Asexual reproduction? I remember reading a feminist article a while back that suggested that as a method of “liberation”. On the other hand, I think I found that by stumbleupon so it might not be exactly accurate.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Homework

Personally, I have like 6 hours of school, less when you consider Gym and Lunch aren’t really subjects. Currently I’m in all honors classes, and skipped a grade in math (Honors Geo ftw!).

On Tuesday, Thursday, and sometimes Friday I get two hours to do my homework. That’s before all the other school junk. I can think of a couple of days when I literally did not go home to my homework the whole day.

Yet, I usually manage it, even if I have to do it in the first few minutes of the class. My rule of thumb for homework is “If I can do it, don’t bother doing it.” Homework for me is an hour or so, depending on how much music I’m blasting at the time.

If there is going to be homework, there should be at least a limit of how much they can give you. More than once have I had a day where every teacher in every class decided it would be a great idea to give homework.

Same here, but you suck it up somehow or the other. And in New Jersey at least, we have a 45 minute rule for homework. That doesn’t seem to apply to anyone who skips grades though. China, you get around 4 hours of homework a day. That’s for the smart kids too, I knew one kid who stayed at school overnight when he had a lot of homework to save time.

need time to relax

This at least I can sort of agree with, as someone who has minor insomnia, I get 5-6 hours of sleep a day. A whole lot of procrastination goes into the time that I should be doing my homework.

Are you trolling?

You noticed?

And honestly, I don’t really do my homework reliably, because I know that I can do well in school without it. If you don’t need your homework and the extra review that comes with, go ahead, don’t do it. The stuff might not seem like ‘real world stuff’, but the skillz that come with are real.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Kongai] Kongai: Contribute your pre-made card decks

So, are we back to the standard CC, Yosh, Pheobe decks yet? Pshah, be original! Use the anti-CC/Yosh/Pheobe deck!

Rumiko with Scroll of Inner Focus: She rapes just about every single tank in the game (I’ve tested this against CC, Ashi, Helene, Onimaru, you name it) and most people start out with a tank. The secret? Poison dart and Ninja port give you excellent comboing skillz against tanks with low dark defense. Eviscerate if you think they’ll stay in, which is usually with a light, fast, character, and if it’s someone you simply can’t beat, switch out. MLM comes to mind. She’s also probably your best match up against CC.

One more thing, Rumiko is an ANNOYER, not a tank. Keep switching her in and out, but for the love of Christ, try not to let them switch in Ambrosia or Yosh on you.

Anex with Valkyrie’s Feather: An excellent, if under used card. Send her in on someone’s who’s almost dead, then go to long range and use Boomerang Chakra on them. There’s no dodging that. She can also be switched in at long range for Power Toss, which is pretty godly. Chakra Slash should be a last resort unless you’ve Enchanted, in which case 28 damage is pretty decent. Her ability is pretty pimping too, an extra 50% damage when you’re under 30% hp. For her, that equals 23 or under. When you get to that stage, one power toss will do 87 damage. Yeah, that’s right. Your anti-Pheobe character.

Ambrosia Thorn with Necromantic Tome: The standard sweeper character, send her in against characters with low hp at close range. She’s got excellent healing abilities like this, with Vamp Kiss, which allows her to take on most tanks. Spiked boots shouldn’t be used too much, but Bleeding Ritual gives you a long range option. 24 damage over 4 turns. Your anti-Yoshiro character.

The cool thing about this deck and the reason it’s good for beginners is that it has 2 attacks that can hit a fleeing opponent, which means you don’t have to guess as much what they’re going to do. This is my main deck, and I’m proud of it.

NECRO! A what, 2 month revival? Lol.

Yeah, that about sums things up. The Internet I find to be a place that’s slightly more lighthearted than real life, although the SD forum is pretty much who I am. Serious, a little depressing, and quiet.

Wait, so then how would we get into a war with Germany? Are you suggesting like a delayed Pearl Harbor or something?

At that point, Japan and the U.S. were the biggest powers in the Pacific, and Japan was on a war of conquest. Sooner or later, they were going to run into us, and they decided that to change the odds they would sneak attack us while most of our fleet was in harbor at the same place. If Pearl Harbor hadn’t happened, and they had just plain declared war on us, I think we would’ve won a lot faster.

