzai, Promixa_Centauri have been invaluable. Again tireless dedication to the team. always ready to give there all.

In years before we had many amazing leaders to. Hollow0n3, Redsky, McDougale, Grenat, PWiddy, Deslig and so many more

before I ramble on every member of our team I think I might just point out my post from our last community kred raffle where I go into more depth about the teams history. LINK

Sadly my time here is done. Ive taken the past week to reflect but just cant come to terms with the events that took place during the forum mod switch over. Its left me feeling unable to express myself, feeling patronized and disrespected, and given me doubt about the community. Id always loved Kongregate but Im unsure about them now. unsure about what they stand for and what their priorities are.

Tyrants been in a dwindling state for sometime. All games face this after years of operation. however its still a good game and can continue to give its users countless hours of enjoyment. Its also been one of the most successful games ive ever played in terms of creating a social environment. Ive meet hundreds of people id consider peers and maybe a thousand I could call acquaintances. I personally felt that the developers have done an amazing thing here with tyrant and I thank them for it. I dont think its time is done and I can see many years of fun in its future. Just because Im leaving doesnt mean any of you should feel unable to play the game or participate in community or with kongregate. This is closure to my personal experience here. As a long time gamer, I do wish to leave you with one sentiment. stand up for your game, your peers and your community. A good game and community can provide you with so many positive intangibles. show it and your peers the respect they deserve.

Almost every faction thats been around for more then 6 months has at least a handful of respectable people in it. Theres so many great people that have come through TC in the years. Its been a learning experience and humbling at times. Pwiddy comes to mind he left the game to go volunteer in disaster relief. So many people tireless effort into keeping the good factions going strong.

I believe pack 1 is glitched to contain 75 cards in it instead of 50. its currently borrowing 25 cards from pack 2. you can see which cards are available in it on the fansite.

You picked disruptive people that have broken the forum rules countless times. People raised these concerns in the nomination thread. Looking through their post history you can see dozens of removed posts. They need moderating themselves. They arnt even active players of the game and denounced it and the developers in public many times. Its a slap in the face to active players.

all 3 mods got ellected by the majority of the community who arent alts in the the recruitment topic, and approved by the admins.
where are the 100 days of grace before all this flaming the new mods…

The nomination thread was only open for a few days and there were many users with valid reasons that shadow and lado would be bad choices.

I’m not going to guess at how long this trend is going to stay, so instead, this post.

For the time being, you must seek either mine, LDV, or ralkk’s permission in this thread in order to create new “Ask ____” threads.

Such threads created without our permission will be deleted on sight.
The current ones will be left open.

Oh, and no bumping your own thread.

jesus….

gotta ask permission to start a thread now?! what kinda BS is that. What is this kindergarten? gotta raise your hand and ask the teacher for permission to speak now?

/facepalm

I dont agree with kurder too often but thats a decent OP. I dont like many of his threads but they no worse then many that are left open.

From what ive seen the past few days there seems a double standard going in terms of what gets locked and what stays opened. And Some of the removed/edited posts dont seem so much about being needed to be moderated but rather done so from a personal opinion. Theres a huge difference between a mod thinking “oh I dont like that post” or “that makes us look bad” and forum rules being broken or member flagging. Then theres issues about the example mods set. there certain things ive seen them post that are generally not acceptable coming from regular users.

2 mammoths -6atk plus armor 3 and any protect (2) their receiving. I think more times then not they would get stopped before they start. Also, is of course my best guess without spending to much time.

why lol? it was them who allowed them to be chosen in the first place.

is like complaining to the UN about Israel when it was the UN who was dumb enough to acknowledge Israel in the first place.

I tired that, they dont wanna hear it. Darkfangs right on this.

Simply put, there are currently 3 AMA threads on the first page (there were 4, but Chief Keef’s was pushed off by none other than this thread).
Creating too many of these threads at once isn’t exactly a good idea, as it gets in the way of the rest of the forum. 1 or 2 is fine, 3 or 4 is beginning to push it.
Hence my response, and since there was nothing else to discuss, the thread was locked.

As for the Cry Havoc thread, that did not link to any dev threads, but instead to df’s own appeal to have his Pips restored, an appeal that is very likely to go unanswered and is therefore beating a dead horse. If he had worded the original post properly, with more emphasis on the dev activity as stated in the thread title and not on trying to solve his own mishap, I would have probably left it open.

Um, any further questions?

Why not lock the older ones then? seems like a double standard to me.

Also, what suggestions would you make towards making them more competitive in today’s meta?

Righteous needs a stun card that does not suck, and they need a better way to deal with Raider slowroll. If I was to suggest a card for Righteous it would be this:

BT needs a way to deal with CW. Protect would be out of character for BT, so what they need is siege:

Im not convinced those suggestions would do the trick Sean. The righteous card could get mammothed to easily. too bad chaos is out of flavor for them. Jam and evade sort of work there tho. Maybe your card with evade instead of stun.

The BT card might work but I fear its too close to

Carrion crawler sadly doesn’t cut it in the siege department. believe me I tried.

However if Seans BT card were siege 5 on attacked with legion it could be quite devastating to cannon walls.

In fairness, BO was known to subvert the ToS, and it was highly suspected LoA2 did the same.

So can we talk about Catepillar’s multiple legend deck again?
