No clue… I just logged on to find my server missing, and I can’t find any mention of outages either.

Topic: Realm of the Mad God / Voting: Better chance of getting weap/chance to keep them when die

Given the fact that the realms only hold 85 people each, and there is no ability to earn either gold or fame by selling gear, and there is no market in which you could buy gear anyways, I see no reason to make it so hard to get rarer items. Speaking from experience, the only chance the average player has to even hold onto a rare item, is if they’re lucky enough to trade for it with some kind-hearted soul. And, even then, once you die, the item is gone… likely to never be replaced any time soon.

The math on the rarity is actually not that bad in a sense, as its intent appears to make it so that a rare item is given to 1 player in 85, or .0117[etc.]. What is unfortunately not taken into account, though, is the fact that the actual number of people playing through each realm is likely to be 10 times the “full” rate, due to having to teleport back to base every time things start to go south, and thanks to all of the new characters spawned to make up for those who died before they could make it back. In my own experience, level 12-16 seems to be where things really go south for you if you can’t get top tier gear, meaning that most people, unless extremely lucky, will never even get the kind of loot drops that would lead to special gear being bestowed.

Also of concern, is the fact that with some coding systems, a .01% drop rate equals a 0% drop rate, as it is less then 1, and therefore would fail to trigger the event… in this case, a loot drop. And, as many bosses seem to not be dropping any loot at all, I would wager that the drop rate is per instance of the boss being killed, rather than being in any way cumulative, making it virtually impossible to get the top level gear. In fact, you would effectively need to kill a specific god 100 times to stand a 1% chance of getting their special item. To me, that’s a bit excessive… especially given that many gods can “1 shot kill” even 20th level characters if not already decked out in the best gear. Gear, of course, that less than 1% of the characters ever have at any given time.

So, yeah…. I’d say the item system needs to be looked at a bit closer, preferably by someone who is both good at statistics, and has access to the server logs. Then again, adding an auction feature to the game could also solve the problem, and make it so that so much loot doesn’t waste away in the realms. Personally, though, I’d say that’s ALOT more work than just getting the math right. ;)

Afterthought/Edit: Thinking about it further, almost every god hunt I’ve been a part of, had 20-30 people on it. That means that the single item drop becomes 20-30 times rarer, automatically, since everyone can rush in and grab things willy-nilly. So, rather than having to kill a god 100 times, it’s really more like 2-3,000 times. Personally, I have better things to do. lol

Topic: Swords & Potions / WTF moments

I agree with pwakip. I’ve played plenty of games where I’ve had to wait 10-30 minutes in order to play again. I’m cool with that, as I know it is typically done to reduce server load. However, in this game, rather than getting another 7 days for the wait, you get 1, along with 30 minutes of an advertisement for “day packs”. While I respect a developer wanting to make money from people playing a game they have worked on, you have to actually let people play the game, if you want them to spend money… plain and simple. When I come across games like this, I play them maybe 3 or 4 times, if that, and then forget about it; not due to being too cheap to pay, but rather because I’m not able to really get into the game enough to care about coming back for more.

Sad, too, as this game has alot of potential.

Topic: Swords & Potions / WTF moments

My WTF moment, was when the first few days ran out, and I had to wait 20 minutes to play again. Then, after only going through 1 day of play, I got another window saying I had to wait… and this time, it was for 26 minutes. I mean, seriously…. does the developer even WANT people to play the game?

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Unnamed Multiplayer Artillery Game, Open Alpha Test] Guests and ranked games

Originally posted by SimplyKevin:

It’s ridiculous that this issue was never addressed. The fact that unranked guests can participate in ranked games is beyond stupid. […] There is no way that any guest should be playing in a ranked game. Let them play amongst each other.

I completely agree. Having people playing as guests in the ranked games area screws up everyone’s ability to play a proper game, despite having fun trying. Put simply, these “guests” can be either complete wastes of space, or high powered players in disguise, simply hanging out to cause chaos.

Personally, I think that people should also be limited to playing those whom are within a certain percentage of the others, as well, though. Having someone who is capable of taking out 3 people for every time they die, pitted up against people who only live one time out of three, is pretty screwed up… both for the skilled, and the hopeless. For instance, .01-.50 can play each other, .51-1.00 can play each other, etc., etc…. that way, you can at least practice properly, without fear of being stuck in a battle with 3 high powered people, and you also won’t just be sitting there picking off the whole screen without getting hit once. ;)

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Kongai] New Round of Kongai Beta Invites!

Sigh I second Silhana up there…. I was getting all excited about turning Level 12, as someone had said in chat a few days ago that that was the new cutoff….. I have 13 cards already, asked to join the Beta back in February(?) when it was still just first come first serve, and still nada. Short of magically developing my own games to post, or somehow getting every “hard” badge there is, I’m starting to feel as though my efforts are getting wasted. (Not like I’m doing anything productive by playing games anyways….lol)

Topic: Kongregate / Suggestions

<balneger>

I actually suggested the concept of an Easy, Medium, Hard sort ability for the badges on the page immediately before this one….

<general>

The white background doesn’t really bother me any, but I could see the point of using something a little more “attractive”, even if it’s a simple CSS tweak allowing for the background to change color, etc. depending on the user’s choice. As a website developer myself, I can say with confidence that it’s an extremely simple little add-on to use, too… so if they feel like doing it, the mods on here can always contact me if they need the couple lines of code. ;)

Topic: Kongregate / Suggestions

While I have to admit I could only stand reading through the first 10 pages, and the last 3 pages of the 49 in this list… I only have two things that I feel should really be considered :

1) Delete or move this thread, replacing it with a list of what has already been suggested, with notations on what has already been done, what will be worked on, and what will never be done. That way, those of us wanting to make a suggestion can avoid going insane sifting through all of this.

And, the real reason I came in here…..

2) Provide us with the ability to switch our badges view order so that we can more easily go through and work on badges by the difficulty level of the badge. Grouping it by game, etc. is nice… but being able to sort by difficulty let’s you know when you’ve missed the intro badges, etc. way faster and easier.

Thank you in advance… and hopefully this post won’t be lost in the thread ;)
