Topic: Clicker Heroes / Well... The New Heroes Suck

Well, first, they’re just damage guys. No special bonuses, no +0.5% of DPS to click damage, no additions to total DPS.

Second, they’re pretty darn dull. All of the gods and mystical beings were really cool and impressive, but now we’re just getting environmentalists that look like cacti. I’m only to Phtalo right now, but looking at the ‘gilded’ screen only a few of them really look impressive.

Thirdly, I’m all for new heroes, but this feels… spammy. Yeah. You dumped a bunch of damage buffs on us to sate our hunger, but it’s too empty for my taste. Perhaps this is just a lead up to a big plan, but I seriously doubt it. Make some content. More ancients – those are in large demand. Make more levels (some people are complaining about the InfiniK thing), or introduce more elements. This update is seriously depressing to me. A single interesting ancient or a new ‘build’ would excite me to no end, but this is just… meh.

No offense – Clicker Heroes is a great game, and I play it every day, and I truly appreciate the effort going into this. Yet, I feel like 0.17 is just one in a long line of procrastination fillers.

I sincerely hope this long break from actual new content is simply a work period for a new feature at the scale of the Ancients update.

Topic: Technical Support / My forum thread vanished.

Well, yeah. I’m not sure if it’s:
1. Randomly vanished due to a bug, or
2. Deleted by a moderator.

It was a thread about a short script I wrote to remotely activate your skills in Clicker Heroes, and I’m not sure if it’s against the rules (well, ‘autocllckers’ are allowed, so why not scripts?) but if that’s the case, I haven’t received any notifications or warnings, nor have I received suspension of my account.

Anyone have any idea about how this works?

This has been oversuggested.

If its overly suggested, perhaps it means there’s a high demand for it. Ascending while your still able to instant kill everything is a waste. Even if you do ascend, you would still be instant killing everything for a while. It just takes 5 minutes of idling or so for your heroes to need to be leveled up again to get past a boss zone. Even if you idle with your frost leaf at 1k and instant killing, it would only take a few minutes for that to need to be leveled up some more to get past another boss stage.
Would you ascend at zone 1k when your capable of instant killing IF you babysit your game all the way up to 2k?

Maybe you misunderstand me. I mean only ascend when you have the time, then use this time to crunch through the insta-kill levels to the higher levels where you just sit and farm for gold. THEN you idle. At that point, the intervals between hero level-ups are far apart and the progression rate is slow, so the losses from being unable to upgrade is trivial.

That’s how I play, and I see no problem with the game. An idle game doesn’t mean that it doesn’t need any effort to play. It simply means that you can leave it idle for long periods of time.

Uh, yes. That is the point. If the developers wanted you to be able to choose your gilds freely, they would give you a free ‘choose gild’ button instead of having you reload saves over and over again.

Every 100%, another click is added to each manual click.

(i.e. if you had it at level 46, each click would count as 4 with a 60% chance to count as 5)

Should be “Swiftness”, sounds cooler.

Get Juggernaut, it’ll probably help you more. Or Fragsworth or Bhaal.

I don’t see why you can’t have Vaagur with idle build. I have Vaagur maxed. Also, “idle” doesn’t mean “never online”. I use Vaagur to speed through unkillable bosses when I’m free, and I don’t have a single active ancient.

Topic: Clicker Heroes / How To Play This Game (because apparently some people don't know how to)

Here’s an outline of how I’ve progressed, and I seem to be doing fine. Not suitable for those of you guys with 4100 level heroes, sorry. Anyway, here’s a brief summary of how you don’t get stuck 5 hours into the game.

Stage 1 (<100 hero souls)
Focus on getting all of your upgrades on your heroes. Not getting all of the upgrades is a huge waste, and getting 500 levels is impractical and not that useful. Don’t get started spending your souls yet – they’re currently worth much more just sitting around giving you DPS.

Stage 2 (<1000 hero souls)
After you get Frostleaf to 75-100, scroll up to Treebeast and upgrade the heck out of it. At level 1000, there’s a 10x bonus which doesn’t sound like much compared to the stacking 4x bonuses before, but it’s the point at which earlier heroes start to overtake Frostleaf 100. Do this until you get Frostleaf 1000. Also start buying ancients at this point. Focus on an idle/active build, NEVER mix them. In case you don’t know, idle is mainly Siyalatas and Libertas, Active is mainly the skill ancients and Juggernaut.

Stage 3 (1000+)
Upgrade your heroes by 25-level intervals. Start with your heavily gilded ones – they’ll overtake 1000 Frostleaf relatively quickly. Then evaluate your respective weak gilds along with the cost-efficiencies of heroes (best heroes in descending order of efficiency : Samurai, Brittany, Ivan, Seer, Treebeast, Natalia, Frostleaf, Aphrodite, Mercedes, source : YearOfComing) and do the same 25-level leveling. You should be moving at a steady pace, and even if you use an idle build, taking a second to skill-spam through bosses is always a good tactic for progress and gold.

Stage 4 (???)
Haven’t gotten here myself.

Cost for lvl 2 : 2, bonus becomes 40%
Cost for lvl 2 : 3, bonus becomes 60%
Cost for lvl 2 : 4, bonus becomes 80%
Cost for lvl 2 : 5, bonus becomes 100%
Maximum Level : 5

The dread of rising difficulty you usually feel when you progress seems to be replaced with eager enthusiasm as Janus smiles at you with one of his three heads. You feel luckier, stronger and more confident as your pockets pile up with more gold from the new monsters’ loot.

You messed with the game. It broke. Apparently this is the developer’s fault. Perhaps you should call for help the next time you hack the game and give yourself negative infinity gold and delete all your hero souls?

Mine is a detox plus drill, cluster and damage. On a radiated planet? Don’t want to waste your turn? Drill away! You can detox, and blast people off your planet. Drill level 2 for optimal effect, but 1 is fine too.

Well, I’m level 43, and I’ve seen plenty of high levels use mines. In many cases when units are too far apart and at a wrong angle to shoot, a mine is a great and slightly more accurate substitute for a drill, which can be saved for long-distance shots.

Well, I’m certainly not as late-game as you, but I would say that Khrysos would be immensely helpful for the relatively tiny price it would take you to max. It basically jump-starts your game, and since you’ve got Isis it’ll be even more useful as you now can actually use the level you’re on.

Basically, max Khrysos and get started on Chronos.

Features are in the game to provide fun and utility, not for balancing. Sure, many balancing features exist, but most are ‘soft’ balancing (balancing through adding playable features) instead of ‘hard’ balancing (e.g. removing the replay button cough devs cough). Adding an entirely pointless accuracy bar that’s unnecessary and cluttered just to make a small portion of newbies stop targeting high-health players is just plain wrong. A redesign is in order, not a balancing.
