A “common” hero mechanic according to the stated newb-friendly aim would be reducing the cost of cards by 1, either up to a minimum of the cost of maxed cards (this would make it useless for max decks unless running multiple copies of cards) or for a limited set of cards (e.g. just rites for Daramek, serfs cost 0 gold for Vesp, skeletons and flowers cost 1 for Endazu). Similarly, offering access to rarer cards would be good e.g. starts with a random idol in play and restocks a random idol every 3 turns.

These mechanics are not very interesting or original but complicated abilities wouldn’t fit the role as a poor man’s beginner hero.

When I tried to close the tab for a game today I encountered this:

Does kongregate really support allowing games to do this? Speaking personally this kind of dialogue boxes carries strong connotations of malware and popup filled spam sites. I confess Kongregate dropped a little in my estimation seeing this.

Topic: War of Omens / how to trigger Concede button?

I believe there’s a few triggers for the concede button appearing, spitballing here but maybe enemy has lots of cards on the table, enemy health high, your health low, large number of turns already played.

The one you want though is to hit end turn 3(?) times in a row without playing any cards, I believe that does the trick.

Funny thing is, Goatrider actually was the way you wrote before, due to a bug. And people who thought it doged way to less were actually right. That was the way before it was fixed, before it was a way to weak card, now its IMHO a very powerful card.

I don’t like the randomness of it, it doesn’t feel daramek style. Its more a metris style action. I’d prefer if it would have 4 hit points and thats it. (on average it takes 4 hits to kill it)

the randomness actually fits in better with daramek than other factions because daramek has a lot of ‘return to hand on death xx%’ cards. metris has some too but already has frame anyway.

The intercept is the defining feature of the card. Just like giving food for metris or attack ignoring intercept for endazu, these factions have just one (at least very few) card with these features.

If it had 4 health cost is would be much better for sacrificing and you’d probably encounter them more. I’d be fine with this though the cost may be a little low.

Having said that, while I do dislike these luck based cards which make it harder to plan your moves (surely miracle is worse?), ultimately there’s inevitably a lot of luck inherent in the game anyway via drawing and stocking. Even the best player won’t win every time; they’ll just win more on average. It’s just the visible, memorable nature of running into this kind of unlucky streak that makes it more frustrating for players.

Topic: Outernauts / Leveling - Where to start?

You should level it up (to max, ideally, and steroid it) and then fuse it with the other one if your intention is making the main one stronger. Or just fuse it immediately if you want to improve its breeding chance. The boost to the main one’s stats is based on the sacrificed one’s stats.

Confirming, my way is faster. The strength of the barbarians faced when attacking someone’s island is based on your level and has a good chance of being a 3v3. So as soon as you have 1-2 strong squads with a third filler squad and have the portal attacks option available you can get the badge without much trouble.

Use the portal to attack somebody as soon as the option is unlocked. I got 2/3 by level 4-5 or so having bought 2 element standard boosters and a couple of random basics.

Sometimes I opened with vigil. Because it’s a strong all-round card and having two of them meant I didn’t have to tie myself in knots trying to keep it alive, although if I’d only had one I’d be saving it for a drop against the kind of cards you’re talking about. Dropping something with no offensive power like peace keeper has the risk of allowing them to develop a really strong card like vigil or draconian, with the heal from commander and 1 armor there’s a good chance a first 3 cards draw won’t have anything that can deal the damage to knock it out before activation. An enfeebler (or cyclone vs imperial) follow-up helping a lot. Mortar is easily my preferred opening though.

Maybe I did play the deck badly, I did get quite a few unlucky match-ups. Note: anyone playing baldy probably has an emp and 2+ good assault rares.

… ouch. Had to fight fory top 50%. The deck looked good but ended up sucking rather badly. Lacked siege, speed, and action cards.

Yes. Here’s a non-payer’s perspective.

More focus on the multi-player aspect is needed. We need more enclave sealed calibre material. The rest of the game is uselessly circular grinding to optimise grinding, unless you play standards, which lack the balance to be interesting. Adding new chapters to the campaign isn’t lengthening the endgame. And if the game is good – has depth* – then the community will ensure the pvp aspect remains rewarding for a long time to come.

*PS: it doesn’t, due largely to balance issues

Precisely this and in this order. Only other likely specific needs may be hellions for skimmer decks, stavros for wall decks.

These were 1% (3rd) and 10%, the hw only playing 40 or so minutes but I think I would have struggled for 5% – needed a second blitz precursor really, bad draws would allow a QB to decimate me.

It usually leaks through when a game is designed with monetisation at the forefront of game design. Games like Farmville probably have a bigger team of psychologists than devs. I’ll leave it to you to determine which decisions are made with what in mind in Tyrant’s case, gameplay vs profit potential.

It’s rare for me to feel unsure about what cards to pick, I post this selection because it was an exception. An unusual deck for the number of paired cards (hatchet+malort, righteous+rally structure, raiders+rally structure, xeno+rally structure) didn’t have time to actually play this tourney properly though, I did get a couple of matches in. I’d be interested to know what you’d play here, and how many cards to take, considering too many will block the pairs but as the cards are weak you easily get nuked out early, the deck’s very reliant on a strong start.

The only challenge here would be balancing killing too fast with allowing a couple of nasty units to activate and work they’re way through your team. Considering II spam is a decently strong deck for 170 though you’ll probably just get it in passing.

I think this achievement was intended as a homage to to II spam.
