Considering that Elements still doesn’t have any of the aspects of why people hate paid CCG’s (Pay to win, since fancy chimera has no advantages, and energy system), there’s no reason not to consider Elements as the only other free CCG.

Topic: Clash of the Dragons / How to Fix Frozen/Gray Startup Screen Problem

Recently, when I tried to login the game, the game froze at 100% and didn’t proceed any further, even when changing browsers and whatnot. After manually clearing cache (automatically clearing your Flash Player files runs the risk of deleting all your Kongregate game files) and refreshing my browser, I managed to reconnect! Someone else in the chat had a similar problem – all he got was a frozen gray screen, and manually clearing cache worked for him too. So here’s what I did and told him to do:

If you are on Windows, go to the appdata folder. You can either type appdata in your Internet Explorer or search it from the Windows start menu.

If you are on a Mac, go to the ~\Library\Preferences folder, the ~ representing whatever your name is.

Find the Adobe folder and click on it, then click on Flash Player and then AssetCache. There should now be a folder named with a string of random letters and numbers – click on that.

Inside that folder should be a lot of files named with strings of random letters and numbers, and a text file named cacheSize. If you want to be conservative and keep your old caches, try to find the most recent files and delete them. If you don’t care, or just deleting the most recent files doesn’t help your problem, delete all the files in that folder.

After you delete the files, refresh your browser – you may even need to restart it. The game should work now!

If you have any questions, comments, or the above does not work no matter how many times you delete/refresh/restart, just post them here.

Topic: TDP4 Team Battle / random spawn turned off?

I actually love it with a passion. It greatly encourages teamwork and, in CTF, it feels like you’re fighting an actual battle with territory gains or losses towards the enemy flag. I mean, the Army doesn’t randomly drop soldiers onto the battlefield and hope they find each other before they die.

And besides, CTF gives an incentive to risk pushing forward and creating a physical conflict. This is much better than a Cold Day in Hell game with no Nicks and all 6 players camping, with no one moving. (now THAT’S a stalemate)

Like I said before, some people prefer to make their crews less casual and more competitive. That’s their choice. :) I just personally believe that there’s no harm in Multicrewing. I mean, crews are a player-run thing anyways. I don’t think I have anything else left to say, so have fun responding to new posters. :)

Working as a casual team to build great levels in an organized manner? Again, there’s no concrete prize for making a great level, so, crews are not competitive teams that try to get a $100 prize ASAP by building levels nonstop.

Well, I’m a more casual player, so I just don’t see multicrewing as a bad thing. Unless your crew is extremely active and all members are constantly creating maps, another crew is useful when your crew isn’t building anything at the moment. After all, you can’t use your code if the level’s not up anyways (and room owners can change code any time). Of course, if your crew only makes non-saved maps, multicrewing won’t be beneficial.

I hope we get more posters though, lol. Btw, it’s called an ellipse. :)

This is a casual game. Most players don’t like to stay in the same room for an extended period of time, whether or not that player has the code. Also, if the crew is big enough, you’re usually not needed to work constantly.

Contests might make things more competitive, but feuding over a game with no concrete prizes is just plain silly imo. I understand that some players might want to make things more competitive, but again, EE is a pixel-drawing game. Not World of Warcraft or Call of Duty. If someone thinks that they don’t want their crew members to join another crew, they don’t deserve having crew members.

These are just my thoughts though. I’m not saying that EE might not become uber-competitive in the future or that no one will want to stay exclusively in one crew.

In my opinion, crews should be a casual game – I mean, EE is casual, not competitive! (you don’t get $1000 for having the most played room, now do you?) Sure, if you’re playing a competitve sport like soccer, it’s not normal to be on multiple teams in the same league. However, being on a team can just mean being part of a group working towards a common goal, which applies very well to EE.

Topic: Everybody Edits / Free members should or not get 3 saved worlds?

I certainly hope non-betas don’t get pro bricks/smileys. (I’m a non-beta btw) Lots of betas are already dissatisfied that stuff like the factory package, coin blocks, etc. has already made it non-beta (they used to be beta). Beta needs something to justify their $10 payment, something more than just previewing rights. Also, Hunka, I’m 99.9% sure you can buy saved levels in the energy shop even if you’re non-beta, unless you’re talking about something else.

These are actually great ideas. Animated smilies would give EE a bit more of a “Role-playing” feel. Also, a smiley crossing ability would allow some creativity, but should prevent obscene smilies from being created.

Water block may be a little too much though, but it would definitely help minigame with art levels.

Lol, I think at least 30% of male Kong players are over 18+. Of course, most of the other 70% are the trolls, the spammers, and the whiners.

