As a amateur game developer who pretty much just develops games for fun not money, I say this is a very good thing. Big sponsorships (Like the Stride, and LfD2 ones) bring money to the site, WHICH kongregate shares with us &quot;indie&quot; developers. We're getting a good piece of this pie ;)

Also, games made by Armorgames, or sponsored by newgrounds (I think newgrounds employees have actually made like 3 games over the years) on kongregate bring more people to the site, which play our (Small hobbyist developers games, and give us money). And as some have already pointed out, they are small indie companies themselves, and need all the help they can get.

Bottom line: More games and sponsorships isn't kongregate selling out, it's kongregate getting bigger (And richer) which is good for EVERYONE; the gamer, indie company, part time developer, hobbyist developer, and the company itself... Which has to make money to stay up.</body>

    <body>As those who have played it know, my new game is very hard. So I thought I would put a short guide with some tricks in it.

&lt;h2&gt;Story Mode:&lt;/h2&gt;

Try to gather as much EXP as possible. If you get a ton of it in the first three levels, and upgrade smartly, the rest of the game will be easy.

Upgrade your missile level and missile damage as your first priority. Upgrade your health at least once every two levels. make sure you have your nuke power upgraded a couple times before the final level.

&lt;b&gt;Tips:&lt;/b&gt;

You can play &quot;hit and run&quot; with most bosses. There is very little need to take them head on.

Play low to the screen. Playing high will just get you hit before you can react.

The invincibility bonus also fills your health at its end.


&lt;h2&gt;Challenge Mode:&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Challenge 1 &lt;/b&gt;

You actually get one nuke. Use it sparingly 

&lt;b&gt;Challenge 2&lt;/b&gt;

    <body>bq. 1) There&#8217;s a comment that says the game needs texture, and I agree; a little highlight and shadow could really help the visuals.

Improved Orbs, and different size, and shaped &quot;orbs&quot; will definitely be in the next one. 

bq. 3) Definitely the red/orange/yellow collection. Solely because it usually went with me seeing one of the right color and having had it change to purple or something by the time I got there.

Yeah... That level was put in when the orbs all started out blue. It was much easier and much more predictable as to what it would be. I guess there will always be situations where part of the game changes, and it effects how other parts of the game play. I just need to start planning out games before I build them a bit better.

bq. 5) It&#8217;d have to be a separate mode most likely, but both the songs would work really well for a music synchronization level, even if it was just the standard collection levels with the popping in time with the music.

I _might_ try to add a mode with one song in the next one. But doing something like that is very difficult. I'm not sure if I would want to somehow route it in to the sound system in flash, or make a pattern set and use that to the song. I'm just not sure yet...

bq. Also, every game needs a pause. I realize it&#8217;s not as simple in a game like this, but if you had a pause hotkey (I think space would work nicely), and pausing blacked out the screen, then it put a resume button where the cursor was, it should work fine.

Yeah I will put a pause in the next one. I have done pause systems in quite a few projects, they really aren't hard to do. I just didn't really see a need for one in a game that gives you a &quot;In-between screen&quot; every 60 seconds :P

I am proud that a simple idea of color explosions could get 2 decent games, but I really like them, and want to know what could make them better. My games seem to have the ability to mute all flash applications running in the browser. E.G. It will mute a youtube video, but the video will say it's putting out audio.

What gets me is that I'm not using any of the volume controls in flash, just a Boolean variable seeing whether to play the sound or not.

    <body>I like the idea of a premium service. I don't want it to take away from the site if you're not a premium level member AKA pogo; I just want there to be some advantages for those willing to pay. And before I get flamed on, I would not be willing to pay a monthly/weekly fee, but kongregate needs revenue, and this would generate a good bit of it.


Here's what I would want in a premium plan: 

-Premium badges. They would have a silver outline, and would have a separate area on a persons profile. Maybe even give them bigger pictures-Make them more &quot;artsy&quot;.

-Premium chat rooms. Being as most people who would pay would be adults, or older teenagers, they would be better behaved, and more controlled-At least that's how it seemed to me on pogo.

-Mature chat rooms. Adult chat rooms where nothing is off limits would be popular. Not going to argue for or against it, but it would be popular, and used.

-Two week heads up on all kongregate sponsored games. Kongregate has been sponsoring more and more games, so why not allow premium members to get a two week advance on all games kongregate has sponsored.

-Automatic entry to all premium games beta/alpha stages.

-10 kreds for every month they sign up for the premium service .

-Ability to customize said users profile.

-The ability to have AlisonClaire prank phone call one person, at any time.  


All these things would bring in a lot of members, and bring in revenue, which could be used to make kongregate better for everyone, and keep the site alive. If kongregate doesn't start making money, it won't be around for ever. So think about that next time you flame someone for proposing such an idea.</body>

    <body>I'm going to agree with the general opinion and say the art forum needs a tag system like OT has. I have been looking over the art forum when I can. (Not as much as I should, sorry aC! School and work have just taken up a bigger part of my time lately.) I don't think behavior wise the forum is bad. It just gets unorganized with all the request threads, most of which die withing a week or so.

I really think a tag system would allow users to navigate through the forum much easier; solving most of this forum's problems. The only other problem I've noticed is: People do tend to get into &quot;flame wars&quot; more here then on most other forums.
