Was it “Book to Movie”?

It seems that sinking a ship has screwed up a certain anime.

are we talking about battleship hahahaha
just kidding I know what you’re talking about
I was surprised too at first, but apparently it’s part of the story.

I literally just learned that manga is awesome. That feeling of being overwhelmed though, especially with midyears… D:

Awesome! I’ve only read one manga series and that was Full Metal Alchemist. I’d like to read more some time but my local library is short on them (I live in a small town)

Kissmanga, sir, kissmanga.

I personally don’t like reading manga online. It’s not as comfortable as having the manga in your hands. They also have awssome covers.

Also, some scanlation translations are atrocious. Unfortunately, manga ain’t cheep :(

I thought it is just for keeping track of what you watch/read

It’s not just that – it’s also good for researching anime/manga/etc, it has a great community + forums, and also has an IRC which I frequently idle in/idly frequent.
The amount of time I spend on that site probably rivals the amount of time I’m actually watching anime, lol.

For people that liked Usagi Drop, there’s also Aishiteruze Baby. I haven’t watched either myself, but I do plan on watching the latter sometime soon.

Hehe what are you talking about, season 3 anyday now… ;_;

I went to see if there were any translated light novels out, and it turns out Yen Press had licensed them all. Fucking Yen Press AND THEIR CAPITALISM :(

What anime would you guys want to see get another season? I feel some anime just ends greatly and should stay there, but occasionally I feel like there’s much more that could happen in the anime through another season.

3 I think should:
Spice and Wolf
Toaru Majutsu no Index
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

I can think of three right away: Baccano!, Kuragehime, and Mayo Chiki!, who are probably not going to get ‘em.
Also it’d be cool if some shows got remakes, like Gantz. Bad adaptations to good manga always ruin things. :(

I tend to lean more towards the dub side. I won’t hesitate to watch something if Japanese is all I get, but I will almost always choose dubs if there is an option.

Since most stuff doesn’t get dubbed, I have gotten use to subs, but the less I have to read, the more I can enjoy the show. I am getting better at understanding the language and have watched some stuff raw before and could follow it(sort of), but I’ll take a slight loss of original feel for convenience.

I’ve watched a couple of dubs here and there, but I always felt that seiyuus are typically better at conveying the emotions behind anime than dubbed, especially because the English cast for most dubbed anime aren’t all that great. DxD dubbed gave me nightmares.

Do you watch in English or Japanese with subtitles?

To anyone just starting it, I personally think it’s better in dub. This show is very dialogue/monologue heavy, and to me that just doesn’t translate as well when you have to read subtitles.

IMO Death Note might be one of few shows to watch with English dubbing over subs. With the exception of a few shows, many dubbed shows don’t convey the experience as Japanese with English subtitles, even if you don’t understand the language.

Tons of new anime released this past week. I myself am watching around 13 so far.

So, thoughts on some of the new animus? Anything look awesome, anything disappointing?

Nothing new appeals to me, unfortunately. Although the second season of Aldnoah and Tokyo Ghoul I’ve been waiting for.

Tokyo Ghoul looks awesome so far!
Death Parade looks interesting, I like the idea.
Absolute Duo looks like tons I’ve seen before but…I’ll keep going.
Junketsu no Maria seems eh but I like to give everything 3 episodes.
Seiken Tsukai no World Break again, reminds me of things I’ve seen before, but I’m okay with watching it.
Shinmai Maou no Testament reminds me of Highschool DxD, I’ll keep watching this one.
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata is basically if Kirito was an otaku nerd making games (same voice actor) I like this one.

Excluding Dog Days/Fafner/Sengoku Musou/Tantei/Kuroko/Jojo, which I haven’t gotten to yet, here are my most expectations-to-least expectations based on ep. 1:
Death Parade
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
Drrrx2! Shou
Tokyo Ghoul Root A
The Rolling Girls
Kamisama Hajimemashita◎
Junketsu no Maria
Yoru no Yatterman
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata
Aldnoah.Zero Season 2
Kantai Collection: Kancolle
Shinmai Maou no Testament
Absolute Duo
Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!
Seiken Tsukai no World Break
Juuou Mujin no Fafnir

Gave Kodomo no Jikan a fair shot. Have seen numerous bad reviews of this anime, but that just made me curious. It’s just another loli, and so it’s kinda cute by default. The teacher is fairly well restrained, so it doesn’t feel awkward. It’s the girl who does the perverted stuff. If the teacher was like, pursuing her then it probably would not have worked and would be uncomfortable. The child can get away with that, the adult can’t.

But really, the existence of the character Reiji makes that whole pedophilla vibe vanish in an instant. The creepy overprotective psychopath guardian who needs to be thrown in prison angle was uncomfortable.

I overall did not think too highly of this show.

Hm, I should get to watching that. Might as well watch all the “makes you uncomfortable” shows at once, right?

It’s a good animu, I don’t understand why some people don’t like it

Cause it’s mainstream. I don’t see why people are so overhyped about it, though.

if I like it then what do I care what other think. amirite?
Also, Chaika Season 2 done. I Love Fredrika

It might be less “some people don’t like it” and more “too many people regard it as the best animu ever”. I do think it’s kind of funny when my friends talk about it like its existence was unrivaled or something.

Also, what did you think of Chaika S2? I thought it was really, really underwhelming.

Was not disappointed with today’s lineup.

The three shows that I watched today (Death Parade, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, and the just-subbed Koufuku Graffiti) are all currently my top 3 for this winter. I had never expected Death Parade to be that great.

I haven’t caught up with Jojo’s yet, but I assume it was fabulous today as well.

If you’re a fan of the thriller-type anime that Death Note was like, maybe try Zankyou no Terror? It’s about terrorists.

This season is super, super meh. Except maybe Tokyo Ghoul as far as I can tell. Maybe I should give the manga a shot.

ok this really agitates me

you expect every single post to be perfect in here?

That’s not what I’m saying. It just sort of irks me if all you’re planning to do on an anime thread frequented by anime fans is flame about anime.

Anyway, I’m not going to journey any deeper into this argument. Did the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul Root A already diverge from the manga? Y/N

I don’t think Mikkmar was flaming, I expected it to be more ironic and funny. “Look at what beauty anime has brought us.” Maybe that’s because I’m into that, but I thought it was clever.

As for the Tokyo Ghoul, it only slightly diverged from it.

Hover for Tokyo Ghoul Season 2 Episode 1 Spoilers

Oh. Well, if that’s the case, then I apologize for my rudeness.

That’s what I am trying to comprehend.

Think Mawaru Penguindrum, but instead of penguins, there are bears, and instead of siblings, there are lesbians. That’s about it.

Also, I was planning to watch Chaos;Head after 11eyes, but I think I’ve had enough crazy shit for today.

The Spring 2015 anime lineup is STACKED.
Seriously.

proof?

Well, for sequels, we have gintama, oregairu, fate/stay night UBW, DxD, and Nisekoi as big name ones, among others. In terms of new anime, there are a number of interesting ones- Owari no Seraph, Ore Monogatari, Kekkai Sensen, Shougeki no Soma, Yamada-kun, etc. If adapted well, they could be great.

At the very least, it’ll be better than this season.

Plus, the entire lineup isn’t out yet. So who knows.

Don’t forget about that lesbian bears anime.

Lol, lesbian bear anime is this season. 1st ep. is out.

EDIT: My God, what am I watching?