Britain was in debt, and that was after the U.S. signed the Lend-Lease Act, pretty much ripping up our neutrality and siding with the Allies. Where do you think the supplies for the British army came from?

You guys were taking losses all across your colonies, the real source of your power, and the only reason you managed to “level off with them at the middle” was because we started supplying you guys. There was simply no way to resupply from your colonies with the U-boats and their navy surrounding them.

Either way I’m happy. I wouldn’t have been born if Hitler came along, but if I was I would be German and that would rock and we would have a damn fine empire, and soon we’d be better than the US and we would pwn you noobs! :D

I dunno, I think the Japanese getting creamed in the Pacific (long run at least) and the nukes would’ve leveled things out at least a little bit.

Um, wow… my perspective on the game is kinda skewed. I found it EASIEST to beat the game with a psionic. I think it might have something to do with the small cooldown on psionic blast and wall of atoms which allowed me to practically walk through everything.

The technotrolls… I had no idea what the big deal was until I read some comments. The way their attack pattern works is slap/spank, two moves, than slap/spank, and so on. Just slow them before the slap/spank, and immediately stun afterwards. At that point you should try and hit them with everything you have, before another round of insanity.

Timer: Yeah, it’s 60 seconds. But you don’t NEED to wait 60 seconds to do a move. Try to play fast and choose your move in 10-20 seconds. Unless it’s a special case, playing fast is better for everyone.

Switching: I disagree with you on this one, because I built my whole deck on this strategy. Rumiko and two characters who can ignore switching work well for me. And fighting like a man will get you K.O.ed real quick against CC.

Helping noobs: Ok, this is iffy. Yes, newbies need some kind of advantage. If they have no idea what they’re doing, they will get smashed. Unfortunately, Kongai has some element of luck in it and letting a newbie PB you is a good way to lose fast.

Stalling: Don’t. Just don’t. It might win you a game or so, but sooner or later people will get annoyed enough that they’ll wait out the minute by minute games just to own you and gloat about it for the rest of your life.

Trash-talking: You have the right to brag about it, but please keep it in-game and on IRC. Nobody wants to hear your ‘OMG I just killed MARIO!!!’ spammed all over the message boards.

Kicking people: FFS, play the damn game. You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve been kicked from games by people who are just a few level away from me. It’s not even all that good of a ranking system. Don’t judge people by how long they’ve been playing Kongai.

Erm, I was running FF3 for a while, and I can’t get any of the website to load besides the home page. I kept getting the 400 error, same goes for the forum. No addons, nothing and it didn’t work, which is why I’m writing this from IE7 >_<. Still, from an aesthetic sense I like this one a lot more. Much more streamlined.

Topic: Kongregate / How would you "clean up" the site?

Oook, omgwtfbbqzorz… please try and take the effort to spell properly. I know you can spell, but when you don’t, it makes people disregard you offhamd.

Having said that, I think user moderation is probably the best idea I could come up with. A system that lets you flag posts/comments/whatever for spam. No mod call button, people would start pushing the button for fun. Trust me on this one. For the exact same reasons people pull on fire alarms. The whole level thing is also kinda awkward. If you haven’t seen the ‘anatheawesome’ and her many alt accounts, its an interesting loophole. Most of them were level ten, they used a cheat editor to obtain several SAVE STATE impossible badges, and yeah, instant level 10 accounts. I doubt it could be that much harder to do the exact same for level 15+.

I can think of a couple of problems off the top of my head though. In my main 2 rooms, Pride and a Chinese-English room no one’s ever heard of, you get maybe 20-30 people on at a time. And maybe 90% of them are AFK. There’s not enough people to get a mod report or anything, and we mainly just want to be left alone and relax with each other.

But besides that, I can’t really think of anything else that might work better. I dunno, a typo detector? A certain number of typos and your post gets insta blocked? That would’ve solved Iam2cool’s entire thread. =)

My dad’s in China for pretty much the whole year, and my sister is in college now. It might not be the same thing as what you’re going through, but please try not to end up like me.

