Topic: General Gaming / RawrfulCast Raffle

I, RobRawrful, am offering the lovely members of Kongregate a raffle for a free game on Steam (or elsewhere, as long as it’s easily giftable) to the price of up to $10.

All you have to do is:-
1. Subscribe to my YouTube channel. Here’s a pretty link: http://www.youtube.com/user/RobRawrful
2. Send me a message on here telling me what SeRawr is and your YouTube name. Specifically it’s what Sarah’s said up to the end of Pt 6 of Wyv and Keep, and I think I summarise it quite nicely in the middle of the series. Here’s a link to my profile: http://www.kongregate.com/accounts/DevouringPlague
3. Sit back and wait for me to draw the lots.

I’ll be using random.org to do the drawing of all entries which qualify. The top lucky person will be getting the prize. If interested, the next two can get five weapons from my TF2 backpack, or take all my chests off me. Closing date is the 18th of March.

Thank you and good luck!

I have no idea. Obviously it works for some and doesn’t for a lot of others. Just look at some of the comments.

Topic: Kongregate / Skyrim Quest Badge Broken

It’s been broken since the quest started and no one’s mentioned fixing it.

Specifically, the badge for the Health part of it on The Legend of the Golden Robot ( http://www.kongregate.com/games/Rob_Almighty/the-legend-of-the-golden-robot?tab=achievements ). That’s the second badge along. It’s just not possible to receive the badge.

If you don’t know what this is, you should immediately drop all plans and start reading it (you have to kinda force yourself through Arc 1, at least until it starts to speed up).

Homestuck is absolutely amazing.

Questions? :P

I’m sure you can afford that. And useless legendaries? I’m sorry but no legendary is useless.
Unless you’ve never bought a gold pack before and you can’t build a deck, I’m sorry but this game seems to be too difficult for you. Be more creative and even with cruddy commons and stuff you can build a deck to get much higher than 50% win rate.

Considering I’m rather good at MtG etc, I seriously doubt that. Maybe you should go try a card game with actual strategy in card choice and overall game play instead of a 10 card game.

Suggesting a deck would help if we knew what level you are/how far complete with the game. I’m going to assume you aren’t very far along, because you are still using a sawblade rush deck. Instead of farming for gold, you should focus on completing more of the game. Some of the best cards are reward cards. If you are really hard up, and can’t finish the levels, try to do a few achievements. A lot of them give gold. I wouldn’t focus on farming for gold until you are complete with all missions. By then you will have Predator, Rifter, Poseidon, Mawcar, etc. to be able to put together a good rainbow deck.

I’m getting past Mission 42 at the minute.

Notable commanders: Freddie, Sidoze, Thadius, Bloody Mary, Natasha, Malort.
Notable units: Nimbus, Tiamat, Arc Trooper, Jet Trooper, Malgoth, Apex
Notable lacks: Impulse Walkers, Rally Flags, Vampires, Irradiated Infantry, pretty much every recommended commander and unit that forms the staple basis of a decent deck

The reason why a trading system isn’t implemented is probably because of the potential abuse it can cause. There’s tons of players cheating right now, and the developers are working on fixing bugs and preventing any forms of cheating. Making cards tradeable would open many new possibilities and benefits, but the risk is too great. This idea has already been suggested; let the developers decide what to do next.

Right now, farming gold and buying card packs doesn’t seem to be such a great issue as you describe. If you need help, there are many forum threads dedicated to creating decks and tips for gameplay.

Read them all and I can understand the basic tactics thank you very much. The issue is with a lack of decent cards to round out my deck.

So, any suggestions, ladies and gents?

Sorry, but that’s just plain bad. “Not having enough decent cards” is no excuse. And this topic has been discussed at length; it wouldn’t make sense to implement trading.

Hey, man, I’m running a 6 Sawblade/2 Cerberus/2 Harbor Command deck. Feel free to suggest something for my shitty collection of cards and useless legendaries. I don’t have any cornerstones for successful builds (hi Atlas / Dracorex / any other decent commanders) so I’m stuck with this for now.

Hell, I don’t even have enough vampires to do a decent vampire rush build.

It’s ridiculous.

There’s a reason CCGs are often called TCGs and that’s because trading cards is a fundamental part of the playstyle.

The lack of this in Tyrant is a major flaw as I’ve found to my detriment. I’ve basically exhausted all the possible cash I can get without farming the same (50% success rate mission due to not having decent enough cards) for a few months to get another tiny pack with barely any cards and doubtfully any useful ones.

And yet I can’t get any decent cards from other players through trading because… Well, just because?

Topic: General Tyrant Discussion / Making Gold?

I’m stuck at around mission 42 with a sawblade deck that can barely do anything against my latest enemies (and was struggling for the past 20 levels or so) but I don’t have any of the required cards for the other “winning” decks.

How can I make gold easily to buy packs and should I focus exclusively on gold packs or should I save up for Enclave?

