The 'cage fighting' craze..
@ GOLD: I hardly believe fighting in the UFC requires a college education. Hard work, yes. University, no.
@anybody that says that MMA fighters are morons: saying that people are morons for fighting in the UFC or any MMA event is ridiculous. You have no evidence to base that conclusion on other than that they like to fight – and I’m not sure I would even call that evidence. So what if they like to fight? I used to like to fight, and now I’m working on my PhD. Doesn’t mean anything (either one, that is…).
@Osric: it used to be much more brutal and “real” when it first started. (e.g., no weight classes, nut shots, etc.). I think the only thing that wasn’t allowed was an eye gouge. But then again, you’re right, it’s nothing like street fighting.
@anybody who want to be a cage fighter: in case you’re thinking about becoming a professional MMA fighter – unless you’re blessed with the dense muscular and skeletal anatomy of a successful cage fighter, avoid it. There are much easier ways to make money that don’t end up in costly reconstructive facial surgery…
