Topic: Berserk: The Cataclysm / Your suggestions

1. Achievement for UNsuccessful Clan War Defender.
This is to balance the Clan Defender Achievement. It allows active players to know how well their garrisons are doing against other players in CW, as well as giving an additional path, via imp and oz rewards, for non-paying players to upgrade their cards.

2. “Chaser” ability.
The creature with this ability could be a low-attack (1 attack, maybe?) and average crystal count card that deploys to the first empty slot. Each turn, if there’s at least one opposing card with the “sneak” ability, this creature “chases” down one of the “sneak” cards at random and inflicts double damage on it. Otherwise, it just stays in its slot and does normal damage to the creature in the opposing slot or to the Ungar.

3. Barbarian Hordes in Clan Wars.
One hour into each deploy phase, random clan cities may be attacked by barbarian hordes. These barbarian hordes would start spawning on the 21st turn, increasing by one every 20 turns: for 21st-40th turn, ONE random clan city is attacked by barbarian hordes every turn, 41st-60th turn, TWO random clan cities are attacked every turn, and so on. However, each clan may only have one of their cities attacked by barbarian hordes.
Damage done by barbarian hordes could be calculated as 4500/12 per hour for that battle phase so that a clan city may be returned to “neutral” status if it starts at below 2,250 hp for that battle phase.
Each barbarian horde will draw off 10 defending players. So if there are 30 defenders, and one attacker, this would reduce the defenders available to defend against attacks by other clans to 20. If more than one clan is attacking, the defenders are 20/x where x is the number of attacking clans. Damage done to the city being attacked by a clan would be calculated in the normal way i.e. 540/number of defenders for that city.
Naturally, the greater the number of cities a clan has, the more likely barbarians will attack, making it harder for any clan to totally dominate the map. The formula to calculate this could be: clan cities / total number of clan cities so a clan with fewer cities has a lower chance of being attacked by barbarian hordes.

I would not normally post something like this… but this is an unusual circumstance.

This is the mail I received after I left Clanning. Let it serve as an example of what a leader, or ex-leader, should not do.

I leave it to you, the reader, to decide if the contents directed at me are valid.

3f. “Chaining”
3g. “Splitting” the Defence
3h. Repairing

1. Overview

1a. Clans
You need to be in a registered clan in order to participate in Clan Wars (CW). There are two possibilities – you may join an existing clan or create your own. In the former case, there are usually level restrictions or other criterion you may need to satisfy. In the latter case you shall be the clan leader and may recruit clan members, appoint a up to two deputies from among the members (Update of 4 Apr, 2013) and declare clan attacks. Clans need a minimum of 10 members to participate in CW. There is also a maximum of 30 members per clan.

1b. Transferring Leadership
The leader may transfer leadership to the deputy (or the highest ranking clan member if there is no deputy) by leaving the clan. However, do note there is a 48-hour “cooldown” period between leaving a clan and rejoining or joining a different clan.

1c. Leaving, Rejoining and Joining a Different Clan
Members, the leader and the deputy may leave a clan at any time. Upon leaving the clan, the following holds true for all clan members including the leader and deputy:
i. The number of wins (for the clan in the current era) is reset to zero. This is an invisible number that is not shown in any way but is used to determine the prize award
ii. The total number of wins (for all clans in all eras) will remain unchanged.
iii. There is a 48-hour cooldown (CD) period between leaving a clan and rejoining or joining a different clan.

For the clan leader, the following shall also apply:
i. Leadership of the clan shall transfer to the deputy, or to the highest ranking member if no deputy has been appointed.

2. Overview of Clan War (CW)

2a. Eras and Phases
The Clan Wars are divided into eras. Each era lasts approximately four weeks and consists of three eight-hour rounds per day – Attack Announcement Phase (also known as the “Declare Phase” – 2 hours) and Battle Phase (6 hours). Each round starts at these times GMT: 4am, 12noon, 8pm.

2b. Cities and Influence Points (inf)
Cities are connected by pathways. Attacks are declared based on these pathways. Each city also has a certain number of influence points (inf). Most have 1 inf (sometimes called “singles”), some have 2 ("doubles). Inf is awarded at the end of each round to each clan by the cities they have in their possession for the era. Inf is the basis for determining placing and the prize awarded.

