Well that’s the thing with card games. You take a break, and when you come back everyting that was powerful is now obsolete. More so if the game is fairly young.

Since I kinda necro’ed the thread I might as well just help oter free-players with little or no epics. I did it with a 23-card gear+removal deck with Wilrus as hero:

Gear:
2 Mage Mantle
1 Essence Mantle
1 Long Sword
1 Shadow Dagger (I was lucky, but on this match 2xLong Sword will do the trick)
1 Hero Ring
1 Drums of War

.
Removal
3 Fire Ball
1 Volatile Concoction
1 Sylph Assassin
4 Lightning Elemental (use Molten Furyball if you have them)

.
Finishers
1 Skybreaker Giant
1 Seraph Knight
1 Deathless Wyvern
1 Ancient Charge

Fillers:
2 Relinquish
1 Gift of the Ancients

Tips & Tricks

This is what I used, but as long as you have half decent removal and can get some passive hp gain, you can easily win either by killing or by milling the opponent using other cards.

With this strategy you just have to look out for his abilities: Don’t get milled by Nemesis’ 4-point skill. Make sure you have no mana left whenever this will be up. It will screw your strategy in every possible way.

Other than that, just keep enemies “calm”, manage the incoming damage, Let your gear do the work, and drop big hp creature for use with Penance before Nemesis can steal your charges away.

Enjoy your new free hero on completion.

i’m having trouble with this one mostly cause new to the game and still don’t know the cards.

How do you avoid running out of cards because of the extra discard? Even not killing his “mill” creatures, natural draw and discard always kills me at turn 6 =(

Indeed. At lvl 11 alch lab (about 1 month of gameplay) you have a 3.8% chance of succesful combine per card added to the pool. It only takes 20 copies of the same epic to get one legendary.
Not to mention that as free player you’ll have a hard time simply getting even epics from 1.1-1.3 because race packs suck.

You can get epics and even legendary cards from the reputation shop.

Until you discover that past reputation level 30 you can only raise your rep with Legendary cards, of which you will have 1, maybe 2 in your whole collection. The rest won’t count for your rep. In other words, you need legendaries to be able to buy legendaries.

Then we have auctions that allow you get epic, legend (I believe they are called) godlike cards.

So you, as a free player, can still get epic, legendary and even godlike cards to play with.

Please let me know how it is to grind your ass off for a whole month to get +4 hp on one copy of one card because you got the legend version from AH. And also how many legendaries other than centaur guerrilla leader and prince serka you find for less than 300 gold

I don’t need to do quests to get good cards, there are plenty of options that I will unlock as I progress through the game that will allow me to get better cards (alchemy, reputation, higher level city hall (for more silver))

I really don’t see a problem with this.

definitely a 2-day experience totally qualifies you to have an opinion. Please come back when you discover the multiple caps in terms of game experience that free players have.

not really. The idea is to empty people’s gold reserve, so they have no choice but to buy more gold or stay capped. The whole “AH not valid” is a dead giveaway.

If I purchase gold (as in previous events) and spend it on AH, Devs get their money, I get the promo card, and another player gets rubies when I buy his card. Additionally, I make progress towards my VIP status.

With this idea I spend the gold in packs, get the promo card, and nobody else benefits from the transaction. That’s how you decrease the playerbase overall buying power, thus forcing them to pour more money into the system.

The joke is definitely on us.

why so mad? This game is very obviously geared towards pay2play (not even pay2win).

As a NIP you get your progression severly capped at most aspects of the game, so yeah, it’s gonna die pretty fast; there are just not enough wallet warriors to keep this going.

Hearthstone is coming out soon-ish though, and so far it is truly free to play

Different on the quality of the enemy cards, (purples where they had blues, etc) but the overall style remains the same. Oh and bosses have more hp on hard. Dont know if they pack more cards.

I don’t know why there is even an argument on this. It is all part of a not very elaborate money grabbinig scheme.

Anyone with a spare brain cell understands that in any T/CCG, spending more money means advantage. Anyone who doesn’t like that is better off away from fantasy card games, virtual or printed. Personally I am ok with this, and I rate CCG’s based on how much they let me play/compete at the spending level I can afford. RoM has a ridiculously high entry cost at around $60 for VIP 3 if I’m not mistaken.

About 1.3, yes, it is about grabbing moar money.

I thought there were a lot of empty entries in my miscripedia considering I had all known/confirmed crits except 2 (and the ones in CoM), so I decided to compare the ingame pedia with the one in http://www.miscrits.com/miscripedia.html and it turns out that there seems to be room already made for several crits we assume are not in the kong version.

I guess the divide by 3 is because max score you can get with this system is 30 (elite all stats). To get a rating out of 10, you need to divide by 3.

I dont think you need to do a lot of math to conclude that 6 moderate is lower potential than 4 moderate, 2 strong.

This is the kind of item that becomes mandatory in arena. Without any intention to bash on you, it is a terrible idea for the PvP side of the game.

I wouldn’t object to it on PvE, but it reduces the demand for plat, and selling less plat means less revenue: I don’t see it happening the way you designed it.

If the potions sold for 1 plat, so for the same price you choose to heal to full after the battle, or to heal to 50% and maybe save that match… then maybe. In any case, PvE only.

On a positive note, I do like that you even thought of the color. I aprove of yellow.

The collector quests that reward platinum are not triggering the “reward pop-up” that you get with gold or miscrit missions, but as soon as you change area (or refresh in any other way) your platinum goes up. Maybe that’s what you experienced.

Definitely Dark Nessy shows up in Forest, that’s where I got mine. Only seen the one though, and I constantly grind the area where they spawn to power-level my crits.

Sparkslug is a Mt Gemma common; I find many of them around the Mountain where the elementum is. Yeah, the battles when you get something else are normally doubles, and very annoying.

Eggy is in Mt. Gemma too, but the process of looking for him is sooo dull. If considering pay areas, know that Eggy shows up rather often in Emerald Isle (4 times for me in around 2 hours of play)
