I’m currently on vacation and can’t put out a fix. However, it’s awfully tempting to kill the script given that Kong has shown that they don’t give a crap about chatscript devs.

I’ll look at it in the new year.

So, looks like they re-added caching for this version (after Google forced them to remove it from the free Market version) and they automatically go into full screen mode. The Xperia play modifications, though, are something I’m not entirely sure about.

Version 1.0 is out! I took some time off from working on the app, so sorry that this took longer than I promised.

New Features

• Post titles can now be edited!
• Users can now jump to the last page of a post OR the last post
• Performance improvements
• Behind-the-scenes changes in preparation for Ice Cream Sandwich
• Smaller app size!

Bug Fixes

• Improved the consistency of jumping to the newest post
• Fixed bug where users couldn’t select text on Android 2.3+

The next update will bring Android 4.0 support and will be a pretty major redesign of the app.

Happens to me, too
Is it supposed to?

I unlinked my accounts and I no longer get logged out of Facebook when I log out of Kong. I re-linked them and it happens once more. This would only make sense if I used the Facebook sign-in option. I don’t. This is a bug.

I’d suggest privately contacting one of the forum mods to see why your accounts were banned. While I can’t speak for everyone, I know that admins and moderators go to great lengths to make everyone feel like they’re a part of the community, regardless of sexuality.

On a QNX (BBOS 8) device? Not at all. RIM has said that all of those devices will be dual core. I’m able to have a decent Flash experience on my 2 year old 1ghz Snapdragon-powered Android phone, so it’d be pretty tough for RIM to botch their Flash implementation up.

WP7 does not have Flash support. So, much like with iOS devices, there’ll be no Arcade app.

Since Blackberry has Flash support, it’s possible. That being said, I don’t think there are enough touchscreen BBOS devices running Flash for Kong to invest in making an Arcade app for the platform. Maybe once the new series of QNX based devices launch, you’ll see application devs start to embrace the platform.

As a developer, I can assure you that, currently, developing for BlackBerry is not a walk in the park. Their ecosystem has a lot of warts, and things can get annoying. RIM has finally recognized that. Hopefully, we’ll see a lot of the advances they’ve made with PlayBook (AIR support, etc) make it to handsets.

Thanks! Four months of off-and-on work. I really kicked development into high gear two months ago, though.

Anyways, here are a few suggestions / thoughts:

- I can’t say I like the color choice, black on white would be more readable than white on grey

This was a tough decision for me – I ultimately wanted to reproduce the Kong color scheme, and think it looks nice on my AMOLED display. In a future release I’ll introduce switchable themes, so everyone will be covered. I’ll be sure to have a dark on light theme.

- it’s a bit weird that the forum sections are sorted alphabetically instead of being sorted like on the normal forums page

I figured the organization doesn’t make any sense when there aren’t any headings on the list, and muscle memory is slightly different. I made the changes halfway through beta testing and none of the mods complained. The Forums list is due to be refactored/reimagined soon, though, and I’ll be sure to keep this need in mind, but I can’t make any promises.

- I’m missing a forum search – I know kong doesn’t actually have one, but you could probably easily add one that uses google for that (like inurl:kongregate.com/forums)

As nice as it’d be, such a feature will be dependent on the success of future improvements that I have planned. Hopefully they’ll work so I can get search going.

threads with long titles take up way too much space, such names should be shortened so they only need one line

I’ll be making a lot of changes to the app after the 1.0 release in order to make it work well with tablets, including a new actionbar implementation that scrolls the title (like a marquee). If that works, I’ll be removing or collapsing the title by default.

an ability to zoom in would be appreciated (for viewing images)

Loading images in their own window is on my backlog. That should satisfy that need.

Thanks for your feedback! I’m kinda boring with my foruming, so it’s really helpful seeing how other people use the app. :-)

They’re storing the setting on a per user basis on their servers. When you request a page, it serves up the nav layout that they’ve assigned to you. There’s no way to change this on the client side, short of a userscript.

Actually, I hadn’t considered that use case. You’re right, it is annoying.

For the most part, it’s a solid update. Just a few comments.

1. The text for Full Profile (edit), Get Kreds!, Account Settings and Sign out is too narrow and hurts my eyes. Make it bolder/chose a different font?
2. Still don’t like the pink text for the username in the profile dropdown
3. It’d be nice if there was an easier way to quickly tell if you were logged in.

I like this variant: more than this one:

Especially if the icon next to “My Profile” changes if I’m logged out.

Oh, I don’t care about the footer – if it bothers you that much, don’t scroll down?

Hey all, just pushed an update out to the market that should fix the quote/edit/delete action bugs that some have been encountering. To enable the fix:

When you first sign in to the app, hit menu > preferences and check the box for “Fix Edit, Quote & Delete”. Then view a thread and try the actions out.

You should only apply the fix if those actions aren’t working for you.
