I have spare time, and a new laptop, and maybe a renewed interest in FG, so here’s the lowdown:

I might host some simple mafias at some point soon. Sure, they’d be relatively simple in terms of the set-up – just basic mafias with some kind of theme to them. What I want to know is; are any of you regs interested in some basic mafia games at some point in the near future? I’m no experienced host, but I’m pretty confident I can run a basic game and type out the posts and stories. So are you interested?

Honestly helltank, there are places where CowFriend has done those things but quote some of them. It’s annoying when someone says “X did that LOADS” without giving any examples of “that”.

Helltank; I agree that CowFriend may seem suspicious but you seem awfully uncommitted.
You’re basically saying “We should kill this guy but I’m not going to vote to kill him.” It’s like you don’t want to be the one to start a bandwagon in case you’re blamed for mislynching. If you want him dead there’s no point being half-hearted about it.

Also, it’s practically a prophecy that Knoob get’s NK’d on night one by now.

Oh god; this mafia tutorial thingamajig is going on and my hopeless inactivity means I had no idea until I saw the role PM 2 days late – I’m sorry. I’’m guessing I’m one of the people here to learn rather than teach, right? God help us all if I’m an “experienced player”.

Anyway, I’ll read through discussion and report my findings in another post.

Waddling over to the supply of water, I take my 5 then walk off whistling a happy tune. As I pass my tent I place the water inside and to the left of the triangular tent entrance, walk inside and pull from underneath my bedding a small wooden box, which I then open.

Inside the box is a scratched but well-polished revolver and several bullets. I flip open the revolver, load it fully and place it inside my heavy clothes, making sure to shut the box and return it to it’s hiding place underneath my sleeping place.

Walking slowly outside, I sit down on a small rock and watch the approaching raiders. “They’ll be here in maybe half an hour.” I call out to anyone that’s listening. A few nearby acknowledge the information, but fewer thank me. I sigh and continue to watch the raiders.

Basically, the probability there is odd and scumtells should be what you’re looking for. I’ve never seen attempts at probability go well in mafia, especially when used as the main point of an argument.

You still only have probability; even if Knoob had just one pro-town role in his list that’s one in three/33.33%/one third, and even then you’d still have a reasonable chance of lynching a townie; you should look for things that show him as suspicious rather than rely on non-convincing maths. This is not taking third-party roles into account, which can be either pro-town, anti-town or neutral, which really means that any attempt to get a realistic probability will give you a very rough answer or fail.

Th GM gives you a role from the role list on which you chose three roles. The possibility of not getting an anti-town role/getting a pro-town role is always there. Knoob choosing both pro-town and anti-town roles in his list wouldn’t surprise me, as I remember him saying he needed to practice his scumhunting as well as saying that he enjoys anti-town roles.
