Wait, yes I do. With the coins, your chance of getting two identical tosses in a row is 1/2*1/2 = 1/4… but you think it’s 1/2. That’s just factually inaccurate.

1/4 is the chance to get heads twice (50% chance on the first toss and 50% on the second). The chance to get tails twice is also 1/4. So the chance to get heads or tails twice is indeed 1/2.

Another way to look at it is that the 1st toss doesn’t matter, it only matters that the second toss matches the first. That second toss has 1/2 chance of matching the first toss (no matter what the initial toss was).

The third way to know for sure is just to write out all possibilities:
A B → fail
A A → bingo
B A → fail
B B → bingo

PS. You are correct that the 1/600 chance is nonsense. You can give a 95% confidence interval, but that will be from 0 to something way above 1/600.

If I would be the kind of person to respond to this, I would say:

- At least there is some skill/choice in DW. You can pick your class, switch weapons for MW, switch armor to survive bosses, you can choose where to grind. In King of Duels you only have the illusion of choice/skill, by switching around cards, but which pretty much has no effect on the win chance.
- At least the same people wouldn’t be on top every week.
- Frankly I tend to even forget to do my 20 hits 1 day a week. It’s simply so boring that I just forget it exists. Once I get my 1000 wins, I’ll just give up on it completely.
- Sure, but you can grind harder and catch up a bit in regular DW. With the level capped at 102 you can catch up. I see little chance to catch up in KoD.
- You can get all the other gear/rings by grinding. The Arena ring is just p2win. Not major p2win, but still…

- There is no skill involved

- It is just boring

- Special drop that most people will never be able to get when the big spenders keep getting nr 1 week in, week out.

Select a team of 10-20 players that work together to create the next card pack.

I suggest a smaller team that asks for input from the community and does their work in the open on the forum. This forum and this community needs something of substance to sink our teeth into. Having 10-20 people run off and come back with a finalized pack would just make people angry at the elite guys in the team.

How many cards should be in the Players’ Pack?

15 to start with. Enough to make it worth it, but not too many that we start creating crap cards to fill up the pack or unbalance the game. Depending on how that goes we can do more 15 card packs or go for a 30 card pack next.

Are there graphic artists in the community willing to also do the artwork or should this aspect be left to devs?

I suggest we hold a contest after the basic card stats are thought out (but not yet finalized) and give the community a chance, but with no guarantees that the art will be used. If the quality is too low, we might be able to reuse TU art or we can ask the devs nicely to create new art.

What issues/potential problems can you see arising from the release of a Players’ Pack?

  • Forum becomes fun again, instead of a troll fest
  • Tyrant is re-energized
  • Players get less angry at the devs

Seriously though, anything that happens is better than the current stagnation.
