Plastic Nee-San or Senyuu. Both are… intriguing comedy shows.

Thanks. Might check out Senyuu first.

Those two are both shorts- if you want some comedies with normal episode length, try:
Kuragehime, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Seto no Hanayome, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Genshiken, Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Detroit Metal City (episodes are half-length but oh well). If you don’t mind a bit of drama with your comedy, also try Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei, Great Teacher Onizuka, and Honey and Clover.

If you’re looking for something else ask away. >__>

EDIT: I generally don’t really like it when people choose shows of that type without considering tastes. Not everyone will enjoy a kooky adventure show.

Well, it all depends. What genres do you like to traditionally watch regarding TV shows or movies?

It’s been pretty slow on this thread, so I’m going to write a long post. Sorry, folks. D:

What I’ve watched in the last two weeks:

1. Omoide Poroporo (Only Yesterday). Super underrated Ghibli film directed by the same guy behind Grave of the Fireflies. Surprisingly good- lacks a real sense of direction, but more than makes up for it with fantastic slice-of-life and a great ending.

2. Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (His and Her Circumstances): I was always curious to see what would happen if Gainax and Hideaki Anno (crazy huy behind NGE) made a romcom series. It’s pretty good: unique main characters, pleasant romance, clever use of symbolism. I enjoyed it until Gainax, being Gainax, ran out of budget, and by that point the show basically ended like Evangelion.
Gainax use of budget example:

Yes, those are paper cutouts. Yes, it’s like that for the WHOLE EPISODE.

3. Sennen Joyuu (Millennium Actress): Movie directed by Satoshi Kon, who’s probably most famous for cult hit Perfect Blue. Fantastic movie with a weird and confusing narrative. A good watch, but you should be fully awake or you won’t be able to keep up.

4. I finally got around to watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It was a lot better than I expected, but I thought there were some serious pacing issues. The witch battle sequences were freaking awesome, though. Also, Homura’s kawaii, Kyubey sucks, etc etc.

5. Mononoke (not Princess Mononoke): This has become one of my favorite shows of all-time. The art direction, the dialogue, the surrealism is stunning. I especially like the color scheme:

If you have four hours, take the time to watch it. You won’t regret it. :D

Ok, I’m done ranting now. Next on my list is probably Berserk TV.

Holy cow, The Tatami Galaxy is mind-bending. I’m having trouble watching more than a few episodes at a time.

One of the few I’m looking forward to. Summer is looking to be a great season, though I said that about this season as well and I’ve been extremely disappointed.

Yes, because we all love censorship as much as the next person.
From what I’m seeing so far, summer is going to be kind of uninteresting.

I watched 15 episodes and put it on hold. This was over 2 years ago. That show was so painfully dull and slow that I couldn’t stand to watch it. I’ll get back to it when I completely run out of other stuff to watch.

You need to keep watching, man. I haven’t watched/read Monster yet, but Naoki Urasawa is the master of buildup.

On a related note, I began reading 20th Century Boys, by the same mangaka of Monster. The mystery, the buildup… I’ll be darned if it isn’t one of the best things I’ve ever read.

Just finished reading Aku no Hana (skipped over the anime, because goddamn rotoscoping is ugly). For any of you Aku no Hana watchers, give the manga a try. It really is overrated but it’s stupidly addicting.

School Days had a decent idea, but its execution was a disaster.

I’m in a love-hate relationship with that show. While it is overall good, the girl is rather obnoxious to me. This may be changing with the events of last week’s episode, but as it stands she only gets on my nerves.

Yamato is the most adorable thing ever. If you think that SHE’s obnoxious wait till you see some of the other shoujo heroines out there.

Is it just me, or is the unlimited blade works second season incredibly boring?

By the way, Sanctuary is classy as HELLLLLL. Read it!

Denpa Kyoushi sucks so much. So much.
Most other shows are watchable.
Amazing that this is the only opinion I have while watching 20-ish shows, huh? D:

Sidonia no Kishi is surprisingly solid, although the fact that the show is in 100% CGI is pretty off-putting.

And from the looks of it, no Blame! anime adaption :(

Just finished Gantz. That was a terrible, terrible experience.

Time to start watching Sidonia no Kishi, or the better SnK now. <3

Topic: Realm of the Mad God / I changed my password on RotMG... (yes, it borked)

Hi everyone!
I changed my password on the RotMG website a while ago, and now when I log in through Kongregate it shows an infinite loading screen. When I try to log in through realmofthemadgod.com, it then says “too many failed login attempts”, so I can only assume kongregate tried to log in again and again through my original account but could not log in. Any ideas on how to fix this?

My tidbits of thought:

Kuragehime is wonderful. The manga is even better.
I hate Nisekoi with a burning passion.
Ore Monogatari is still the best anime of the season, but the new Grisaia gives it a run for its money (the new stuff is so much better than the 1st season)

GearsChicken: new to anime? Watch Fate/Zero.

Triage X is… painfully boring. I can’t believe the mangaka stopped drawing HotD for this.

I tried searching and doing my research all over Google, but couldn’t find anything, but now I am not sure where she is from, so can someone please tell me where she is from?

Did a reverse image search on Google and couldn’t find anything either- it’s probably an original character?

Pre-millenium anime certainly had an interesting art style, although I myself find it interesting. Worst art is probably from 2004-2009, like School Days, Myself; Yourself, etc. It just looks cheap.

Yeah, I’ll past. A lot of these sites I find are hoax. I find this one site… Pfft, silent anime anyone?

I mean, I’ve actually downloaded a lot of anime. It’s not a hoax or anything.

Watching School Days. So many nice boats.

K-On actually has a fair amount of entertainment value.

I enjoyed Mirai Nikki, although I do partially agree with the critics. Some of the arcs need serious work, and there are a fair number of plot holes

Whoever disparaged Spice and Wolf should BUUUUURN

That’d make sense, since Robotics;Notes is part of a trio of Visual Novels which include Steins;Gate.

Hello fellow anime fans.

Anyone who watches / knows about the following anime they’d like to discuss? (You know, I haven’t bothered reading the thread).

  • Tokyo Ghoul Root A – My opinion: Terribad compared to the first season. Damn. The amount of wtf compared to the manga this anime has, it’s almost

  • As bad as Akame Ga Kill, which decided mid season to go COMPLETELY OFF story wise. What the hell? The manga is still going, Anime is done?

  • Also liking Log Horizon, tho it’s a bit stale at moments. Boring, almost. I’d rather enjoy some ecchi DxD or IS.

  • Last but not least, Death Parade. I almost feel like the studio behind Death Note had made this sick anime. It’s cool but also damn cruel ._.

  • Tokyo Ghoul Root A – I never really enjoyed the first season in the first place- I always felt that it was too rushed to have any buildup. The second season is even worse- the pacing has become so twisted and garbled it’s almost painful to watch.

Akame ga Kill – I understand their reason to do an anime-original ending, as by the last few episodes the anime had already caught up to the manga and had to spin off in its own direction. Granted, it was a terrible direction. I’ve caught up with the manga – it’s good, but not as good as I hoped.

Log Horizon – Immersive game world shows like these always deal with the problem of losing traction at some point. Log Horizon, SAO, 1/2 Prince all had to deal with this problem. The “lack of actual death” feature implemented in this show from the start only served to accelerate it.

Death Parade – This show is enjoyable, but lately I’ve been finding points that don’t seem to be that enjoyable. The psychological aspect of the show is starting to get a little gimmicky. Likewise, intertwining an episodic series with an overarching storyline have ultimately made for some awkward pacing.
