Topic: Games / Games biting the dust Dungeon Keeper. EA is sitting on that title, damn them to hell. Someone even offered to buy out the franchise but they basically said no, we might go somewhere with it. Screw that, it’s been a decade since the DK games. Or maybe another Crusader: No Remorse game (it’s got one sequel, Crusader: No Regret). They never really tied up the story, what happens to the resistance and all that. It was awesome back in the day, think of the tech we have now (just don’t turn it into a full-on shooter, part of the fun was the puzzles). No game in particular, but we need a good space sim along the lines of Privateer / Freelancer. The recent entries in this genre have been disappointing shoot-fests. I wouldn’t be averse to more turn-based mech games like Battletech / Titans of Steel. Some of us like more strategy to our mechs than all-out action franchises like Armored Core (not saying that I don’t enjoy the AC games, it’s just that some gamers prefer large scale fights rather than mano-a-mano fps type ones). |

Topic: Games / I cannot find the find schop scroll in monster den Same as Draco18s, once I went 3 floors without getting 1, then I found one each on the next two floors. Huh. Holding on to your excess loot while waiting for a shop scroll is like trying not to pee while on a long highway trip and praying to arrive at next rest stop… as the miles fly past you feel your bladder getting fuller and fuller… |

Topic: Technical Support / READ FIRST! Common problems and solutions Thanks for the list, maybe make it a sticky? Although regarding: P: I am disconnected from chat, please help? S: Update your flash player < S: Kongregate is updating something, try again in 1 hour < S: Too much people online, chat has crashed < S: Your account has been suspended < This is a start, but we need more fixes. From the other threads it’s pretty apparent that it isn’t always the fault on our end. |

Topic: Games / Super Energy Apocalypse I love this game too, but it seems it could be developed further. No upgrading on the defense systems for one, would be nice if there were more units to research too. Plus if you play sandbox mode long enough to get a large fleet of garbage trucks, you’ll notice that come nighttime they will clump together in one spot and it takes a long time before they disperse. They also tend to get stuck if the pollution “explodes” on the square they’re collecting from. Also gotta note that solar and wind energy are practically useless. They’re costly, prohibitively expensive to upgrade, and produce a pittance (are you going for realism here? ;) because it’s too harsh). Geothermals are tolerable, although it’d be better if you have access to more than 2 thermal vents on the map for efficiency. Seems to me the best energy source for the moment is nuclear; just build the plant and the dump side by side and build an engineer to service it, and then forget about it. Fossil fuels is out because of the smog; natural gas isn’t so bad but when you start filling your map the pollution from all those vehicles adds up. I tend to switch my vehicles between running on natural gas or electricity as I juggle between balancing energy usage and pollution. Ethanol is kind of a mixed bag, I don’t like using up precious food supplies and usually I’ve already spent most of my research elsewhere. Stockpiles max out at 999 units, maybe increase this to 9,999? You could add more expensive units and buildings if you did. Right now it’s a pretty fun game, but it’s a little short. |

Topic: Technical Support / Not Connecting with Chat Server If we rule out (1) and (2), that leaves (3)... but that’s pretty unreasonable, considering IF the servers actually were down, there’d be tons of threads complaining about it. I’ve been unable to connect to chat either, despite Firefox alleviating the same problem with IE only a few days back. Now no chat at all. |

Topic: Technical Support / Chat issue Same issue, I posted in that other thread but got no reply. I was using IE7/WinXP btw. Now I have to use Firefox to get chat. Games load on either browser without problems though. It does seem Kong’s recent chat upgrade or whatever has problems. |

Topic: Games / how do you get 2000 points on survival mode on drone wars @Jabor: interesting, I ditched at wave 20 having researched 4 items (all 3 armor upgrades and 1 damage upgrade, if I recall correctly), and yet my score was 1.9k from battles and 300 from research—so I barely scraped by. Earlier when I hadn’t “gotten” it yet, I ditched at wave 12 for around 1,300 points. Have the points been increased? I didn’t like the game, my only strategy was piling on the armor, and alternating between cruisers and repair drones, then positioning the cruisers around the mothership. I let the fights happen automatically, manually moving ships around exposed their unfriendly AI (e.g. clicking on an enemy often made them move RIGHT ON TOP OF IT before opening fire, even when they were already in range before). |

Topic: Technical Support / Chat server is down I noticed I had Mozilla Firefox installed (I think my brother put it there), a plain v2.0.0.3 installation. Fired it up, went to Kongregate, clicked on the challenge… and hey presto, the chat loads, and I see the current challenge reminder in the chat as well. So is seems chat not loading is an IE/IE7 problem? :x I’m not one to take sides but I use IE7 pretty much exclusively simply because all my bookmarks and crap are all in there… not to mention the bunches of shortcuts I’ve learned. Oh well I’ll just use Firefox for Kongregate until you guys fix whatever’s wrong. |

