I don’t support this white supremacy shit

Yeah because only white supremacists are racists. Racism against whites totally isn’t the worldwide standard or anything.

Why do so many white people feel the need to always make it about themselves?
Shut up and actually focus on someone else for a change.

Sorry to interrupt your liberal guilt, sir!

I guess I’ll just stop talking about the prevalence of anti-white and self-hatred sentiment in the US and Europe, ignore the rampant third world immigration crises in the United Kingdom and Sweden, and the white genocide currently happening in South Africa. Shaneequa and her 5 legally retarded children have a right to cry racism when they’re kicked out of a store for stealing.

P.S. I’m Slavic, the most oppressed race in the history of the world.

It has nothing to do with any kind of guilt or self hatred of any kind, there is a time and place to discuss anything, but right now, the discussion be about violence against black people committed by the police.
That is where my issue is, that something truly awful is happening to other people, then whites comes in and say “hey guys, we have it rough too”, which might be true.. but still, sometimes you have to support others.

It really depends on where you are in the world though, in te US for example white people are undeniably privileged and not in a position to avert attention from what is going in because of the Mike Brown and Eric Garner cases.

As a Norwegian (or technically half Norwegian, half Albanian if you want to be specific) i do actually feel the need to separate myself from any injustice that white people might face, because it is not happening to me or my people.
I can’t talk about it like it is my own suffering, and no one living in the western world with no ties to elsewhere should do so either.

Yeah, if you want to discuss anything as complex and difficult as racism, i’d suggest taking time to actually write something more thoughtful than “stop racism” and “don’t be racist”.
There are so many things to take into consideration, that simply dismissing racism as bad is quite ignorant. Anyone that is not complete and utter moron knows that racism is wrong, so making a forum thread about it is kind of stupid honestly.

People aren’t protesting to abolish racism completely though, that is not what any of the things going on in the US is about.

Actually interesting you would say that, Tarantino is very much a genre fanatic, which is why all of his movies mixes very distinct elements of niche genres.. like spaghetti western, martial arts, neo-noir, revenge film, exploitation flicks and etc.
Which is why i love his movies, because many of those genres are borderline dead :P

Difficult question, labelling movies by genre can be a bit problematic in my opinion.. not that it is completely useless to do so, but within every genre the quality is so inconsistent that i never find myself constantly seeking out a specific genre.
Like with comedies, i love films like of Shaun of the Dead and Snatch, but at the same time i do really hate a lot of comedies too, like Bridesmaids and Bad Teacher are in my opinion infuriatingly bad movies.

Anyone else feel this way?

While i do think the guys in Iron Maiden are talented, i can’t say that their music is my cup of tea.. i rarely listen to metal, and when I do, i prefer other sub-genres.. 5/10

Anime is simply Japanese cartoons. How something looks is irrelevant. Another trend I find is that cartoons like Spongebob, Dexter’s Lab, etc, do not have any continuation. Every episode is its own, if they die in one episode, they are back to normal in the next. MOST anime is not this way (Space Dandy is one I can think of is) Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, Full Metal Alchemist, and Steins;Gate are some examples. To the flip side, Avatar: The Last Airbender has new things each episode.

But overall, Anime is Japanese cartoons, Cartoons are non-Japanese anime :)

I understand the terminology, i just think an extremely inconvenient and useless label.
What it looks like is what matters though, style and substance is essential to what someone will enjoy, nationality isn’t.

The same reason why people say “I like animals” or “I like Italy”. It makes communication easier by narrowing down characteristics. If they’re not brain-dead oblivious to what an anime is, they will probably figure out that the person is talking about Japanese animations catered toward Japanese people. Literally the only people who use “anime” to mean animation in general are people living in Japan. The rest of the world use it to define strictly Japanese animation. You don’t hear people say “Man, did you see that most recently released Disney anime?!?”

But anime doesn’t tell you anything at all about the show, it literally makes no difference to calling it an animated show.
We know what an anime is, it is animation from Japan, but that is the issue though, the nationality is irrelevant.
I would never think tell someone who watches Pokemon to check out Attack on Titan simply because they both are Japanese shows. Would you think that True Detective and The Big Bang Theory are for the same people, because they are both American tv-shows?

Anime is useless term, that is my whole point, calling a show anime, or calling the same exact thing an animated show does not change anything about it. You have no idea if you will like it based on neither of those descriptions.

Think about it that way, who would you recommend Cowboy Bebop to, either:
A – a person who loved Pokemon, Digimon and Dragon Ball?
or
B – a person who loves sci-fi, neo-noir, and classic American cinema and music?

And you know, bringing up Disney is actually interesting, because when you say Disney, you know what you are in for to some degree, same goes for Studio Ghibli. You do not need to call them anything more, because you know whether or not is your thing based on other movies by them.

Like, i love Cowboy Bebop and Wolf’s Rain, but i can’t stand Naruto and Pokemon.. All are apparently anime, but at the same they have nothing what so ever to do with each other, (Beside being Japanese, but that is irrelevant)

Funny. I thought being Japanese was the defining trait distinguishing anime from other kinds of cartoon.

Well Legend of Korra and Torkaizer both looks like Anime, but neither are Japanese.. and Cowboy Bebop is heavily influenced by american cinema, which is very obvious in it is style, animation, music and plot, even the English dub is preferred by most people who normally only watch subs. Yet it is considered anime, while bearing no similarities to most other big animes, like Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Death Note, Dragon Ball, One Piece etc.
So why do we then put it under a highly arbitrary term that says nothing about what the show is about or who would enjoy i?

Does Legend of Korra and Avatar count as anime?

Its an american made cartoon with the style of japanese anime. The culture used in the show, I have noticed, is a cross between japanese and chinese so it soley isn’t based on japanese culture. Not to mention that animes usualy start as a manga where avatar did not. So pretty much, no its not.

Well, fair point, i personally think most people are taking the whole anime term way too seriously, as it extremely vague and non-specific. I mean in the end they are all just animated shows, so it doesn’t really matter what you label them as.

Discuss Black Friday.

I think it is very easy for certain people to condemn Black Friday, but one thing they forget is how a wonderful opportunity it is for poor and lower middle class households to acquire luxury goods and christmas present for a reasonable prise that they normally could not afford
