Topic: Kongregate / When Will Unity Games Get Badges

Originally posted by Cammy_G:

Hopefully never.

I don’t know why there are so many haters refusing to accept unity. Although the games now aren’t as good as flash and are quite bland, it has much potential. I get better graphics at unity (3D and texturewise) AND better performance than in flash. I really hope some of the good games receive badges because it would promote unity applications.

The new look is… ok… It’s a bit messy but provides more options. And what’s with the changing looks of both facebook on kongregate ;p I think there’s some sort of conspiracy here.

Suicide. It’s selfish to murder someone that could be any person in the world (including the people who are smarter, prettier, sexier than you).

Shot in the head/Suicide

Nah, I don’t want to kill myself yet but I’ve always find that particular death truly fascinating. It’s just, so effing EPIC. Ofc, I would be defending my ideals in that way, and I’d get to perceive and maybe understand a couple of seconds of death (because the brain would probably not just turn off the instant a bullet goes through it).

Topic: Serious Discussion / Implications of Allowing Gay Marriage (Polygamy/Incest)

The reason is because you can’t know what the dog wants, nor is the dog legally capable of making a decision.

Actually people can be pretty certain that some dogs may want to (and usually do) spend their whole life with one owner. Plus, I am taking the case where the animal is not exactly harmed OR abused.

Are you arguing that pedophiles should be allowed to do it if the child says it’s okay? I should hope not.

I am not. I am putting them equal to homosexuals in THIS PARTICULAR CASE using your arguments such as “if they want to they should.” Maybe I was wrong to put them here though and I admit that.

cpasley made this excellent point to. If heterosexuality was the way nature intended it, and everyone was heterosexual, and people were molded after their environment, no one would be gay.

As you pointed out, in nature there are numerous errors and deformities without having an apparent cause. Something that happens in nature sometimes (not always) cannot be considered as normal. Sometimes a huge earthquake shakes the ground, that’s okay though because the Earth needs to release the stress that built up in its crust. Sometimes animals kill themselves, and some people suicide. Does that mean that blowing your brains is normal? Or natural?

Topic: Serious Discussion / Implications of Allowing Gay Marriage (Polygamy/Incest)

Fair enough. In my original post (which was admittedly a month or so ago) I specifically said we’d avoid any dogs, children, etc. for that very reason. I have no problem defining marriage as legally consenting adults.

And why don’t you give freedom one step more. The dog would surely love its owner if one treats it rightly. If the owner loves it too, who are you to forbid them what to do.

Yeah, I’ve always loathed that argument. “If we start letting men marrying men, it opens the doors to bestiality, and rape!”

Good for you… But that’s a bit hypocritical. Most people reject totally bestiality, but when it comes to homosexualism they say, “Oh, we shouldn’t judge people for their sexual orientation.”

Unless they feel threatened. Wolves would kill a lone wolf, so that he could not eat food from their territory. When two lion prides encounter they don’t just wave to each other and continue doing their own stuff. When basic needs are not fulfilled animals tend to act hastily and irrationally.

Tisk, I am not sure whether this can be applied when concerning the topic food. Since humans or other animals are ready, to kill a being from their own species if they feel threatened, than why wouldn’t they do the same if they are hungry?

Topic: Serious Discussion / Cannibals

Yeah, the main problem is that if you are eating a diseased human you would most likely catch the affliction that the person had. This is (like Viral said) probably noticed by our ancestors; thus, they made it a taboo (well, most of them did). Just like random sex was a taboo (STDs).

It’s shturmovak but nvm :PP

You offer the Relativity of Wrong and I grasp it with both my hands. As I said before that’s the best we know, and we should stick to that.

There are small refinements we should do our theories, and it’s highly possible that in the case of light, they exist.

It’s not the same – from both a physical and mathematical sense, traveling at a speed above that of light is impossible. While perhaps we’ll eventually be able to utilize wormholes or otherwise manipulate spacetime to our advantage (and thusly create “shortcuts” in the fabric of space – allowing traversal of the universe beyond the rate at which light would traditionally be able to traverse it), traveling at a velocity higher than that of light just doesn’t make sense; it would require literally infinite amounts of energy.

This is based on our knowledge about the world up to this point. We are not right in science. On the contrary, most things we study now in schools are probably wrong, but we study them because that’s the best we know.

Topic: Serious Discussion / What will happen to our sun in lets say....

Slipstream, it is not the intelligent animals that survive throughout the years. Actually, exactly the animals that rely on strength have been most successful in that (like sharks, crocodiles, etc.). The humans are actually an exception.

Perhaps the Amish actually have the best idea. Technology will bring our downfall, probably, mainly through weapons. Modern thermo-nuclear weapons could no doubt level entire continents.

So? Should we stay and live in caves because there is a threat? Up to what point? Up to the point when the sun explodes or turns into a red giant? That’s stupid. We need to risk our safety now because otherwise we would be dead for sure.

Dossage, they can be used in the cruel machine of society. As brutal as it may sound, the world would be a better place with them only if they joined us. Otherwise, no one would care. They may even teach us a thing or two about ancient culture but that’s about it.

Pf, yesterday I watched Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and even though it is meant to entertain and not to provide scientific facts or figures, there are some good ideas presented there, no? Even though the stuff that is “offered” in the movie is not something new, the film gives the big picture pretty well.

Gods from heaven? Iron birds? Chariots of fire?

We are to them what others have been to us. Of course, I don’t claim this as a certain fact, but it sounds pretty logical.

The thing that could be a problem though is if we give them our technology too quickly. Maybe their way of thinking is not adapted to ours, so we will have to introduce them bit by bit to our life. Otherwise, a strong cultural shock may hit those poor tribes.

And to all you nay-sayers I am going to say that preserving (in a sense leaving them alone) such tribes is wrong. Call me a Nazi, a Commie, whatever you want, but that won’t change the fact that their way of life is inferior to ours, and that they are most probably farther away from this ultimate truth that lays somewhere in space than we are. A likely development of events is that sooner or later the tribe would cease to exist, or start on its own exploring the world around it. I think the better way to introduce them to our world is through a friendly approach, and not leaving them alone get hit by a car.

Yes, but if you isolate these people you don’t actually make humanity happier and there is no progress.

I don’t think it’s OT since it’s the main argument why we should leave these people alone.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Should we leave these people alone?

They may our, but then the question why are they there and why should I care is born. They have no significant impact on society, and the only thing that stops us from assimilating them (which, on the other hand, is an imminent result) is the fact that we want to apply our MODERN views to their ANCIENT society. This doesn’t work, though, so we have to be objective and forget about cultural differences and preserving culture.

There’s right and wrong types of happiness? ok…

Thing is, we live in a meaningless bubble too.

Yes, but their civilization if let alone should leave in the best scenario to a civilization as advanced as ours. Why do we have to allow them to do this when there is no point? We don’t need another person to find America or the hot water again, do we?

Real life has no blue pill.

You speak of certainties without any evidence backing it up.

MOREOVER, is happiness the most important thing in life?

Right now legends are being made there about the gods in iron birds… Maybe we should help them. Even if they are happy, they are happy in this meaningless bubble.
