Topic: Game Programming / What's with all the hate on Unity?

I’m using a piece of shit 3 year old computer that can barely play any of the newer installation-required games, but most of the well made unity games are fine and never crash and don’t lag. I have been using unity for the last… 2 years? I may not make the games, but as a user, I am incredibly satisfied with Unity itself. I wish there were more developers that utilized unity and it’s potential, but unity itself is amazing.

PS I have more lag playing Minecraft at lowest settings than playing Contract Wars at highest settings, which runs incredibly smooth.

I’ve been playing this game a looooooooooong time and I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this before.

A little button you can click to get AI (added to your AI upon soft reset). Definitely add a progression time, to avoid any exploits. This could help with early game progression, though shouldn’t be incredibly early IMHO. Looking forward to what you guys think.

Topic: AdVenture Capitalist / Bug confirmation: double offline gains

I couldn’t be bothered to do this but if you REALLY want to confirm:
1. Export your save file
2. Check your gains per day via Time Warp (no kreds necessary to check)
3. Close your browser
4. Change calendar by one day (forward obviously)
5. Reopen AdVenture Capitalist and check if Time Warp matches what you made
6. Import your old save to undo the cheating

First reset was at 27 AI, than at 291 than again at something like 530 (dont remember the exact number) than again at 1920 and I’m about to reset to gain another 2200. I’ve only played for 5 days though.

1. locate RVs and Capitals, similar to locate honor.
2. include a real penalty for attacking people much lower than you, like a combat penalty (-xx% melee, ranged and tool effectiveness or something like that) and perhaps remove that penalty if factions are at war.

I might add more later, for now, that is all i can think of that hasn’t already been stated.

first, if it came down to it, i’m sure someone in your alliance would be able to help you out. I’ve already had a minor war between me and and someone 30 levels higher than me. Didn’t whine, just used the resources available to me to hold my own and crush my opponent. Eventually he requested a truce because he didn’t like 5 level 10’s to 15’s constantly raiding his resources so that he couldn’t even recruit units or build tools. Sure, that took some time, total of 4 defeats before we were able to attack without any casualties, but I don’t think he’ll be bothering us again, at least not until he is able to better defend himself.

As for 3 months for a nice ruby building, this is like my 3rd day playing this game and i’m already closing up on having enough rubies for one. Add in the fact that I’ve already spent something like 500 rubies I’d say that’s fast enough. Most of the rubies I get from raiding other people, get a decent amount from the daily login chests as well and the level up bonus rubies help too, just not as much as constantly raiding my enemies.

Peace treaties, in the end, take away from the game. To be honest, I’m a little pissed they offer protection mode after the initial one wears off. Takes away from the game. There are a few things in this game I would change but reducing the costs of peace treaties isn’t one of them. Buying units with rubies, speeding up production and all that jazz. Luckily it seems that most of the people that do use rubies just use them to catch up to everybody.

There are many things you didn’t take into account.

sure, lvl 70s can attack lvl 30s but there is a cooloff period. Giving you plenty of time to put out fires and recruit additional units.

Considering the fact that after level 25 you can donate rubies to your alliance without having to buy rubies and the fact that there are quite a few ways to get free rubies, you should be able to renew the peace treaties that really matter.

If there’s anything else that you think is unbalanced, let me know and I’ll gladly show you how it isn’t.

I disagree with this post completely. The bigger games (that give people the option to use kreds to buy in game bonuses) would take their games off of kong almost instantly. Due to the fact that they wouldn’t be making any money and would probably, lose money. When looking for a benefit, please also look at the drawbacks. Kong needs money to stay up, needs more if they want to improve. I say, give kong what kong is due. If you want kreds, make a pay to win game, upload it and wait.

Tip: Placement is key.
Tip: Setting target priority can increase the effectiveness of your towers. For example, if monkeyA can pop lead balloons but monkeyB hits faster, monkeyA hits strongest, monkeyB hits first.
Tip: If you use dartling guns, your banana farms should be upgraded 2|4 so you don’t have to worry about grabbing bananas or boxes
Tip: Perfect Temple Gods requires 30000 spent in mortar/bomb, 30k in glue gunners, 30k in monkey apprentice and 30k in other towers.
Tip: If you want to build multiple perfect temple gods, do not buy the range increase for super monkeys.

