Topic: Kongregate / Should Kongai be taken down

Noo keep Kongai alive! It’s actually one of the best games on the site, and it is played, just not every day. I have just spent several hours playing Kongai against a skilled player from Georgia, we had great fun. Why on earth would you take down games at all? And why good, deep, strategic games? And why games that are being played?

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / [Proposal] Make the components buyable for 50 Loyalty each

I support this. This grinding seems excessive; a way to better motivate experienced players seems like a great improvement. It could also be good for the coffers of Synapticon, since experienced players generally spend more money on the game than new players, and this is a good way of keeping them aboard.

Sorry buddy, I couldn’t resist:

What’s worse, in my opinion, is the groups that openly put other languages in their recruitment threads. This shows an utter lack of respect for the major populace of [you probably mean “the majority of people on”] the forums, who are English speakers.

I am in no way implying that we should form an inquisition to banish the Brazilians, Asians, and Turks from the game that is rightfully ours; but I am suggesting that there should be some level of spelling/grammar based [hyphen required] moderation, since we know that the mods in the Tyrant forum are ridiculously overbearing.

Now, it would be very rude of me to point out such a problem without providing a solution: The [no capital] creation of non-English subsections of the forum to house the inferior those who do not speak English. This would allow us to use the forums in peace, as well as segregate the undesirables.

Imo the balance issue seems to be the game mechanic rather then the card itself.

Balance the current “OP” cards and all you end up with is the current 2nd tier group cards becoming the top tier due to the same old problem presented by the game mechanic.

When you’re talking about “balance”, it means to nerf OP things, buff UP things.

There is such a thing as overnerf (i.e. nerfing to the point of uselessness), and I’m presuming that’s what you’re refering to.

At this point, I think that there are alot of UP cards, that could be buffed. Considering that balance is relative, the options of “nerf all OP cards” or “buff everything not OP” are open, and I think the latter would be a better option for Tyrant to take now.

Anyway, nerfing any one mechcanic, is similar to nerfing all the cards benefiting that mechcanic (or buffing cards that are disadvantaged by it), and is not dissimilar to just outright pulling a nerf on all the cards with those abilities.

And you’d have to be really careful with changing mechcanics, because you could potientially create more balance problems than solve.

I don’t believe the concept of Counter is overpowered, simply that the cards they are placed on just have better stats.

I’m really hoping the devs actually do consider rebalancing stuff, or at the very least, consider releasing more cards that would have an effect on the meta. The newer raid cards I would say look to have more thought put into them, but the game needs alot more of those types of cards.

Well said.

I think buffing UP cards would be more work; 90+ % of all cards are UP, so where to start? And it would be more dangerous, because, if you made just one of those cards too powerful, you might destroy all variation in the meta-game.

On the other hand, it is fairly obvious that a limited number of cards are OP now (notably Pummeler, and what about Colossus?), so that it is easy to see where we should begin. And if Pummeler should somehow be nerfed too much, it would drop out of sight; but the other strong cards would still be there, and there would still be variation.

The greatest problem seems to be a few spam decks, including Draco-Pumpool and Yurich-Colossus. So it would seem an excellent and safe idea to start with restricting the number of the same card used in a deck. I think 3 would be a good idea. As an alternative, only some cards could be limited; instead of “Unique”, a card could have a stat that says “Only 3 per deck of this card”.

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / [Dev] Faction Wars balance change

Certain defense decks seem to have become a bit too powerful with this change. I feel that perhaps Irradiated Infantry and the buildings with strike 4 are now too hard to counter. Stalling now also becomes much easier. But perhaps some viable strategies against this will develop; we’ll see.

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / New update... Def decks go first.

I think it is good that winning when attacking is less easy in general.

However, it is bad that the wrong kind of defense decks are now even stronger, like the stall decks that just have all walled cards and the strike-4 buildings, and the Irradiated Infantry decks.

I also heard that the number of turns has also been decreased from 50 to 24!? I haven’t tested that yet, but, if true, it would suck!

There is a vote going on about what the best online gaming site is. The answer speaks for itself. I have already voted. If you already have an account at Lifehacker.com, you can vote; new accounts cannot vote, alas. If you decide to vote, please start your vote with “VOTE: Kongregate.com” (or whatever other site you choose to vote for, grrr…), and mind your language and spelling: we don’t want Kongregate to seem like a bunch of uneducated kids.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Kongai] Top 10 in full meta?

Gorbax will be in top 3, I think. Margo will be wearing Nails most of the time and will be high too. Agathe will start high but drop out of top 10 sooner or later. Balt will probably also drop out of top 10 after witches. If the beta is an indication, Ranec will rise.

I agree with Arthur that, though generally communication between Kongregate staff and users is excellent, keeping us more up to date about Kongai would be great: you wouldn’t believe the endless stream of questions about release dates we get all the time in Kongai chat.

Topic: Kongregate / Kongregate is Nazi?

Yeah don’t let any imbecile group appropriate symbols or phrases that are common property. Just because some Nazis use a phrase doesn’t mean we shouldn’t: on the contrary, the best thing to do is just ignore whatever they do. I suppose there are a few exceptions of the most well-known Nazi symbols, such as the swastika and the Nazi salute with arm up.

Topic: Kongregate / There needs to be some more chat mods

Yeah there will always be more spammers than mods, it seems. Game chats are notoriously unwatched, though I am often in Kongai Room #1. Quite frankly, though, I see much more spamming in non-game rooms than in Kongai 1, probably because people actually have a topic to talk about there, which is Kongai. In rooms chats, people are often not playing any game and thus bored enough to spam/troll.