2c. Prizes (as at CW era of 7 Feb 2013)
At the end of each era, the top 10 clans ranked by total inf are awarded prizes as follows:

1st place – 6,750 ounces
2nd place – 3,750 ounces
3rd place – 2,250 ounces
4th place – 1,500 ounces
5th place – 750 ounces

6th place – 1,800,000 imperials
7th place – 1,500,000 imperials
8th place – 1,350,000 imperials
9th place – 900,000 imperials
10th place – 450,000 imperials

These ounce and imp awards are divided among all clan members using the following formula:

member’s wins in the current era / total clan wins in the current era

3. Clan War Mechanics

3a. Deploying
At the start of each era (or when the clan does not already have a city), the clan leader selects a gateway to deploy from on the Clan Wars map and announces an attack to a connected city. Clans cannot deploy and attack cities that has already been declared on by other clans.

Note (As of Era 4, Dec 4 to Dec 28, 2012): Leaders of Clans that fail to capture their city on their first attempt at deployment shall need to pay 15 ounces or 50,000 imperials for each subsequent attempt at deployment.

3b. Declaring An Attack
Deployment and attack announcing may only be performed during the Declare Phase. If the clan leader or deputy does not declare during a Declare Phase, the leader/deputy shall not be able to declare until the next round’s Declare Phase and the clan shall miss a Battle Phase. Declarations may only be made on cities that are connected to each other by pathways. For example:

A – B – C
|
D – E

the clan may declare from A on B or D but may not declare on C. The clan leader or deputy may declare from any of the clan’s cities on any city that is connected by a pathway, for example, if the clan has conquered A and B, the leader or deputy may declare from B on C, or from A on D. It will not be possible to declare from A to C or E, or from B to D or E.

Declarations may only be made on cities that have not been declared on by any other clan, for example, Attacker A has declared on the city of Sot-Aiam. Attacker B may not declare on Sot-Aiam in the same phase.

3c. Battle Phase and Capturing a City
During the Battle Phase clan members attack the given city, fighting with garrisons of the defenders. Each victory decreases the city durability by a certain value, depending on the sizes of the attacking and defending clans. To capture a city, the attacking clan must decrease the city durability (or “hp”) to zero. When captured, the city restores to its full 4,500hp with the new owner.

Every member of the attacking clan fights until they are victorious over all the defenders or until their first defeat. If all members of a clan finished their battles and the durability of the city is still above zero, this city is not captured. The clan leader may declare again on this city in the following Declare Phase or choose a different city to declare on. If a new clan manages to capture a city during its first battle phase, that clan is considered to have successfully deployed and may only declare from this city in the next Declare Phase (see 3b above).

In the event the defending clan has an attack in progress when the city the defending clan is attacking from is conquered, the attack immediately ceases.

In the event the defending clan loses its last city on the map, the defending clan shall have to redeploy from any gate on the CW Map in the following Declare Phase (see 3a above).

3d. “Try Again” or Buying Back In
If the attacking clan member is unable to defeat the defending clan’s garrison, the red “Fight” button will change to a cyan “Try Again” button. This means the attacking clan member may choose to buy back into the CW and continue attacking up to the maximum number of defenders. Buying back in costs 7 ounces. [Note: As of the CW era beginning 7 Feb 2013, buy back for clans deploying to neutral cities is free. For the period 12 Feb to 19 Feb 2013, the price for buying back in is 1 ounce.]

3e. AI Cities and Clan-Owned Cities
Each city may be “neutral” or conquered by a clan. Neutral cities have defenders with three-squad AI garrisons – similar to the AI garrisons of barbarian invaders etc. Clan-Owned cities comprise defenders from all the members of the clan currently in possession of the city. However, only three-squad garrisons of clan members (set using the “Squad” tab) will count as defenders. As such, Clan-Owned Cities tend to be more difficult to conquer than AI cities.

