Yep. Only do honorable things…like attempt to stem the tide of recruitment into other clans by entering Kong boards several weeks late in order to boost your own numbers for war actions. Be sure to throw in a few filler sentences for goodwill while barely disguising your actual motives. After all, you wouldn’t want them to know that you didn’t care about them at all until it was clear that you needed them to win. This game is for everybody…except for people who can’t fight your battles for you (“we don’t need someone who can’t follow order [sic]”).

Remember kids, honor is smiling at your fellow players while reaching for their ankles under the table.

Well, the same words spoken by other devs have worn us all thin…there is not much left to give.

In any case, I wish you would not refer to my words as “unnecessary fuss” especially after you removed story quest reset scrolls because of that single guy that didn’t actually read through everything. Game balance is a delicate process and to treat it the same way as any other update (“developer always knows best” policy, make the player guess what is happening) is a little…disrespectful of other people. It used to work back when everybody was children, but these days, that will not do, especially when the game’s focus is on honing your ability as a player instead of running around like a headless chicken.

If you say so….but I don’t like being kept in the dark about fundamental changes. I enjoy surprises, but not like this :/

And yes, it’s true that one incredibly strong player AI will stop a major army from attacking a tile on its own if the other side does not have its incredibly strong opposite player to remove them from play. It’s like Dynasty Warriors but more silly.

Note: technically, old equipment was never “worked hard for” since drops are entirely random. The only drops I would say that take effort to obtain are rings.

Okay, so, just to start. I want to be reasonable. I know you deleted the other thread. It doesn’t have to be that way. If it’s going to be that way, I will have to accept that since this is your game, but it would mean so much, as somebody among others who actually put money into this game, that you would step up to your budding reputation and hear us out.

So, you’re a developer, who runs an online game. And you do right by your playerbase. You listen to their concerns. You make updates to your game that, by all means, make sense most of the time and are much appreciated, unlike a bunch of other games that just screw around and base their decisions on money. You even removed story quest reset scrolls even though that one guy who got really mad about it already left and there is nobody who actually benefited from that change, minor as it was.

So, why do you insist on making such drastic changes to something as integral to the game as removing stats on equipment, and not have the means or time to follow all the way through?

I can understand why you made the change. After all, certain stats dominate builds due to the way they’re set up, and perhaps you wanted to encourage more variety. Or you thought that, thematically, these gear items would not have these bonuses. But you never did the clean up that comes with these things. You left in all of the gear that came before exactly as it was, creating a class of rare item that is insidious to all online games: unique power gear. And this is already the second time!…

I can even understand why you would not want to have to pick through every single item owned by every single player and make that change. You also do not look forward to dealing with how you would compensate those players. However, not doing so would be very irresponsible.

As a developer, I want you to understand that there are certain things that you can’t take back if you just leave them as they are for too long. And although you may consider the existence of those items as one of those things, that is more true than you would think. The damage that they will do in the long term will be significantly worse than any kind of effort or time you would have to make now in order to resolve the issue properly. There is literally nothing that anybody can now do to obtain those items besides begging and scraping under an already elite class. This is why Maple Story relies on short term gimmicks to generate interest: as soon as players hit the higher levels, they all have to scrabble for a pool of exclusively available items that remove the barriers to incredibly unbalanced builds made possible by equipping them. The ones that can’t get those items….they just go away. The rest just flex their egos and make dumb global broadcasts while camping in the market all day.

Now, I know that even though having better stats does not automatically win battles, I should not ever have to face a situation where it is impossible for me to defeat somebody of the same skill level as me because they have an artificial edge that I cannot match through any level of ingame effort. The soul of your game is that any player, even one starting now, can fight their way to the top if they grit their teeth hard enough and reach for the sky, just like every single silly shonen where everybody wants to be the best and inspire each other to work hard. But now that sky is just the looming ass cheeks of another player planted squarely on top of the universe, and that is as far as they will get until the stat gap is no longer an issue.

I will remain respectful. I hope that the other players can also maintain dignity, but I can’t answer for them. However, if you are already set in this decision, I cannot stay and spend my time knowing that it won’t amount to anything, and I can’t recommend this game anymore for that reason.

That’s a global timer for army actions. It’s 24 hours per attempt to capture/defend a space for every clan. At that time, troops in each space are tallied up, each soldier opposing another dies, and the remaining forces win those spaces.

If there is no HQ but there’s still a flag, that means that there is some kind of action being performed there, but your clan doesn’t care enough to have an HQ built there, or is already completely winning and has removed the HQ as it is no longer necessary.

If your AI character is killed in an attack on the tile you’re on, you will be ejected from the tile and have to re-enter from an HQ square.

If you are trying to defend a tile, it is usually a better idea to defend from an adjacent tile than standing in the tile directly.

Yeah, I would like to know how much each point of the secondary stats represents in terms of percentage. Also, the costume bonuses are rather unclear. +X number = Y% increase??? Is this increasing a chance out of 100%, or is this a percentage of the base chance? There are so many numbers, but almost zero explanation.

The only thing I was lacking in was the ability to log into the internet five times out of seven every single week, so I’m not going to argue for the worthiness of such an arbitrary condition that doesn’t take into account vacations and heavy work schedules. The only thing that many of these people had was more convenient free time.

had same issue since update a few weeks ago

i don’t remember how much angels or money i had because the number is massive and i’m not obsessed enough with this game to keep track of it independently

i don’t have a backup export save because i didn’t think the game would just up and explode without any warning, not that it would help since there’s nothing to enter into a crashed plugin screen

i had the crash award and i don’t feel like resetting clean without it (if i could even figure out which of my hundreds of hidden, cryptically named system files is the save and then clear it out and have it work)

i have also basically missed all of the christmas event

i don’t know how a game can mess up this hard without any recourse for recovery

but obviously none of this is their fault and they don’t owe me anything because it’s free!!!

Looks like they changed the badge of the day, today, due to the issues. I guess I got another badge of the day, although it forgot that I earned the kids vs ice cream one in the progress for the shiny kongpanion, so I had to get the second one too just to be sure that it’s going to count for the crown.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Steam Defense] Enemy hero abilities/Combat Regen (or the lack of it)

Yeah, I’m gonna have to bring this up: how can smoke grenades be used without hilariously backfiring on you? In addition, do they even cover against most of the dryan special attacks? So far, all it really seems to do is make the enemy pass right by you to hit your buildings, which is significantly more detrimental than tanking the damage and/or forcing the AI to cast earlier so that they don’t just rush past you and target your buildings.

note: health regen and armor is probably the most significant for survivability, but i managed to run at least halfway through the human campaign with armor equipped and hardly any of the other stats

ofc, by the time you hit the point in the campaign where it stops working, you probably already have the full set of abilities, so you can grind pretty fast and just sell all of the equipment drops (there’s only four items which you technically need to have, and they’re not exactly common so you won’t really miss those drops)
