I feel like the average age of Kongregate users would explain the whole “Kongredate” trend.

Vegard should be replaced as a mod.
I still wonder how he became a mod to begin with. It’s almost like giving the kid his toy so he’ll behave, lol.

To the online daters..
Reading the OP, I somewhat agree, however, as with all things in life, everything can be dangerous. I actually met a guy on here and we dated for little over a year— it was the best relationship of my life to date, and I never regretted it. There is nothing “childish” or “stupid” about online dating, and it’s completely inaccurate to say that people do it because they can’t find anyone in person. Sometimes, we don’t want what’s around us, and we find solace in those we communicate with online. There are of course cases where there’s creeps lurking for opportunities like these, but if you’re on the internet, there’s going to be a creep around no matter where you are. It’s the internet.

Me, my friend, Karianne and in the middle is Keith Wann. Keith is a CODA (Child Of a Deaf Adult) comedian that we saw recently. It was an invigorating experience seeing a comedian perform in American Sign Language :D

Social progress!
In addition to Hoole’s comment, I just actually watched a video highlighting the effect of social media and pop culture involvement in the driving force for this very cause. People on various social media platforms have been increasingly more recognized for their “useless” or “pointless” involvement in defending the cause. The intensity of a forest fire begins with a tiny spark.

Yea? Good for you! And no, that wasn’t sarcasm.
Though, I’m pretty sure I used the word “often,” because I know that there are people who still actively participate for the cause and frown upon activities such as these.

There has been a few people criticizing the act of Kongregate users switching their profile pictures to the equals sign that I’ve seen these past two days because they believe that active forms of involvement are more productive.
I find it ironic that these things are being said, not that the statements don’t have any merit to them, but because of the pure irony of it in that people who criticize activities such as these often are people that wouldn’t or don’t support the cause anyways— and are just trying to speak against said activity for the sake of arguing (or whatever their intent).
Additionally, what amuses me about these statements is that they assume all people who have changed their profile images have not participated in “more active forms of involvement”.

I would suggest that you actually look up what DOMA is, considering your post. It’s not about relationships, but the sanctity of marriage itself— an issue that is been changing day by day in the United States (and other places). At any rate, I decided to make an avatar event out of this, so if you don’t care for it, you’re more than free to ignore the thread.
Besides, this is where I see avatar threads going anyways. I do the rainbow avatar month in September in this very branch of the fora every year with no one having any problems with it, so that doesn’t need to change now.
racefan12: I’d say there are more avatar events held in OT, but the ones designed to appeal to Kong’s entire userbase are held in the main forum

You may think it’s pointless, and that’s fine because it is your opinion. Changing our avatars probably like you said will not even have an effect on the cause itself, but what’s nice is banding together with people who share similar beliefs. I don’t see anything wrong with a group of people doing something like this. I mean, Kongregate is all about interaction (after gaming), right?

Social progress!
As many of you know, this past day (Tuesday March 26th) was a very important day for members of the LGBTQ community and their allies. The Supreme Court of the United States allowed people to bring up arguments against the Defense Of Marriage Act (DOMA) to support equal rights for marriage.
There is love in freedom, and freedom in love.
In spirit of such a step forward for LGBTQ struggles, I will be using my current avatar for the next week to demonstrate my pride and support of the cause and to hope that DOMA becomes repealed, allowing any two people that love each other to marry without restriction. It would be awesome to see how many of you can do the same!
We can even make this fun; we can make artistic versions of the emblem that I can myself help create, or anyone else on Kongregate that would like to assist by request :)
Let us stand together!

Changes to the Collabs section
Originally posted by artizt:
This is my first forum post… I’ve been on Kong for quite a while now, using different accounts….
Somewhere earlier in this thread someone said that those sections were a place to congregate interdisciplinarily. I fully agree with this and just stumbled across this thread when I was just about to upload some of my music. The concept of a ‘real’ social gaming/flash site won’t work… People in my university started digging kong because of all the stuff it had to offer apart from games. Badges are cool, so is chatting and all this socializing stuff, but coming from a time when NG was in its baby shoes, I can say that a lot of people will say goodbye to this site once you put out all those nifty little extra features. Aside from being a complete flash game addict, the ability to upload my creative output is what kept me on NG, although that site also got a lot worse… I like the concept of kong, the looks and feels… But, and I can not stress this enough, it’s called KONGREGATE, so let us congregate and share our works, find new collaborators, have new input, create awesome projects with awesome people… Don’t make this site a shitty miniclip copy… There’s too many of them already…
In love
A pissed of user
This is perfect. Thank you for posting this!

I could never play Ness or Lucas. My best would probably be Pit or Link.
Lucas is extremely easy for me to play; I like how light and versatile he is. He can take quite a punch before he starts really being sent flying, and even then, he has a massive recovery ability. Ness in my opinion pails in comparison to Lucas just because he’s more power-based, and when you use his up recovery move, once it hits someone, it disappears. Lucas’ remains for several hits allowing you to recover even if someone touches the electric ball mid-recovery. Additionally, Lucas’ smash attacks have more than enough power, especially his up c-stick :D
And for those who think Olimar’s Pikmin are bad, you have vastly underestimated their power. For example, if you can pull out at least one purple pikmin per bunch, you already have a power hitter, and if you use the other colors to do damage, you can finish them off with a purple. I don’t find it too hard to reorder them mid-battle to get the purple one up front when needed. Additionally, the Pikmin have elemental resistances depending on their color, which always comes in handy even if the others get wiped out. Overall, the Pikmin if used right, can deal a lot of damage very quickly; his down and up c-stick smashes are really powerful, more so than a lot of other characters and because he’s so small, he can dodge certain attacks with more ease. I won’t even begin discussing his abilities to juggle multiple players =P

I don’t find that surprising in the least. Once a hacker, always a hacker.
