That’d make sense, since Robotics;Notes is part of a trio of Visual Novels which include Steins;Gate.

Hello fellow anime fans.

Anyone who watches / knows about the following anime they’d like to discuss? (You know, I haven’t bothered reading the thread).

  • Tokyo Ghoul Root A – My opinion: Terribad compared to the first season. Damn. The amount of wtf compared to the manga this anime has, it’s almost

  • As bad as Akame Ga Kill, which decided mid season to go COMPLETELY OFF story wise. What the hell? The manga is still going, Anime is done?

  • Also liking Log Horizon, tho it’s a bit stale at moments. Boring, almost. I’d rather enjoy some ecchi DxD or IS.

  • Last but not least, Death Parade. I almost feel like the studio behind Death Note had made this sick anime. It’s cool but also damn cruel ._.

  • Tokyo Ghoul Root A – I never really enjoyed the first season in the first place- I always felt that it was too rushed to have any buildup. The second season is even worse- the pacing has become so twisted and garbled it’s almost painful to watch.

Akame ga Kill – I understand their reason to do an anime-original ending, as by the last few episodes the anime had already caught up to the manga and had to spin off in its own direction. Granted, it was a terrible direction. I’ve caught up with the manga – it’s good, but not as good as I hoped.

Log Horizon – Immersive game world shows like these always deal with the problem of losing traction at some point. Log Horizon, SAO, 1/2 Prince all had to deal with this problem. The “lack of actual death” feature implemented in this show from the start only served to accelerate it.

Death Parade – This show is enjoyable, but lately I’ve been finding points that don’t seem to be that enjoyable. The psychological aspect of the show is starting to get a little gimmicky. Likewise, intertwining an episodic series with an overarching storyline have ultimately made for some awkward pacing.

I really can’t decide between Minerva and Vulcan. They both look well…pretty moe lol.

TWGOK is my favorite. Show. Ever.
I had never really liked any of the goddesses, but from the manga my favorite would probably be Diana. The manga makes Tenri a really likeable character, as compared to the brief seconds of fame that Tenri gets in the anime.

It’s not all that funny, but it might just be a bad dub.(I just prefer dubs, helps with multitasking).

I’m curious enough to just binge the rest of this. Even by supernatural standards, the plot doesn’t make any dang sense yet, so I wanna see the explanation :P

I considered Kokoro Connect to be more or less a romantic drama, rather than a comedy. I really enjoyed it myself. Inaba <3

If you have ever seen SAW and liked it, then you will probably enjoy Kaiji more than me. It’s a great thriller since I was on the edge literally the whole time watching it. It’s just a really niche show and not everyone can enjoy it.

    SAW?

Real bad? Why do you say so? I’m enjoying this new season.

For me, at least, this season has incredibly poor pacing, little emotional impact, and generally not enough suspense to retain my interest.

After my month-long manga trip, it looks like I’m finally starting to get back into anime after watching Freezing today. Freezing is still bad, though.

    Serious question guys:
Do you read the manga for anime that’s currently airing or is going to air? I am trying to decide that for myself.

    Like JoJo?

Not really. JoJo did it in a way that was self-aware and almost satirical in a sense.

I might have to look at Ultimate then. Is it required to watch the other one first, whether for understanding or chronology?

No. The original Hellsing deviates from the manga. Hellsing Ultimate’s basically a more faithful reboot. I ended up watching Hellsing first, though, because otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to watch it. The only pluses are that the animation is fairly decent for 2001 and the OST is very good.
It’s closer to a slice of life with quirky characters. I definitely consider it to be a comedy, just not a random chaos one. Comedy with plot, or perhaps plot with comedy. Pure comedy anime are typically terrible.

Who said comedy couldn’t have plot? D:
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is basically a parody romcom. It does have plot, but the original material is a 4-koma (panel) gag manga, so it’s pretty obvious that it’s a comedy.
When I saw Nichijou I went 5 episodes and had burned up any will to watch that kind of genre again no matter how talked up it was.

