As a pack becomes Gold purchasable, it will not be available for Shards. Awakening will be the first pack, obviously.
Not impressed? Neither am I, so shut up.

Bug? Conquest CR total from event?

The above image from the rankings screen shows Brothers in Arms with 75 CR. The below image from the Token collection screen shows our actual CR.

I have a vague recollection that on the last day of the Conquest event, one of our CR 2 tiles was converted into a CR 17 tile—a difference of 15 points. On fortunately, when we go to collect tokens, Tyrant knows we only have 60 CR and gives us 6 Tokens, not the 7 Tokens we would earn from CR 75.

[To Devs] Why no upgrades for level reward cards?
For the low low low price of 300,000 Gold.
Small notes on the eight cards mentioned in the OP. Three of them were originally crafting cards. One of them was a winner from the card contest. Elusive Panzer was (is?) very good in a few raids. Avatar and Destructive Ram are relatively powerful for their levels (25 and 50), but Special Forces was always a fail card. Rally and Tribute on the same card could easily spiral into the land of ultra-overpowered, and it seems that the devs were far too conservative with this card.
Also, Solar Powerhouse* is very strong.

This morning, I filed a document titled Motion to Strike Brief of Administrator–Appellee. In legal language, “to strike” a document, evidence, or testimony means to disregard it. I still struggled to write it, I only slept for three hours last night, so I am sure it has typographical errors, missing words, and some odd sentences, but I feel that I made my point. On the other hand, I only had three hours of sleep when I said to myself, “this is good enough,” so the entire document might be gibberish! The first part of the document talks about the historical development of Anglo-American law and why constitutional law is so important. I think most of the seven people that read my website will think it is interesting and informative.

Some of the ideas mentioned have been good, some have been quite wrong, but most of the best substitutions have not been mentioned. Looking at the tab U3 Worksheet will help you understand the function of each card. Then looking at the tab U3 Cards will help you see the lists of cards as they get progressively shorter. Choosing cards from the shorter lists is probably the best way to find a substitute card.
Also, on win rates, I never use combined win rates for manual decks. For example, I don’t combine all three copycat decks into one optimization because the results are not accurate. In the downloadable files, I have a tab called Batch that makes it very easy to construct batch files to run on all of the Quests (or Missions or Raids or Events or Enemy decks or anything).
So one could replace the Hammerthorns with Monarch, Mech Aid* or Flux Blaster* to fulfill the Meat Shield role, or the zarak with say, Tremor wyrm?
Especially the first three are excellent ideas. Replace Zarak is more difficult, but Tremor Wyrm might be a good choice. Zarak is in a class of cards that is extremely small and difficult to label. It’s not merely Strike All 2, and since it is a Structure, it is sometimes better and sometimes worse than an Assault card. On the worksheet page, I preserved all of the best 3 or 4 card decks that use Morgan* and HoC and with win rates over 95%. What is surprising to me is that Zarak is not common at all in those decks. It might be that it is not necessary to find a direct substitute for the second Zarak. Look at the best order decks and see which decks use two zaraks. Try to find something to substitute there.
Also, on the U tabs, I only used one Zarak, so that might give you some ideas what to use instead.

This is the way to do it, in my opinion. The basic idea is good idea because it allows more precise control over card attributes and allows devs to make a wider range of useable cards.

These sentences are all true.
First, don’t harp on Moraku. She said fractions, but used rational decimals (which ARE fractions) as examples. Using fractions or decimals are both possible, but rational decimals are probably a better idea.
In English, when discussing math, the word “fraction” means a ratio. It is usually expressed with a numerator and a denominator, such as 1/2, 5/8, 3/7, 17/4, or 1/9. All of the preceding fractions can be expressed using decimal notation. So every fraction has a decimal notation. In fact, every ratio has a decimal notation, but some ratios are difficult to write in decimal form. Pi is one of the easiest examples.
But not all decimal numbers are ratios, so not all decimal numbers may be expressed in fraction notation. (Hey wiseass, don’t say that any number can have a denominator of 1 and be in fraction notation. It’s not a funny or clever joke, so just keep it to yourself.) Right now, I am having difficulty recalling an easy example of an irrational decimal sequence. Can someone help me out here? I have a vague recollection of a method of using a Fibonacci sequence to generate an irrational decimal, but I can’t remember how that would work.
In any event fractions are a subset of decimals, and decimals are a superset that include fractions and irrational numbers, so the two terms (in English) are not interchangeable.
[I am doing almost anything I can so that I can avoid writing. The deadline is in about 28 hours. I’m a dumbass sometimes.]