I mean, it wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so obvious how lazy the developer had been. Like shoving a mine in the mirror reflection right in front of the portal whilst the rest of the dangers are in the main one. Or starting a level off in a field of spikes that can be easily avoided if you tap right once. What’s the point in either of these other than a single cheap kill?

Alternatively, the developer could clean up his terrible controls a bit instead of expecting players to compensate for it.

Fake difficulty is where, instead of introducing a challenge, the developer piles on as many numbers / handicaps as possible. Kind of like basically coating the walls and floors with mines / spikes / fire traps (what’s the point in these? is it just to give variety in the way you die? they’re not at all different from each other) instead of introducing a challenge where you have to observe patterns and make your way through.

The second half of Gauntlet Level 3 is an example of a half-decent challenge, but otherwise it’s terrible.

http://www.kongregate.com/games/PsyFlash/visible-iii

This game is honestly the worst example of fake difficulty I’ve ever seen on Kongregate and that’s saying a LOT.

Not only are the controls absolutely terrible for a supposedly precision game (seriously, they’re awful) but the makers seem to assume that putting as much shit as humanly possible into a single level will make it perfectly difficulty… Instead of trying to, you know, give a reasonable challenge.

Combine that with being unable to return to your game on the Gauntlet levels (yes, they’re a gauntlet etc etc, but this is still retarded) and you have one (if not THE) worst “difficulty” games I’ve ever seen on Kongregate.

Anyone else played it?

your OPINION, even though it is valid, still sounds like you are moaning about parodies… sorry if you didn’t find em funny mate but seriously is it worth whining, and proving that you are a hypocrite, on the forums?

“If you feel like that, then don’t play the game.” is not an opinion, it’s a stupid defence used by people who have no actual defence for the criticisms.

See Twilight and Eragon’s fanbase. “WHY DID YOU READ THE BOOK IF IT SUCKS?!”

God damn it, I hate whiny developers.

“I MADE A TERRIBLE DERIVATIVE FLASH GAME AND THEN PEOPLE CALLED ME OUT ON IT IT’S NOT DERIVATIVE JUST BECAUSE IT’S EXACTLY LIKE THAT FAMOUS GAME IT’S COMPLETELY ORIGINAL YOU’RE JUST A MORON

The worst ones are when they make games that try to take the piss out of the audience and the “nerd” character actually has a point. Homerun in Berzerk Land as an example. The fat nerd complains about the game being shit as an attempt of parodying the usual replies developers get from people.

But… He has a point. The game is pretty god damn poor, nevermind other ones you see get released from these guys.

Does this piss anyone else off? Flash developers being full of themselves and attempting (and failing) at taking the piss out of their intended audiences? Or is it just me?

Elements HAS mulligan. It’s just that you don’t hear about it. And it will leave you not with a hand with towers, but with your second redraw. That means that if you don’t have a tower/other 0 cost card, then you redraw. And you keep that hand no matter what. If you have no towers in 14 cards, then your deck is unbalanced. Read before commenting thinks like “too much random”. It works exactly like the first MtG mulligan.

The first MtG mulligan was changed for a reason. You can still start off with a single tower whilst your opponent starts off with four, resulting in a face smashing. Sure, there’s a chance this would still happen, but it’d be less of a chance.

The game wouldn’t be very fun if you got to push your way at the start of a game to the draw of your choosing. It’s called probability. If you really don’t like your draws, just get out of the game and try again. And the cards are quite unique indeed, there are 12 different elements for lord’s sake! Around 10 cards each Element.

You just need to allow players to redraw once. I’ve gotten hands of all black dragons and I was royally pissed off since in any other CG I’d be able to redraw my hand at the start.

“Getting out of the game and trying again” doesn’t really work if you’re going to lose a massive score because of it. A bit of thought in design would’ve sorted this problem out.

10 cards of each Element isn’t massive, but that’s not important to what I’m saying. The elements don’t REALLY have a specific “flavour” or “strength”. To compare with good game design, have a look at MtG. The COLOURS have their own strengths and weaknesses, instead of being all very bland. I know this game is trying that, but the current cards just aren’t up to scratch.

I’m using regular old fashioned Monodark and have a 3:1 win-loss ratio. I would have a 5:1 one, except for the fact that I drew a ridiculous starting hand in those cases and therefore got screwed over royally.

To be honest, at this moment in time, this game is terrible.

The game is far too random (there’s a reason Magic the Gathering has all those “search your deck for X and play it” cards) and doesn’t even allow a person to redraw a new hand at the start of a game. Do you know how much of a problem that is? Really, that’d fix 90% of the game.

TL;DR: Randomness is a problematic factor in a potentially competitive game and anyone who says otherwise is being ridiculous. The game should be about outplaying your opponent, not outplaying the RNG.

Oh, and there’s not enough of a distinction (no real “flavour” and the various scattered cards don’t count) between the elements. If you’re going to name your game after them, make them unique.
