Topic: Technical Support / Unity Error (Mac)

Ah well, Zshadow, your idea was helpful – I followed their instructions, and got Unity to work on demos at their site at least. However, it still does not work at all on Kongregate for me, so there is something specific to Kongregate such that Unity that is failing for me. What a bummer! Thatnks, though, for the help!

Zshadow, thank you for that idea and email address! I will try them next. Very helpful!

graveyard, you are too young to be nostalgic for your childhood! You should be looking ahead, filled with great ideas for your future. Actually, I miss THAT feeling. Ahhh, the 1990s. Yes, I do miss the better economy and higher overall hope for the future everyone had. I miss the internet that was full of amazing user-created content and little corporate influence, no ads and no one tracking you (except for viruses everywhere). I don’t miss: dial-up internet (through earthlink!); AOL sending everyone masses of sign-up CDs; my old Gateway 2000 computer with Windows 3 (don’t laugh – at one time Gateway was actually a good computer, and I got in right at the end of their good period) – my last Windows computer, and I miss Windows not a bit. (Went Mac and never looked back.) My cell phone with its external battery that weighed at least 10 pounds and cost about $3 a minute to use. There is a lot that is better now.

Thank you for the reply Zshadow! I did try that, and rebooting afterwards as well. Also double checked to make sure I had Enable Plug-ins checked in Safari Preferences. No improvement.

Anyone have any thoughts?

(graveyard890, the 1990s are calling. They want their anti-Mac trolling back.)

Topic: Technical Support / Unity Error (Mac)

I downloaded and installed Unity, and can see it in on my hard drive in: Macintosh HD>Library>Internet Plug-ins>Unity Web Player.plugin I also quit and restarted Safari, but whenever I try to play a Unity-based game, I get an error (Failed to Create a Unity Loader). What can I do to make Unity work on Safari? (Or Firefox for that matter – same error message.) Thank you!

Hey, I did it! Thank you so much, coinmasternz! I have developed a new appreciation of the Dens, too – the poison things is great!

Ah, thank you, coinmasternz! I tend to favor (overuse) temples and crypts, and under-utilize dens. I will get one at each entrance, and also start adding skill points towards maximizing their effectiveness. And, as you suggest, I’ll hold off on this until I get the last few levels finished (argh on 14 as well, but that’s another story!). I need to pay attention to exactly where I am getting fouled up, too, as I am not sure whether it is assassins or ninjas that are killing me – I just know it happens way earlier than it should. Once I determine which one is my exact problem, I’ll follow your advice on it. Thank you again!

OK, so I have Brilliants on Levels 1 – 8, and 10 -12 and i can’t get better than a Good on level 9. What is the right strategy on 9? I’ve tried crypts on the two outer high ground areas and temples in the center, as well as the reverse of this – I can’t even get an Excellent with these. My personal skill level (or whatever that is called) is 21 at this point and I have a lot of skills maximizing crypts, temples, and meteors. Thanks for any advice! I seem to be the only one having trouble with this level.

Is it possible to beat level 23 without juggling? This is the only thing stopping me from having all the badges for this game.

Topic: Technical Support / Flash has gone silent...

I just got the answer – in case anyone else has this problem with a Mac: open Garage Band – it somehow resets the Flash sound settings correctly. A few other people have had this problem and it worked for them, so I tried it and it worked. Weird, but fabulous! And thank you again Kioyoh for giving it a good shot!

Topic: Technical Support / Flash has gone silent...

Thank you, Kioyoh. I got rid of Real Player, then repaired permissions (Mac), restarted, and uninstalled and reinstalled Flash (including, first, the older version of Flash that Kongregate requires of Mac users, and then did all of this with the newer version of Flash) … and nothing! NO sound, and occasionally even truncated video (e.g., with a few videos on youtube, but not most videos). I am completely at a loss as to how I can nuke my Flash, reboot, and reinstall Flash and still have it be, apparently, forever compromised. Any other ideas I can try?

Topic: Technical Support / Flash has gone silent...

I seem to have lost all sound with my Flash player. I noticed it first playing games here, but am seeing it elsewhere, too (e.g., can’t play sound files on NPR – files buffer and load but won’t play). Video seems mostly unaffected (one game won’t load at all, but otherwise video is fine). I uninstalled and reinstalled it, rebooted, checked the speakers, all the usual things, and nothing works. iTunes works, so it isn’t a primary sound problem. This happened after I had to use Real Player for something today … could Real Player have hijacked my sound somehow? Can’t really enjoy the games here without sound, so if anyone can help me out, I’ll be super grateful!

Topic: Technical Support / Could be Frantic 2, could be Mac

Really, Eyedol? Others reported having problems with games that require the newest version of Flash.

I feel like I stumbled into the Monty Python Argument Clinic. (“Did not!”) It’s not where I want to be.

Thought I was doing right by reporting that Frantic 2 might still be having problems – especially since I was one of the first to report it was having problems the last time it was thought to be fixed (at least according to some to the communications I had). If I did wrong, fine, let’s just drop it. Otherwise, I hope that if others are having problems with the game, they will report it. It’s a great game that deserves to be running fully.

OK, here are the 2 reasons I’m not doing that:

1. The Frantic 2 high scores are erratic, so sometimes having them work and sometimes not is not really good information. If I downgrade my flash and the high scores work, that doesn’t tell me a ton about the high scores for that game – it’s still erratic. So, a better solution is for some Windows users to weigh in on Frantic 2.

2. Downgrading my flash interferes severely with other games. So that seems like a real bad deal.

btw, do we really know if there is a Flash bug, or could it be a Kongregate bug? Any ideas on when/if it might be fixed?

Thanks Ventero, I know about that topic – that is why I siad that it might be still a malfunction with Frantic 2 or it might be a problem with my Mac and Flash. Given the history of high score problems with Frantic 2, though, I don’t want to just assume it is a problem with my Mac/Flash – that would be a disservice to others who might still have a problem with the game.

Thanks Ljrules95 – I was hoping people would report in so they could tell if there was still a problem for folks other than Mac users!

I am still not getting high scores registering on Frantic 2 (an ongoing problem with the game). I’m only writing because the game page says it is fixed, but, for me, it is not. However, I also have a Mac with the latest version of Flash, so it is possible that it is now really a Flash problem. Wanted to report it, though, because twice in the past, everyone thought Frantic 2 was fixed when it really wans’t, so, just it case it really still isn’t, I thought you should know…

Thanks for the update! I’ve been whining about it on the game comments without really knowing if anyone else had the problem. You know: you like to pretend that you are accomplishing something while you are here and the high scores give that illusion… ;-)

Is it just me or is anyone else having problems with the High Scores on Frantic 2 not working? They might work on some levels some times, but not for most levels most of the time.