Currently in progress to discover a cheap deck with similar winrates:
DarkBlood’s CHEAP Universal Quest Deck for Tyrant [Google Spreadsheet]
Edit: I posted these ideas when I thought he was working on manual/ordered versions. I’m not sure how much these ideas will help with auto, if at all.
Cool!
- Take a look through my spreadsheet and test-files for more ideas.
- Hammerthorn is a meatshield, but the Enfeeble is also useful. Consider Pyro Rig*, Monarch, Engulfing Horror, and anything with Armored 2 or higher.
- The simulator/optimizer will produce better results when you have duplicates of cards, so try to substitute two identical cards for the 2 Hammerthorns. See http://www.kongregate.com/forums/65-tyrant/topics/266271-simulator-limits-we-are-ignoring-good-decks
- Also, looking at my spreadsheet, you will see some of the last cards that got cut. Flux Blaster* was the very last change I made, so maybe looking at a version something like this will work: Morgan*, Enclave Signal*, Flux Blaster*(3), Heart of Corruption, Ospry(2), Warpway Fortress, Zarak(2)
Good luck!

Universal Quest Deck
If I am reading your numbers correctly, your win rates for manual are actually higher than you think. For example, on the Time Surge Quests, you optimized a deck against all three Quests at the same time. The result is the best deck against the average of all three. But if you optimize against one deck at a time, you will get better results.
In my downloadable zip file, in the main spreadsheet file, I have a couple of tabs for building batch files for optimizing. Other people can download the file and customize it to their liking. (See http://www.kongregate.com/forums/65-tyrant/topics/341014) For you, however, I went ahead and made two batch files for you: manual and auto.
Some notes about the syntax. Starting with Tyrant Optimize 1.0.14, there is a new operator that forces the optimizer to use a card: the exlamation point (!). To use it, place the ! directly before the card name. Since you want to use a 10 card deck for all Quests, I put the ! before all of the card names. I also used the -fixedlen flag although that was probably unnecessary.
(Sean, you might know this stuff, but other people won't, so this is for their benefit.) Second, at a command prompt the greater than symbol (>) redirects output, usually into a file. If you only use one greater than symbol, then if a file with that name already exists, it will OVERWRITE the existing file WITHOUT WARNING. On the other hand, if you use two symbols in a row (>>), it will append the new information to an existing file. So, the command below will create two files for you. One file will have the manual results (and be quite large), and the second file will have the auto results.

OMGWTFFFS’s Quest deck win rates on manual, according to the optimizer
Measuring win rates with a simulator/optimizer of decks such as this can be very difficult. The optimizer/simulator only looks at the average situation. A skilled player can improve the win rate with smart game play. Still, the win rates can give a rough estimate of a deck’s strengths and weaknesses.
For the following results, I used OMGWTFFFS deck (below), and had the optimizer try to find the best order for each Quest on 100,000 climbs. (I also ran Mission 276, but he never claimed it was good on 276.)

Hey trigger-happy moderator! The following script was given to us by either a forum moderator or by an admin.
Will someone find the original post? There is one in the Tyrant forum and it quotes a Kong technical support forum or something. So why remove the post, huh? I want trolls to mute my posts so they troll less often. Do you want trolls to troll more often?