I could see it work, if there was a timer (5 second pickup or something). Gotta keep in mind that this is a fast action shooter.

okay, but when the person carrying the flag dies, the flag should drop where the person died. that would be quite fun

If there is a 5 second pickup timer that would work, if time runs out flag position changes.

Topic: Elements / How do I get to 500 score?

I use pvp1. Simple enough, build a deck with 12 pillars, 6 graboids, 6 shriekers and a time mark. go to pvp1. win most matches. you’ll have 500 score in no time at all. Keep in mind that this game is pretty much rock paper scissors noob (so many noobish builds on pvp1) as far as pvp1 goes. PVP2 is like rock paper scissors lizard spock. You should have 500 score in no time at all. Oh yeah, don’t worry about selling any cards that you can later buy in the bazaar. Electrum is easy enough to get.

Training area same way. force fields for spawning areas all up (even training areas top access point) while carrying flag no abilities or attacks can be used. Thrusters/speed all the same. flag pick up should not be automatic (so people can just stick around and defend the area) but requires you to push a certain button, like ‘b’. The reason shuttle bay shouldn’t have it is simple, the map is to small and you’ll always know where the flag is – boring.

Topic: Astroflux / noob guide: the best of the best

Basically collect loot whenever possible, upgrade your weapons but not your starting ship as you’ll likely change one. It is better to move and shoot in order to avoid taking a lot of damage from multiple sources. But in a 1v1 duel, staying still will increase your accuracy and therefor your damage output. Even the weapon you start with can be quite effective. Don’t try soloing a boss, you’ll lose if you don’t know what your doing. The first 10 times or so you’ll definitely want to do it in a group.

heavier suits already go much slower, you try maintaining speed with blaster or tank. Lighter classes already go super fast, if you know how assassin can pretty much break the sound barrier. Scouts it takes some real skill. Basically: Learn how to play.

I don’t know any gamemode where sliding would be a real problem, even in TDM there are only a few places where sliding can really be used for a benefit, granted it’s right by 2 healthpads. Even in that situation controlling direction and maintaining speed is hard there, as there are a number of ramps that will slow you down considerably. Even in KOH shuttlebay your not going to really help at all if your sliding under the shuttle. No point of access as far as the interior of the shuttle goes. Killing people that just spawned is hard to, even blasters/tanks can get a good 90 MPH as soon as they spawn with the right technique. There’s a reason it’s called a fast action shooter. Sliding all over the place while keeping your momentum would take a considerable amount of focus and reduce your ability to kill. Take into account the people with 500+ ping and it can be risky. Sliding around taking damage from an unknown source. If you know how to slide properly, chasing after and killing them or simply getting off a few shots isn’t hard at all. The only class that I can’t build up momentum without using a ramp and well placed mid-air shifts (pushing the shift button) is the Blazer, but he deals an insane amount of damage and close range. Try using the heat ray while building the moment would be crazy anyways and if someone is sliding past you flamethrower should take out a decent chunk of his health if not kill him. Keep in mind that tanks and blasters generally speaking don’t do this. Even if a tank gets 100 MPH (takes a lot of skill and timing) in KOH, grabs megadamage, hes not going to be very useful as the amount of time it takes to get to the shuttle is pretty long, even than with a guy on top tanks a sitting duck waiting to be fried. Ultimately, there is always a way to counter sliding and therefor sliding does not require a ‘fix’

Gunners are the ‘girls’ of freefall tournament. You can see assassins if you know what to look for, than they are quite easy to get rid of. Perhaps it’s because your so far away that you cant see them. Best way to hide? Be on the edge of the map, run when someone comes. 1v1ing an assassin isn’t to hard, however, in a group, good luck xD

Pretty much every class is op in their own right. Look at the tech, capable of 1v1ing assassins while never even (directly) damaging them. suppressor3 with repair beam will heal both the suppressor and themselves, secondary heals are a little ineffective but thats where e comes in. f can also be used to lay a minefield. As far as I can tell, assassins e doesn’t effect suppressors. Sure, I’d rather have a full team blazers if it was blazers vs. techs but thats because short range, blazers would always kill techs. Assassins can take out blazers pretty quickly though. So Techs beat assassins, assassins beat blazers, blazers beat techs. Hopefully you’ll understand the class system now. It’s like any other class based game, it’s all one big game of rock paper scissors.