Topic: Technical Support / Chat server is down Since a few days back chat has not been loading for me at all (Thursday, if I recall correctly). I just get the game window—the righthand side where chat should be is simply the greyed-out background. Obviously this means I won’t be able to complete any more challenges or badges, or even talk to my friends. I’ve been using IE7 since I came here, had no problems whatsoever until now. Nothing on my setup has been changed. Went to Adobe to update Flash, still doesn’t fix it. Added IE to Windows Firewall exceptions, still doesn’t fix it. Pretty sure I have no other connectivity / dns resolving issues—I tried pinging of1.kongregate.com, it resolves the IP and I get ping replies just fine. Somehow, chat simply doesn’t want to load. Please keep us posted. |

Topic: Games / WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE IT? Nothing you do will ever “improve” the image of minicity, thanks to all that spamming now we all automatically think “spam crap” whenever somebody posts a minicity link. Anything with “minicity” in it is now associated with FAIL and gets reported. And like Carados said, the comments are for the GAME. Post your minicity trash in the offtopic forums or in chat, don’t do it in the freaking game comment section because that IS spamming. |

Topic: Games / How the Hell do you beat Castle Crashing "The Beard" When he’s doing his laser thingy is a good time to get a few whacks on the top part of his head if you can manage to not get hit. I leveled up twice doing that, it got me the razor badge before they changed it from 4k frames to 4 minutes. Other than that, just wail on the tombstones for exp. I found it a bit hard to use magic, unless maybe I was charging it for too long (I’d prefer a different button). It was great fun for a short game, I wouldn’t mind a funny platformer based on this. Also, it would be nice to be able to keep a particular colour you like, because I liked the red’s spinning axe combo attack. |

Topic: Games / sonny zone 4 boss walk through I prefer generic solutions rather than specifics. (1) Ignition: yes, this one’s just a slugfest. (2) Omen: you hardly damage him, except when he’s powered up to deliver his special attack. When he powers up, stun him (you can’t use electro bolt to debuff this). Veradux’s poison will do a lot of damage here, so if you swapped Veradux out for Teco (the guardian, since he heals like Veradux but has access to guardian gear), you may want to consider bringing Veradux back for this battle. (3) the Doctor: another gimmicky boss. Ignore his hp; even though he has 1mil, each time you bring him down to 990k he will cast a 2mil heal, and uses very little focus to do so… which means you can’t slug it out. Using subversion is the key (I hate one-trick-pony bosses that force you to use a particular skill). Make sure you have a stun skill equipped, because whenever you bring him down by 10k hp he will heal—pace yourself, stun him just before the threshold, and use subversion. If your teammates move after you, their damage will HEAL him because of subversion, and that may push his hp back above 990k, so you’ll have wasted it (subversion’s cooldown timer is pretty long, so if you blow the attempt, most likely he’ll heal back, and you’ll have to deal 10k damage again). (4) Sinjid’s Shadow: when he has 100 (full) focus, he will use a one-hit-kill attack on your party. Therefore, your job is to use the Disruption skill on him whenever he regains full focus. I have to note here that Disruption often misses, especially if your speed is low. You can block the damage, and Amber can do it too, but you’ll have to pray that he does aim at the blocking character, which is not good. Other than this skill, he has 28k hp and you’ll have to whittle it down. Side note: I have managed to use subversion on myself and Sinjid hit me with his special, it heals for quite a lot (around 5k) :P However, you’re better off disrupting him because there’s no telling which of your team members he’s going to shoot at. Also, if you equip 2x Shatter Bolt as well as Break, it may be possible to keep him stunned most of the time (Shatter Bolt does not miss as much as Disruption does, and afaik Break never misses). |

Topic: Games / a few problems i have with sonny I agree the story should’ve been fleshed out a little more. Even for a prologue this is pretty short. Getting to control every team member would be too easy. It’s fine the way it is, that way you get more attached to Sonny since you have to “work with” the quirks of the other people—ever notice in other RPGs when you control a whole team, frequently you end up thinking of just their roles or stats? “The tank guy”. “The medic guy”. “The bow guy”. They’re changing this for part 2? Sad. I just hope they add more story and dialogue. Otherwise it’s just a nice-looking battle grinder (I beat everything including the final 4 bosses in the optional area with all 4 character types). I don’t quite like the arbitrary 5-times-a-day respec limit; it should be unlimited, but cost something like $1,000 or something. |
