Topic: Serious Discussion / Should countries utilise Green GDP as an economic/development indicator?

1/3. I think this would really wake up the world. The growth of economic powerhouses will probably be torn apart, making people wonder if more money is worth the cost. One condition for this is that the environmental cost has to be calculated in a valid way. I think it’s hard to make an accurate statement of some parts of these costs.
2. The human development index measures factors that are essential in life like education and health care. I think that care for the environment doesn’t really fit in there.
4. Maybe something like CO2 exhaustion per capita should be taken into account too
5. At least they would be a step forward in breaking the vision of more money = purely better

I think the key word you’re looking for is shortages. Lots of them.

Topic: Serious Discussion / We are about to create the next Osama Bin Laden.

My guess is showing off. America feels that it’s position as most powerful entity in the world is slipping, so the government want to remind the world of it’s military power. Sometimes it works, but if the cover of justice fails, the whole thing turns against you.

Not pressing it would mean certain death as far as you’re informed. Pressing it gives at least a chance of survival.
So I would press it.

Topic: Serious Discussion / *AX:* Co-dependency Triangle

I think that information is the key of breaking the people’s dependence, that and the ability to make a well-considered decision. Both of them pose problems. Let’s start with information.

1: Business and politics take place in back rooms. A big part of what happens there never reaches the public. That means a lack of information.
2: A big part of the information that gets to the people is biased.

Even if all the information was there and it was correct, we still need to process it into a decision. Enough problems there too.

1: We lack the expertise to form a decent opinion about a subject. For example: not everyone can think of a solution for the credit crunch.
2: We lack the interest in a subject to even bother to form an opinion.

Solving these problems makes the people able to decide how things should go and remove their dependence of politics and corps.
I don’t think that it will be enough to change the system though. People are far to eager to shove away responsibility, they will never take to leading the state themselves.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Biased Slanting: Good or Bad?

I think bias is bad, but things could be worse. What if everyone knew how bad the bias situation really is? Nobody would believe anything they hear anymore. All-round paranoia and whatnot. Now that would be bad, way worse than being lied to by the media.

if they really want to reach all that, they should move somewhere and live in isolation of the rest of the world. Otherwise it won’t happen. It’s like a goldfish trying to ban out sharks and whales.

The premise is in states or countries where abortion is illegal. Like providing an avenue for sexually active citizens to have a right to abort when they are doing the responsible thing.

Doesn’t unwanted pregnancy apply to every abortion?

It would be a good idea to leave the place where you’re parking.

If a government wants to regulate responsible sex practice, they should make sure that there is a multitude of forms of anticonception available. It would also be convenient if everyone could afford them.
But I don’t think it would work, the power of the government doesn’t reach far beyond the front door, definetly not into the bedroom.

3) I hope you’d realize responsibility comes with costs

Its a concept that I would like to see development. Opinions has no weight in this concept.

1) I didn’t count and, i merely used it to connect the two words
2) yes, but i hope you argee that the first reaction of a lot of people to hearing that they have to tell the government when they have sex and need to prove that they did it safely, would be asking if it’s a joke. because they find it ridiculous (or silly)
3) of course, but we are in a crisis right now so costs are a sensitive thing and doing outrageous things like this just don’t fit in the budget.

Wow, mother nature is a bit of a hypocrite.

i’d think that atheïsts don’t have trouble with an entity that created all life. They just don’t think it was a who but an it, like a god particle.

plus the fact that way more other life forms than humans suffer from this oil spill. Why wouldn’t he hurt us if he wants to tell us we suck?

Granted, but that don’t make ‘em right, and they certainly haven’t got any right to bully or browbeat people into seeing things their way.

I bet they would, if there was an alternative to show they’re right. people are not easily convinced into joining a religion these days. In the Middle Ages a priest would take something unexplicable and say it was god. Those things are becoming scarce. Therefore new ways have to be found to ‘lead us the right way’.

Topic: Serious Discussion / The Correlations Between Love and Hate

i think people use the words love and hate too easily. If that girl really loved him, there’s no way she really hates him now. She’s just angry with him because he didn’t return her feelings.
I doubt if this actually was love though. No offense to you pmr, but if she really loved him that bad she wouldn’t go out with you because you just can’t fill the blanks he left.

I think nudism is ok. I wouldn’t be able to be one myself, but the whole back to nature thing is kind of admirable.

what if someone would take less space. Say, in an extreme case: two people fit on one chair. Should they be charged less? If it really is all that simple it should work the other way round too, shouldn’t it?

Well, if obesity isn’t 100% voluntary, then I would think that meant that no matter what, you will always be a little bit fat (If that’s not what it means, correct me). This is flat out not true. You just have to work harder than others.

I’ll correct you then. Some people’s bodies have a problem in the nerve center. It doesn’t give a signal that they’re full of energy on time. So they think they need to eat more to stay balanced ( same amount of energy in same amount out) But it causes eating too much. It wouldn’t mean they’re always fat (they could ignore their system) but they will get fat easier because their eating enough is actually eating too much. It would be: slim and always hungry or fatter and feel good. I don’t think hunger or a bit of obesity is a real choice, every sane person would be a bit more fat.
