S:

I had trouble with Nik Nak too. It may take a little luck. The main thing with him is to pay attention to what he’s doing. Watch out for reflecting and make sure to only cast boosts on yourself during that 5 seconds. Wall of atoms is your best defense in this one: use it right before he gets finished casting Ye Olde Fireball, don’t use it at any other time. Other than that remember to keep casting Mana Shield and Concentration and eventually you’ll get him. Hope that helps.

^ Actually it’s a lot more work the first time because you have to memorize moves and button locations as well as figure out strategies to beat every enemy. All characters have the same basic moves so once you figure it out the first time, the second and third times through are much easier.

I think it was a little too easy to get an impossible badge anyways. Needs more levels. Cool game though.

Topic: General Gaming / Warlords: Heroes gladiator guide

Okay I’ve got the line-up. saneiac and ThirdParty have excellent strategies for beating all of these guys.

The key is getting the hardest ones out of the way first and saving the easy guys for last because their hp and hit power goes up each round.
Okay here it is. Start gladiator mode with the orc and restart until you get a guy with a small shield and a short sword first and this line up has happened every time for me:

1)small shield/short sword swordsman (toughest)

2)dual sword guy (easy)

3)bowman (easy)

4)mage (medium)

5)stationary twirler (second toughest) but at this level you can just stand there and swing away and he’ll die before you.

6)halbardier (third toughest) this was the toughest match of the lineup for me

7)two hand long sword guy (easy if you use the right strategy)

8)two hand long sword guy #2 (same)

9)normal spearman (easy)

10)moving twirler (extremely easy)

11)spearmaster (fairly tough) this was my second toughest match of the lineup get through this and you’re home free

12)flailer (laughably easy)

13)big shield/long sword swordsman (very easy)

Keep in mind that the ratings in parentheses are referring to the difficulty at even levels.
If you use this lineup I promise you will get the impossible badge in no time. The hardest part is getting the swordsman to pop up first. =)

I’ve restarted at least 30 times and I can’t get a swordsman to show up first. Is it possible or am I just extremely unlucky?

Topic: General Gaming / Amorphous+: Razor Queen Guide

Yeah the queen is red and a little bit bigger than your character. The razor queen is… heh you’ll know it when you see it.

Topic: General Gaming / Amorphous+: Razor Queen Guide

I didn’t see any in-depth guides to beating the razor queen so I thought I’d make one. Chances are there are better guides out there so if you can find them, read those instead. =P

Okay first things first… to find a razor queen, go to a small nest and clear it down to 4 or 5 glooples remaining in the nest and then wait. Don’t kill anything just let them go off the screen. Sometimes it takes 20 seconds sometimes it takes 20 minutes; but eventually a queen, amalgam or razor queen will show up. I leave 4 or 5 glooples left in the case a queen or amalgam shows up because these can’t be coaxed out of bounds, they must be killed. I don’t know the exact chance of a razor queen showing up but for me, razor queens appear more often than the red queens.

Anyways, once a razor queen finally shows up get ready for, what is not surprisingly, the toughest enemy in the game by far. chances are it will kill you the first time. Worry not because you have 3 rematches to exact your revenge. If you still can’t beat her in 3 more tries it is okay because after you’ve seen one, the razor queen will show up in the practice menu and you can take your time learning how she moves so you’ll be ready the next time you meet the b*@#%.

-In my experience, the razor queen always comes from one of the corners. So as soon as she shows up, immediately go to one of the two closest corners to the one she comes out of and stop. (If you go to the opposite corner from her it is easier to get trapped and you probably won’t make it out alive).

-When you’re in the corner she will move toward you and eventually stop and draw her claws backwards. This is your cue to move because she’s about to lunge right at you. So when she stops move simultaneously towards the center of the screen and towards her in a diagonal line. Get just behind her claws facing the end of her and swing so that just the corner of your sword radius hits her head. You’ll know you’ve connected when her gray blood splatters. Now there is a good chance that you will miss when you swing from this far away but if you swing any closer there is a good chance she will split you in half when she draws her claws back.

_Whether you connect or not, immediately move away after your swing and head towards the next corner so that you lead RQ in a square pattern around the edge of the screen. Keep repeating that strategy. It takes five hits from your sword to take the old girl down, so be patient and don’t get in a hurry.

-I would recommend bringing the ablative armor and grenades into this battle. Just remember to only use grenades when she has 3 or more hits remaining; because if you kill her with a grenade, you won’t get the silver key to unlock the glaive sword and you’ll have to do it all over again.

- She intermittently drops little spiked balls that slowly follow you around and shoot spikes in every direction whenever you are in close proximity to it. To destroy it you can do one of two things: run up to it and swing at it as soon as you can reach it or get close to it and then run away because the spikes only shoot a short distance.

-If she stops and sticks her claws into the ground it’s time to get on the defensive. Immediately get as far from her as possible because she’s about to launch a barrage of attacks at you. This is when you’re ablative armor comes in most handy.

First she’ll shoot lots of small spikes in different directions so dodge those if you can. If you are wearing armor the spikes will merely stun you for a second or two; but if you don’t have armor, they will impail you and it’s game over.

Second she lobs a large spiked ball towards you that sticks in the ground until it is blown up. Your sword can’t destroy it. Simply stay away from it. These also will only stun you if you’re wearing armor but will kill you if you’re not.

Her third attack while she’s posted up is the real humdinger she shoots little worms that immediately dive underground and follow you, waiting until the last second to shoot out of the ground and split you in twain. The best way to deal with these is to watch the ground trail and swing your sword right as the trail gets to you because if you dodge it, chances are it will get you from off-screen when you can’t see it coming. These little boogers will destroy your armor or kill you if you aren’t wearing any.

You can damage her with a grenade while she’s posted up but I haven’t been able to hurt her with the sword in this state. So I’d just worry about avoiding the attacks until she eventually continues chasing you and you can get back on the offensive.

Anyways, once you’ve finally finished her off congratulations, you can now unlock the glaive sword which kills almost everything in one hit except the queen and the grinder which takes two hits.

This was probably longer than it needed to be but thanks for reading. And if I missed anything, well excuuuuuuse me. ;)

Topic: Kongregate / Hardest Badge?

I have 10 of them and I know that I’ll eventually get 4 more. The one that I really have no illusions of ever getting is Feat Fanatic. There should be a “Never in a million years” badge worh 200 points for this one. Just finishing the game should give you an impossible badge. By level 15 your screen is a sea of different colored enemies that you can only get through with bombs that get too expensive to afford after buying 5. That was a longer explanation than I had planned but this game deserves that much respect… or fear as the case may be.