Please don’t watch Nichijou all at once. That’s bad for your health.
Mushishi is essentially about a guy who goes around curing people from what are essentially ghosts.

Yeah, that’s about it. I wouldn’t say the episodes are slow, just extremely peaceful and calming. It is a fantasy drama, and a very good one at that. Don’t watch this one all at once either.

Oh, I dunno if The Breaker is good or not. I just saw “Korean”. Sorry. D:
Read Orange Marmalade! That one is sweet.

Now that you’ve gotten into manga, you must get into korean webcomics. In order of sexiest:

    Magician.
    Tower of God.
    Feng Shen Ji
    Noblesse.

    Also relevant:
    The Breaker
    Girls of the Wild’s

Oh rats, I totally forgot about Homunculus. And yeah, that’s pretty much what I mean by “elitist”.

Speaking of Inio Asano, I read Nijigahara Holograph and Umibe no Onnanoko last night. While they were good, they were kind of confusing (especially Nijigahara Holograph) and over-realistic and IMO didn’t really compare to Solanin/Oyasumi Punpun.

I’ve always wondered. What would an elitist’s top 5 manga be?

In my mind, it would go something like this:
    1. Oyasumi Punpun
    2. 20th Century Boys
    3. Yokohama Shopping Log
    4. Aria
    5. Monster

The characters that are not named Ganta are decent though, but it’s hard to compensate for a terrible main character.

I mean seriously, he makes School Day’s Makoto a sympathetic figure.

I haven’t watched Deadman Wonderland, but I heard it doesn’t adapt much of the manga. Read the manga instead!
Plus, you won’t have to listen to his annoying voice when you read it.

So last week I finished watching Attack on Titan with my mom and sister, today I plan on introducing either Death Note or Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood to them (I’ll let them pick which one) and we’ll start watching it. I gotta say, I had no idea they’d be interested in it, but it feels nice to watch with the family.

Unfortunately there are a lot of other animes I like but I feel they either won’t like or it is ecchi and I don’t quite want to watch that with them. I wanted to watch TTGL or a few others but unfortunately due to certain characters (Yoko) I don’t feel comfortable watching with them something like that.

Have they watched Steins;Gate yet? D:

OKAY, NO MORE DEPRESSING MANGA. TIME TO READ ORETAMA ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I like it. Like bobby said, it might have a little too much eye candy, but it really fits the Gurren Lagann-esque style.

As you shouldn’t, but you can’t know what a top tier anime is until you watch it because that is subjective :P.

On that note, from what I’ve seen so far from Code Geass, I have the feeling that it is an incredibly well-made and decent anime, but I don’t think it has the qualities that define it as one of the best anime in existence..
…or so MAL sees it. I don’t know, maybe it’ll grow on me more in time.

Just finished chapter 99 last night. I didn’t want to stop reading at such a cliffhanger but I had to sleep >.<
Seriously though. Oyasumi Punpun. Good shit.

You read Onanie Master Kurosawa or Welcome to the NHK yet? I get similar vibes from those two while reading Punpun.

Yeah! I mentioned them a little earlier as part of my depressing manga crusade. Both are very realistic, although I felt Onanie was a more uplifting story than it seemed like it would be.
On that note, just read Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan (Our Happy Hours). Very very good, if a little short. Next, possibly a shoujo (Koizora/Secret Unrequited Love, maybe). After that I will probably go back to reading happy things. _

Holy fuck you read quickly. How did you like Ciguatera? It’s been on my PTR list for a while now.

It was… cynical. The pacing was strange. A little more light-hearted than I thought it was going to be.

I hated School Days. Code Geass, however, was amazing.

Poor School Days. Never will it receive a compliment, ever.

I’ve yet to find a forum where that anime has a positive general consensus.

Well, nobody finds SPOILER (NOT REALLY)cheating on other people a pleasant experience.

Okay, so I lied a little. Upon finishing Sundome (;_;), I got sidetracked by a recommendation similar to Sundome, Ciguatera. NEXT will be Oyasumi Punpun, then Our Happy Hours.