HH POSTED his universal grind deck: all 24 Quests and Mission 276
Someone offered, as a gift, to give me US$150 of Kreds. The person doesn’t really play Tyrant and would certainly not be able to build the deck. For reasons I will not discuss, I did not accept the gift.
The calculations I used to determine what it would take to have a dedicated deck slot and 11 cards dedicated to this deck:
Don’t need to purchase
Heart of Corruption—I have two, and I decided I didn’t need a third.
Gold expenditures
Morgan* 35000
Enclave Signal* 20000 (for the upgrade)
Hornet Drones* 50000
Total gold needed: 105,000
War Bond expenditures
- Deck Slot 10
- Zarak (2) 50
- Warpway Fortress 25
- Enclave Signal* 50 (Buy two unupgraded)
- Ospry (2) 70 War Bonds for 7 Energy Refills to generate 2000 Event Points and 70,000 Gold
- Gold 30 War Bonds for 3 more Energy Refills , which would yield about 30,000 Gold for a total of 100,000 gold—slightly below the 105,000 Gold needed
- Hammerthorn (2) 688 War Bonds. With a 7.25% chance of getting a Hammerthorn from each Flashpoint minipack 1, then it takes 344 War Bonds, on average, for each Hammerthorn. Of course, there would be bonus Rares and Legendaries from the packs that don’t have Hammerthorn. But the deck requires two Hammerthorns, so the only alternative is to wait months for Hammerthorn to be in the Vault.
Total War Bonds needed (on average): 923
Sadly, it’s possible to get unlucky and not get two Hammerthorns, but it doesn’t matter because these calculations are purely academic—I already posted the deck.

HH POSTED his universal grind deck: all 24 Quests and Mission 276
For reasons I will not discuss, I am posting the deck and all of the data. Download all of the data here
http://www.hunterthinks.com/solo/games/hunterhogan_universal_quest_deck.zip
Card List
Morgan*(1)
Enclave Signal*(1)
Hammerthorn(2)
Heart of Corruption(1)
Hornet Drones*(1)
Ospry(2)
Warpway Fortress(1)
Zarak(2)
The decks
For optimal results, all of the decks use less than 10 cards. If you download the file above, you can see what the results are if you always use all 10 cards. If you always use all 10 cards, the lowest win rate is Step 13 at 88.351%, but oddly, the win rate with 10 cards for Step 14 (the other Impenetrable Quest) is 99.159%. Overall, always using 10 cards reduces the average win rate from 99.2069% to 97.7318%, a difference of 1.4750%.

Other potentially interesting cards would be:
Revered Monk*
Hope Mason
Split Jaw
Ram’s Head
From my testing:
- Twincannon buoy—good but not great
- Hornet Drones*—off-the-scale powerful. I almost used two of them in my final deck
- Clamber Husk—I agree you don’t need it for Siege, I was saying that the Protect All 1 is useful, and since it is Raider, it can get Augmented by Orwald’s and Protected by Metalworks before Clamber Husk activates
- Revered Monk*—I only found useful in the Copycat Quests because they are are highly durable and the deadly once activated. Of course, this only matters when someone is using a Commander without Mimic.
- Hope Mason—strong card. It is in my 22/24Q deck. It is exceptionally versatile, and one of the cool things it can do is allow you to use more Structures on the Impenetrable Quests.
- Split Jaw—good card in general, and decent card in a universal Quest deck, but there almost always better options. At one point, I went through every Quest and calculated the average number of Structure cards and average number of non-Wall Structure cards in each deck. I seem to have deleted my calculations (why the hell did I do that?!), but except for Impenetrable, all of the other Quests had less than 3 Structures. In my testing, most Quests could be defeated without any Siege at all. But since Warpway Fortress is in every deck, it was almost never necessary to have another Siege card. When it is useful or necessary, Split Jaw is almost never the right answer. So if Split Jaw is useful, it could only be for speed, Refresh, Enfeeble 2, or attack. I’m sure you know that there are better options for all of those attributes. Split Jaw never made any of my short lists.
- Ram’s Head—never made my short lists. But, maybe because of your heavy Raider usage, it might be useful. Still, I think there must be better options. Genetic Chem? Anything with Cleanse All? Radiance? Any Jam All Action card?