3f. “Chaining”
Since attacks may only be declared on cities connected by pathways, it is inevitable that clans may have a “chain” of cities. This chain may be broken by attacking a city within the chain. If the attacking clan is successful, the city and the smaller number of cities on either side of the chain will be conquered by the attacker as well. If the broken chain on either side of the attacked city has the same number of cities, the attacking clan has an even chance of winning either of the two sides. For example,

A – B – C
|           |
D – E – F

i. Clan “Defender” has conquered cities A, B, C and D. Clan “Attacker” attacks city A. If “Attacker” is successful, the chain is broken and “Attacker” will have conquered A and D.

ii. Clan “Defender” has conquered cities A, B, C, D and E. Clan “Attacker” attacks city A. If “Attacker” is successful, the chain is broken and “Attacker” has a 50% chance to conquer A, D and E OR A, B and C.

iii. Clan “Defender” has conquered cities A through F. Even if clan “Attacker” is successful in conquering city A, the chain is not broken and “Defender” has only lost city A.

In the event the defending clan has a defence in progress on another city in the chain (see 3g below), when this second city is conquered (as a consequence of a broken chain), the attackers on the second city will now meet the defenders of the new conquerers.

3g. “Splitting” the Defence
As of the CW era 7 Feb 2013, the defenders for a clan whose cities are being declared on by two or more clans shall have the defenders divided among the total number of cities attacked. For example:

Clan “Defender” has 30 members, each with three squads set as their garrison.
Clan “Attacker A” declares on “Defender” city A. City A defenders: 30.
Clan “Attacker B” declares on “Defender” city B. City A defenders: 15, city B defenders: 15.
Clan “Attacker C” declares on “Defender” city C. City A defenders: 10, city B defenders: 10, city C defenders: 10.

Note: amount of hp lost per successful attack is dependent on the size of the attacker’s clan and the number of defenders for each city attacked.

The formula for damage dealt to a city per win is (on average): 540 / number of defenders.

As of the update of Apr 4, 2013: Clans deploying from gates shall not split defenders. Such clans shall face the maximum number of eligible defenders (see 3e above for eligibility). Only if more than one clan declares from one of their existing cities shall all such clans enjoy the split defence as outlined in this section above.

3h. Repairing (As of the CW era 7 Feb 2013)
Repairs may only be made during the Declare Phase and the Attack Phase (for cities not under attack during that Attack Phase, as of update of Apr 4, 2013.). Repairs are paid for using Imperials (imps) and increases in cost exponentially for that Declare Phase. The formula is:

250 * RepairHP + 5 * ( RepairHP * ( RepairHP – 1 ) / 2 )

The cost of repair carries over to multiple cities, meaning if a clan member repairs two or more cities, the cost for the second city shall carry over from the first city for that clan member.

As of update of Apr 4, 2013: Repairs may be made during the Attack phase if the city being repaired is not being attacked. All cities may be repaired during the Declare phase.

1. It is not known yet if the repair cost carries over from any repairs made during the Declare phase immediately prior to the Attack phase where the repair takes place. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated and credited at the bottom of this post.
2. It is not known yet but assumed that the repair cost carries over for multiple cities repaired within the same Attack phase. Likewise, more information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: Zombie Pandemic / [Firefox Only] How to enable scrolling in shop windows

Note: You need Firefox with Tools/Web Developer. I use Firefox v15.0.1. May work with other versions of FF that have this same tool.

Steps:
1. Upon log-in, ensure you are not in maximised browser window.

2. Enable Tools/WebDeveloper/Inspect and make sure “Style” option is enabled (bottom right side of screenshot). This will open the “Style” editor. SS:

3. Select the game frame (note the dashed area moves as you mouse over different areas). SS:

4. Select the “html” tag after the FIRST “iframe” tag at the bottom of the screen. SS:

5. In the Style Editor, double-click on the “hidden” in the “overflow: hidden;” and change it to “auto”. SS:

6. Once this is done, close the Inspect tool by clicking the “X” at the bottom right of the screen. Now, all game screens that are taller than the game frame will auto-scroll when needed. SS:

You only need to do this once when you log-in.

Enjoy!

Button to Loot ALL Completed Raids

I don’t know if this has been suggested before but with all the clicking to attack, clicking to add stat points fixed, clicking to quest, I honestly feel that I’ll get some form of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Having a button to loot all the completed raids and present all the gathered loot into one huge loot table would help tremendously. Players would be able to see the total number of orange glyphs (example) for all the completed raids, etc. If possible the sort order for the table should be in the sequence presented in the craft tabs, for example, grouping all the glyphs together and showing brown, grey, etc through to orange.

