Really? Nice radicalapple, I played until day 200 but not on a Sheriff. That was about 3 years ago though, so I no longer have the saves.

Anyway, after reaching day 130 you are way past the bump in difficulty – at this stage, your power should increase faster than the strength of the enemies.

Thanks, but without line breaks I really doubt anyone will ever read this.

Walls of text are though to digest.

Ciao, sono italiano. I soldi in partenza sono sempre 650, a meno che non spendi Monkey Money. Nella maggior parte dei casi bastano e avanzano, comunque.

The power of a God from Populous. Would use it to help the world on a large scale.

Topic: General Gaming / Dead Space scariest game Ever?

I have to agree that the Thief series (without abusing quicksave – say, forcing yourself to 1-2 saves max each mission) is the scariest gaming experience I ever had.

Ruffyl,

I struggled as well with some Iron challenges until I learned a simple mathematical fact – many weak towers are better than a few strong ones, using the same amount of money.
So upgrade them pretty much at the same time, but give precedence to those that fire on both paths, and perhaps leave 1-2 levels under the ones immediately next to the tower, who can only hit 1 path.

I finished the Iron challenge using pretty much only ranger’s hideout and high mages, with 1-2 mage golem towers, upgrading them equally, using reinforcements to put groups of enemies close together and abusing maxed up fire rain (it really, really helps a lot).
When you have max tier towers, focus your money in upgrading the special skills in few – many special abilities have increasing returns on them when you max them (teleport especially) – you have to stop spreading your money once all the important ones are special tier, it becomes less of an advantage.

Just that. I pretty much one-shotted it at first try, simply armed with the mathematical knowledge of efficiency against gold.

EDIT: just done it again. There is a close call on the last wave of demons before the magma elementals – be sure to save a rain of fire for that.

FF7 all my life.

I personally find that the last “good” FF was the X – after it, everything else was a big let-down for me.

Are you absolutely sure? If so, that would be a really silly restriction. Do you have any evidence?

Actually yes, they count. I got the achievement only throwing axes at spiderlings, in the lower corner of that level where enemies come from top-right and bottom-right.

Topic: General Gaming / Elona Shooter 100days Hardcore mini guide

I played this game a long time ago, but I remember getting my Impossible badge…
…as a Rogue with a big ass Revolver.

I had a Ranger with Gravity Gun, a Sheriff with Shotgun for anti-air/anti-armor and… someone else with a Laser Gun, can’t remember if it was a Noble or something else.

I upgraded chicken a LOT, that combined with my headshotting Rogue gave me a LOT of money for… pretty much anything I needed.

By Melkor, my Revolver was devastating. I was lucky to find a REALLY good one (6-slots), and with my incredible money output I was able to upgrade it every single time my level allowed me: I was keeping 5 upgrades on it, only slapping a cheap one as 6th before the upgrade, so that the last one was the one to go. When I increased its accuracy and reload speed enough, I was able to unleash an endless stream of high-calibre death on my enemies, and after this was done I KNEW my game was won.

Sheriff cripples armors and sweeps the skies, laser-guy shoots bosses and too-close-for-comfort targets, Ranger grav-guns and I kill everything falling under my mouse: I didn’t came close to lose even once (after the setup was complete), I actually continued Hardcore until day 160 before I became bored – my power was increasing way faster than the enemies.

Good times. Makes me wish to play again someday. Best game on Kongregate, IMHO.

Topic: General Gaming / Kingdom Rush (skill question)

They are all activated automatically, at the interval specified (that sometimes can be shortened via upgrades).
Who gets targeted is anyone’s guess. It does look like it has some priorities (stronger enemies first when multiple targets are available); overall it works fine, if your victory or defeat depends on the targets of these abilities then it already means you aren’t playing well enough.

As I was saying, take the Combat Mechanics for instance.

No such things as “hit point” or “AC”: the effectiveness of every blow will be resolved according to the material of the weapon, its weight and its surface contact, against the type and material of every layer of the body part hit; something like:

iron greaves → leather leggings → fiber trousers → skin → fat tissue → muscles → bone

An attack may eventually pierce some layers, and deliver concussion damage to some of the underlying ones, for instace. Damage of the affected area will impair the damaged creature accordingly.

It really is THAT awesome.

m1ghtydux,

The reality about DF is much, much more complex than whatever impression you could have so far.
The complex world generation is how the whole thing began, but it evolved in an incredibly complex and omni-comprehensive fantasy world simulator.

I’m 32 years old, and I videogame since the times of the Commodore 64; Dwarf Fortress is probably the single most complex simulation I ever played.

Just to give you a glimpse, the combat mechanics have nothing like “hit points” or “AC”… (sorry, have a meeting right now, will finish this post later)

Actually, with a laser rifle he has somewhat of a non-0 chance of killing a sectopod, even at Superhuman skill. Make sure you attack from the sides or from behind, though.
