[Announcement] Wartune Server Merges 05/16 @ 10:00 PM EDT
^ That, I do very well agree, is complete and utter crap.
I’ve taken note for quite some time now of the developer’s (or would it be r2, or both, anywho someone) money gathering strategy (which has and apparently is still working for this to continue) in terms of server opening/merging/etc. Basically;
1. Open ‘base’ server. It’s open for quite some time, long enough for who’s who to be established, and long enough for anyone new coming in who wants to be up the top a bit being unable to simply because others have played longer (monthly events with mounts, that kind of stuff, free or cashed, doesn’t matter much).
2. Open second server, so those familiar with the game wanting a ‘fresh start’ and a chance to play knowing everything from ‘day one’ and also have money to throw down to get there while they can (this supported by devs/r2 in that spending a certain amount of money within 7 or so days of new server obtains the underworld steed (or whatever it’s called, the one that was available again from the recharge/spending event recently for 500USD) when people tend to not get to level 40 or beyond that quickly if they aren’t doing the above anyway, which most are).
3. Both end up half active/not full capacity/taking up space for r2 and essentially ‘wasting money’. Merge, and give awards for the new top 10 or whatever they are, prodding people to spend even more to stay on top – the very thing those on the base server as well as the newer one had already spent much to do to begin with.
4. Repeat.
I’m not saying it’s idiocy on behalf of those who spend due to gaming being their hobby anyway, nor am i saying for anyone to use their funds differently just because i said so…i’m saying it’s kind of insulting and blatantly money-hungry to use this tactic endlessly then provide sub-par customer support, especially when regards to issues for money spent/recharged anyway. Non-optimised loading/server-side issues not being addressed, but all of the above is like clockwork while the real core issues go unresolved. The longetevity of Wartune while under r2 publishment for english servers is highly questionable.
Money talks, but if anything bottoms out I’m going to watch to see if anyone of note finds work elsewhere. It’s more depressing than infuriating.