Topic: Berserk: The Cataclysm / Clan Wars Suggestions

- Implement a comment wall for in-clan communication where all clan members can post comments. Not everyone is online at the same time, nor is everyone in the same Kong chatroom.

EDIT:
- Add a timer to show how many hours are left in the current Era.

from t_lark:
“-Give leaders some captains to issue attacks if the time zones thing is strictly necessary”
AGREE!!!

“-Don’t allow other clans to repair their cities, PvP is impossible!”
AGREE!!! As it is, the only reason to PvP is for top clan with 10 points or more above the 2nd ranked clan to take over cities belonging to the 2nd ranked clan.

“-Don’t reward just the top three clans, their is no incentive for clans who did not get a good start to keep trying. Give each clan a percentage of the total prize pool (based on reputation)”
Partially agree! Make it top 5 for up to 20 clans, top 10 if more than 20 clans exist, for big prize pool. For other clans, each clan must have at least a certain number of influence points (50?) in order to get a small ounce consolation prize.

“-I want to resign as clan leader, how can I do this without losing my ranking? I still want to be a clan member, I want to choose my successor!”
AGREE!!! I’ve played quite a few MMOs and this has to be the only clan system where a) leaders cannot step down and choose a successor, b) vice-leaders are not implemented, c) only the leader can “announce” attacks.

from infern0m:
“1 – no leader should be able to disband, and all clans must have vice leaders in case the leader quits the game, possibly 2 vice leaders would be best.”
Partially agree. Disbanding should always be an option BUT all clans MUST have vice-leaders and leaders MUST be able to designate a successor.

“2 – ranking should not transfer from clan to clan”
Absolutely AGREE!!! There must be at least some form of penalty for people who switch clans.

“3 – … peopel should be allowed 15 attacks per day and be allowed to take multiple cities, therefore stronger members can do more damage. if not have 30 person guilds is a waste of space and reward.”
AGREE!!! Possibly each person just keeps attacking 15x, if they lose a match, the defender switches without any ounce payment. Only after 15 attacks do you get an option to pay to “refill” attack bar by another 5 attacks. I’d suggest 10 ounces.

Even for the sake of the game looking neat, i’d like to have this mission checked and completed.

The blueprint will drop again if you target the right Mantis ships. Kill as many of these as you can till the BP drops. Collect and the mission will auto-complete.

G8 is full of good folks for the most part; it’s just the leadership that’s awful. ><

I’m TEO and I’ll try to keep this as short as I can.

Galaxy Leaders please take note: Shelix will not be an asset to your Galaxy

Read on for details, I’ve put the main points in bold. The rest not in bold is the proof:

First, despite Shelix’s claim to have been an Army officer, he joined a galaxy with no intention of following the galaxy’s rules. Example: he believed there was no room for allies in this game, despite the leaders explaining the rationale to him, and was actively campaigning to rescind all alliances and taking actions that raised alliance tensions.

From this, it can be inferred that

If any rule is dumb in Shelix’s eyes, he shall not abide by it.

Second, Shelix proved he has no discretion whatsoever. There is not a single g8 member who has left g8 and who has also posted g8 internal matters on an open board. All galaxies with Shelix in it MUST keep him happy else he’ll post their internal matters on an open board too.

Third, all Shelix wants is to join the strongest galaxy and score the most coupons while doing the least amount of work possible: the very definition of “freeloader”. Case in point: Instead of joining a stronger galaxy to compete against g8, or even starting a galaxy and recruiting based on his credibility and reputation in-game, Shelix started a new locked galaxy 504, and is still campaigning among g8 members to get himself unsuspended. We would have allowed him back after the suspension if he had bothered to mail us for the pass, but after this thread I would say he is VERY unlikely to get back into g8.

Finally, Shelix claims to have been muted when he tried to explain to me why he hit an allied pillar. In the whole private conversation of 20 to 30 lines from each of us, he mentioned the time of the raid once as “yesterday before I left for work”. This changed in kong chat after the mute to “two days ago before I left for work”.

The rest of that conversation was a case of “it’s a dumb rule, and Shelix shall not abide by it” (see first point above). This is the reason why he was muted.

Oh, just to toss more fuel on the fire:
