Topic: Technical Support / Opinion-Central Pop Up

Hey everyone

Over the last few days I seem to be getting a pop up specifically from Kongregate. Its from a survey website called Opinion Central, I’ve never used the website or ever even heard about them until a few days ago.

I try all my web browsers (Firefox, IE and Chrome) and they all get the pop up. I was just wondering anyone has encountered it on Kong.

Also to note it only happens the first time you open Kongregate webpage in your computer session for the browser, it doesn’t happen a second if you restart your browser that you used. But of course it happens again after you restart the computer.

I know that I can block it but my concern is that it is happening from the Kongregate webpage not other websites which I’ve tested. Also under is one of the URL from the pop up.

I hope no one has experienced it.

Actually isn’t Learn To Fly’s rating 4.45, while Sonny 2 and Gemcraft 0 is at 4.47.

Yep I just check to verify what Starry has said and its correct. But the funny thing is the stats depends on Protector III which will determine your stats on the second Protector when entering your continue file. Not sure if this happen to anyone else as well.

Luckily I already have the badges but is kind of annoying to lose your data.

Topic: Kongregate / L4D not in Australia. Why not?

I think I’d explain this last time about the different states needing individual permits, while some of the other states actually might not need a permit at all. Even though it is a free entry for the “trade promotion lottery” it still needs to follow those individual laws.

I’ll give an example for Victoria since I live their and know their laws better than the other states. Firstly it is needed to be identified as a lottery which it is due to the element of chance involved (if there is any element of chance involved it is classified as a trade promotion lottery to the best of my knowledge).

Secondly the total cost of the prize which in this case of the Xbox and the game is under the allotted $5000 (AU) needed to not have a permit, though the the ‘Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation’ may want information regarding this competition.

Thirdly no entry fee which is covered.

Fourth if the individual prize exceeds $250 (AU) the winner needs to be published in a Victorian newspaper circulating across the state, though I don’t know if this would apply for international organisations such as Kong.

Fifth winner needs to be notified in writing. (I think email is sufficeint for this aspect)

Lastly the promotional material/entry form must include the details closing date, when and where it will be drawn, means of notification for winner and conditions of entry.

That’s what you are dealing with if you are in Victoria without the need for a permit, while a permit is a whole other story. Then you have to deal with the other 7 states and territories who has different laws, for example South Australia needs a permit for prizes over $500 (AU). Also there would most likely be a issue of Kongregate being in the US which perhaps opens other laws. This is the convoluted nature of the Australian legal system which applies to all aspects of Australian life not just competitions and lotteries.

Anyways enough information for this post if anyone knows the exact details of Australian law be sure to correct me, this is just my basic understanding of marketing law. If Kong wants to pursue having competitions in Australia they might need to have representatives across the country which would be a waste of resources unless Australia changes their laws which is very unlikely.

holypoopies firstly he needs to use the link you have provided him to count as a referral. If he did sign up with your referral link it should show up in your points history. Checking your points history means it didn’t work. Also GirlsGeneration I think the same thing has happened to you as well.

In terms of the same IP you can still earn the referral points when the person starts to level up.

Topic: Kongregate / Some notes about dealing with stolen games on Kongregate

Personally I find the problem also lies with the ability to upload the games as well. There have been far too many ‘stolen’ games uploaded by normal users and this is causing the some of the raters to expect stolen games, which in turn causes valid games to be flagged and the spreading of hateful shouts due to uninformed users.

So I suggest that a user needs to verify with Kongregate staff members before they could be named a developer, then they could go with the process of uploading games. This will encourage the ‘real’ developers or game makers to contact Kong and discourage members who upload stolen games with disregards to the terms and conditions, though I can see the heavier workload and the amount mail the staff would receive. I know Kongregate offers an environment where people can upload games in a instance and at the same time be user friendly, but its different now with its increased popularity things may have to change.

In terms of my rating and flagging experience I tend to rate accordingly to the quality of the game. Giving the score of 1 is rare for me, its only reserved for those dress-up games or those chat only games. So I tend to flag games and I don’t usually comment on them either.

Also greg you would probably need put an announcement on the front page as the others have said, mainly because the people who write those comments most likely would not look in the forums.

Well these are just some of my thoughts and hopefully you’ll be able to encourage those developers who are put off by Kongregate to come back.

Well with the limited knowledge I know of marketing law in Australia (which I study at university for a small period of time). Kongregate needed to pay a permit to some states and territories in Australia. For example in South Australia if the total retail prize exceeds $500 Australian Dollars a permit is needed, while its $5000 in Victoria. (though I’m not sure if it still applies)

Australia is kind of screw up in this matter due to the fact that all the states and territories having their own laws. Some of these laws are confusing due to the fact that Australia doesn’t have a definitive law across the states in a lot of issues. Though you may need to consult a expert in this issue of competition law, in which I’m not.

Well in layman terms Australia is really hard to deal with sweepstakes and competitions, so it was best for Kongregate to go through with the void because the amount of time it takes.

Though hopefully Kongregate offers a competition for us Aussie that are on Kongregate.

Sorry for not explaining.

When you are in the nest mode of the game and have only 1 enemy to kill; wait until a clutter appears, because there will only be 1 enemy appearing because you need 1 kill. After I killed it (was actually trying to get the purple heart award), it turned into 3 smaller clutters but the game was not over even though there were 0 kills to go.

It slowly turned into 3 separate clutters which start shooting at you, to get more clutters spin around to release the little clutters and let them grow.

Then let the 5 or 6 clutters repeatedly shoot at you which could result in having 100s of little clutters attached to you, this is where you spin to release most of the clutters and swing your sword. Which would result in a high combo, high swing and high nest score if you keep doing it.

I’ve tried it once and I’m not sure if it still works.
It is best done in the small nest level. Hope I explain it OK for you entityrj.

Actually a best swing of 46128 is possible, as well as the 10,000 high score in the normal nest. This is all due to the ‘clutters’, which has help me get a score of around 170,000 in normal nest as well as a swing of around 50,000 and a combo of 132.

Though all the all-time scores in normal nest looks like hacks or they were very committed on wasting 10 or 20 hours doing the ‘clutter’ way. Unless they have fixed it within the game.

In terms of bestiary its obvious to identify and combos its highly improbable for a combo of 1000 due to the fact when I got 100 it was lagging so much with the amount of enemies.

Yep MisterColeman’s guide is pretty good, I did something similar except I started in Madagascar.

I was lucky that the ship from Madagascar went to New Zealand from around about day 15, with my observation I found New Zealand best at spreading the virus with the amount of planes and ships (to a lesser extend) coming out. Also I found the South American countries of Argentina and Peru hard to consistently infect, especially from New Zealand unless an infected plane plan arrives in Brazil early. Another point is tier 4 isn’t necessary.

Well as many has said there is a great deal of luck involved, especially starting from Madagascar and getting under 100 days. In the end I got 87 days from countless amount of tries.

Well this 30 games a day rating may sound like a good idea, but its pretty disheartening when you see a game with over 100 ratings and not being able to rate it.

Of course with Kongregate’s popularity increasing there will be more than 30 games a day, I think its around 50 games a day even though that includes some stolen ones. The issue is will this reduce the number of gameplays for certain games especially for the little independent guys, because there will be some members not willing to play because they cannot rate. I know some of you guys will say if its a good game people will play it regardless, but there are many examples where games under 3 stars which are pretty good games.

One suggestion is to have a counter of how many games you have rated within the day, mainly because I just logged on today after a 15 hour rest (I live in Australia, so i was sleeping) and still not able to rate. Though this could even discourage more people to play more than 30 newer games.

Personally I expected this issue of limiting ratings dealt with earlier, because of the supposed use of the points for items on the site or cards for Kongai. I really can’t be complaining because I was in the era of the 5 point rating system which has propelled me with this many points but this will affect the newer members greatly.

Hard – Light Life Badge (Luminara)

Impossible – No Orb Left Behind Badge (Orbular),
Was actually the Last Stand’s Sniper Badge until they changed it to a hard badge.

Yeah there is way to many points on offer when you have to install individual games. Hopefully the Kong staff will make these add on into one application which might solve the problem with the points that given when you install it.

Also as the others have said the earning of 15 points when inviting friends is probably to much. Perhaps it should be given when you actually get them to sign up to Kongregate which would mean it is a referral. Though this process will not need the referral link but some other system showing that was the friend you originally challenge and help to sign up.

Another point I might add is the Kongregate leader board which seems to show now that it is the ‘Facebook Player’s Profile on Kongregate’ with unnamed facebook players.

Yeah I have somewhat a similar problem as well, with the high score tab not working properly when I’m checking the top 50 list of scores. But for some games I still got those you have a high score for today messages. Hope it gets fix soon or it could just be a problem with my computer.

Now I need to find a way to get a PAX Tafari card, geez Nabb must be flooded with whispers so I’m probably not even going to try.