Did anyone force you to read? Do you get paid to read that? I take 30 minutes out of my own time just to try and be helpful to the Kong EE community and have my post generously long, and all you do is complain about it? Wow, I thought better of Kong. :/

Meh, if they troll, we have TWAbbles and Hunka. Besides, if they really want the benefits, they’ll think twice before acting like a 7 year old. “I ar 9, what is EE?”

I HIGHLY doubt that anyone can be 100% trusted, at least by every single EE player. Just because Billy Bob Joe trusts Danny with the bottom of his heart, doesn’t mean Danny won’t troll anyone else’s level.

Are you a Hive Reg that frequently edits levels with me or helped me with Ninja Valley Pros? Then come on in and post here; make sure to check back often for discussion and updates!

The Hive is a Kongregate chatroom; some of its members frequently come to EE. If you want to edit with the Hive Crew, come join The Hive chatroom and fraternize with regs! (WARNING: Hive regs do not take trolling lightly AKA do not troll. Ever.) There are many benefits to being in the Hive Crew – like code access to Massive and Huge saved levels; we also have chatroom regs and a mod who have either beta or ADMIN blocks – if you ask nicely, they might put in your level!

Topic: Everybody Edits / EE Tips From The Pros!

1) Teamwork is definitely key. Even if you want to make the majority of the level because you want it to be a certain way, it ALWAYS pays to have friends test it, comment on the artwork, or even get a beta/mod/admin add exclusive blocks for you. If you ask Hunka nicely, he might do it for your level.

2a) Do you want lots of people to come to your ninja/platforming/minigame level, and stay in your level? Well, first of all, make sure your beginner area is fun and not too hard. Even if you plan to make your level evil and extremely challenging, keeping the starting area simple will ensure that people will at least stick in your level for a while and get a feel for your level. Don’t make it too easy though! Otherwise veteran platformers will assume the entire level is easy and will get bored very easily. Once you get 30+ people in your level, they’ll probably linger in it for a while to help you get more players instead of quitting right off the bat.

2b) However, that’s not all. You’ll want to slow increase the difficulty – great enough of an increase that veterans will start to get a little more challenged and less bored, but small enough that new players won’t get frustrated. This is friends will come in great! Some of your friends may be vets and ace your level; others may send you hate messages. You know you’re on the right track when more and more of your friends send you hate messages and your vet friends start saying “this is mean”. :)

2c) You’ll also need good art to attract people. If a part of your level is blocky/clunky and doesn’t fit in with the art, use the old black blocks (not transparent) so that it doesn’t ruin your minimap. Use old black blocks for jumps too, unless the jump fits in with the art (maybe an outstretching vine, rock, etc.) Also, use keys + key blocks in moderation. I hate levels that are just red, blue, and green all over – I usually quit instantly. Maybe put a key here and a couple of key blocks for an interesting challenge, but otherwise, use regular blocks that fit in with your art. Alternatively, you can blend it in with your artwork – red with volcanoes/underground, blue with sky, and green with swamps/forests.

3) For art levels, make sure to have some nice challenges in between it to keep it interesting if you want players in it. Like I said in section 2c, blending challenges with the art would look excellent.

4) Remember, the more players you can keep in your level, the more players that will come. Find friends in chat that you can ask to come to your level, copy and paste your level name in chat every FEW MINUTES (please don’t repeat it every second – you’ll just get muted). If you really have to, make multiple tabs and have guests sitting around in your level. All you need to do is get to 25-30 players, then, as long as your level can keep players interested, you can stop asking people to come in chat and close out of your tabs. You can sit back and watch as people stream in. :D

I can do certain types of background art very well (I could just go to your level and see what I can make look better. I CANNOT do people) and some ninja/minigame challenges in between the art if you need.

When I’m not working on my own level (which is easier said than done, as I have to test each area myself and with friends, tweaking difficulty as needed), I like to go around and find good levels. Ones with art combined with challenging ninja platforming usually attract me.

Topic: Everybody Edits / The "Play My World" Thread

Name of level: Ninja Valley PROS.

Description: This is an adventure level with ninja obstacles mixed in based in a Fantasy RPG setting. You came from another dimension via portal, and your goal is to traverse Ninja Valley, picking up gold coins along the way, and reaching Solar Palace. In general, the farther along you go, the harder the ninja obstacles are going to be. A large part of the level has already been complete, but new areas are constantly under construction (until the Solar Palace is finished, of course). The level has received lots of praise by players who came to the level; it has pretty nice art and is a formidable challenge!

Topic: Elements / My Deck Sucks. Help Needed.

The water/poison deck Blood_Shadow posted is VERY effective at beating level 3’s, and beating them quick. I used that deck until I got to score 500 and switched to rainbow, but that has helped me win countless battles. I’ve even been able to beat powerful decks in pvp duels. Only problem are devourers and stuff like that because of the 1 water quanta you generate per turn.