You are welcome.
In my testing, Energy Spiker was weak, so I think you are correct that it could come out. Clamber Husk wasn’t weak, but it wasn’t incredibly strong, either. My approximate rank for the card is in the 40 to 50 range out of 1200+ cards. There are about five Quests that really like it: Impenetrable Quests of course. Against any Quest with Rally All, Strike All, and the Friendly Fire Quests, IF you can get Clamber Husk to activate, then you are in good shape. But it seems relatively difficult to get it to activate—like on Quest 24. In other words, you might not want to discard Clamber Husk to hastily because it has excellent synergy with Orwald’s and Metalworks.
I’m running the ordered version of the deck right now, but it takes a long time—a few hours.

Just run the optimizer locked on 3 cards-orderded for each quest.
Have JUST ONE empty slot to switch things.
Now for each quests step you got a deck of 3 cards, easy and fast to assemble (all over 90-95%).
Done :P
This is a good idea, if you have a large enough card pool.
If you do, then you can get win rates above 95% for all Quests by using -fixedlen for 3 cards and on the few Quests that don’t produce a 95%+ win rate with 3 cards, use -fixedlen with 4 cards. A few things to keep in mind:
- You must have a good card pool
- Your seed deck can dramatically affect the results. Try multiple seed decks for each Quest to make sure you get good results
- A higher climb number takes longer, but it will give you better results. 25000 is the bare minimum you should use on Quests or Raids (10000 for Missions). I use 100,000, and the results are excellent. With my recent deck development, the difference between a deck optimized using climb 100,000 and then simulating 1,000,000 was less than 1%. Example: if the optimizer said the win rate was 50%, the simulator would report that the actual win rate was somewhere between 49.5% and 49.999%.
- If you make your decks this way, it still requires switching out cards for every Quest.
- Nevertheless, it is a relatively fast way to find 95%+ win rates for all Quests.
It’s not the same goal as what I worked on, but for some people this method is preferable.

As far as your deck, gratz. I also have one deck that I use for everything, though I couldn’t even guess at what the sim thinks its win % is. I don’t auto, so the sim probably wouldn’t like it.
Yes, I like to build my own decks, too. As for the simulator, you can check your numbers by doing this:
- In your ownedcards.txt file, only list the cards that are in your deck
- In your Custom.txt file, list the deck
- When you run the optimizer use the -o flag to limit it to the cards in your deck and use the -fixedlen flag to make sure it doesn’t remove any cards
- The results will try to estimate your win rate for that Quest. Your actual win rate on manual will likely be higher because you will play the cards intelligently rather than based on an average order.
Plus, there are limitations inherent in simulators and optimizers, and depending on what’s in your deck, your win rate might be significantly higher than what the optimizer claims it to be. See http://www.kongregate.com/forums/65-tyrant/topics/266271 That thread was supposed to be about the limits of simulators, but it is also an example of how bad trolling was back then. Nearly every thread was that vitriolic.

I’d like to point out that despite muting both shian and dna at some point along the line, I eventually unmuted them because I kept unhiding their posts to quote and troll them…
Oh, and a Happy XXXXing Birthday to you.
Good point. I unmuted some of Shian’s posts, too, but I left most of them muted. It was a very useful tool back then.
Thanks for the XXXXing birthday wishes! :D
Oh, wait, I said something nice, so this post might get removed.

Good point; I forgot about that. I don’t know why I keep expecting people to be nice. I don’t like that my expectation that people will be nice, kind, and good almost seems to be a character flaw. Do we really want to live in a world in which everyone expects everyone else to be mean and do bad things?

Doh, nearly forgot, Happy Birthday.
That is an interesting perspective, and if people viewed my post that way, then I can understand their negative reaction. Looking at my original post again, I can understand why some people reacted that way. Thanks for sharing that perspective; I will try to avoid making that mistake again.
As for sharing decks, there are few people that have shared as many decks than I have shared. (darkblood1 is one of the few.) In fact, I shared so many decks that sss1 threatened to ban me and a few other people that posted too many decks. I shared them expecting something in return—other people to share their decks. In the time before the optimizer, we shared decks so that we could all make incremental improvements on the decks and to learn from each other. Even with EvalDecks, deck building still required some skill. There are many lengthy discussions about this exact issue on Kong and on the Fansite (at least they used to be on the Fansite, I haven’t looked for them recently).