Find people to talk to about it, it doesn’t really matter who. What’s important is that you find a way to get it off you chest. There will be times when you cry yourself to sleep, times when you just sit there remembering how they could just change your day, times when its only you in your house and there’s just this empty silence.

Don’t let them get to you. Try to talk to as many people as you can and hope to forget about it. Pick up something you can do in your free time, like learning guitar or something. You’ll find a lot of that in your life. But whatever happens, whatever you do, try not to let the loneliness set in. It’ll completely ruin your life. Take it from me.

Why you don’t want to be a Mod:

By the time you’re responsible enough to be a mod, you probably already do all that stuff anyways. All being a mod does for you is give you a group of wannabe mod stalkers.

By the time you’re that responsible, you’ll be too responsible to swing your banhammer around, and that’s half the fun of it.

Need I go on?

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Kongai] Kongai Decks

My deck is… more of a counter strategy that an actual strategy.

First is Rumiko with the scroll. If she sees someone who’s good at melee, she goes to far and switches out to my next character. If not, go for 2 eviscerates in a row. Ninja-port stops CC and shurikens work well on anyone with less than 4 physical defense (pretty much everyone besides Onimaru and Helene). That includes Yoshiro and Pheobe, two popular choices. Poison Dart… well, at least it gives you something against Tafari.

Anex with the Valk Feather is an unusual one, but I use her as my finisher. If you go after someone with her, no guessing about whether or not to intercept. Just keep pushing the Boomerang Chakra. Enchant Blade is pretty useful, giving Chakra Slash and Boomerang Chakra 8 more damage, and changes their attribute to light. Not useful as a short-term thing, but if the enemy is Oni or something, it’s great. Her last move, Power Toss, is frigging amazing. It does 58!!! physical damage, and when her ability kicks in, 87!!!!! Yeah, that’s right. Kills off everybody in the game besides Onimaru and Helene, and it’s my Pheobe counter. Switch her in, and if you don’t get stunned, the special will kick in saving your ass. She’s a great suicider, since if her hp drops beneath 30% (23), her damage increases by 50%.

The last one can be anyone with decent dark defense, but I use Ambrosia Thorn. She’s an effing lesbian tank, especially with her spiked boots. The Necromantic Tome works well, and lets her survive off of Vampiric Touch.

Unless I’m missing something, if you want a concealed carry permit, don’t you need to demonstrate proficiency with the weapon? Most states require that you take a training course of some kind, and in Texas I think the only ones who can have a concealed carry are ex/current policemen and ex military. [EDIT: Nvm, wrong state. In Texas you just have to take the course]

Second of all, where the fudgenits is a kid going to get body armor? Our troops in Iraq can’t get it, so lemme guess… they’ll buy it off ebay? Body armor goes for around 300$ over there.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Cannibals

I think the point is that the image of eating someone is drilled into you to be either
A. Hannibal Lecter-style, you know, the line where he says “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.” And if you haven’t seen the movie, it’s just plain creepy. Not something you want to be associated with.
B. The Hills Have Eyes-style (might’ve gotten the movie wrong), where you have the dirty savage eating the guy while he’s still alive. Not pleasant either, and again, the mutants are the “bad guys”, so anything they do must automatically be bad.
C. Western Redskins-style, where you have the Indians eating the flesh of the “white man”, and they specifically make those scenes to be shocking to sell movies.

The media has kinda conditioned you to thing it’s gross or yucky or something else like that. I personally think it’s wrong to go cannibalism, but if someone specifically asks you to do it, I’m pretty sure that’s assisted suicide, and is illegal. The act of killing the dude is wrong, but not eating him as far as I’m concerned. Once he’s dead, he’s just another lump of meat like beef or something. It’s something entirely different to kill the guy and THEN eat him, though.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Should we leave these people alone?

I say that we should leave them alone, or at least try to. Remember the Native Americans? Currently, we’re the scientifically advanced Europeans, and we meet them. Bam, we end up exploiting them, taking over their land, driving them to extinction, stealing their food, and dropping them in reservations, where their primary source of income is having people came and stare at them. Not good. Sure, we might give them some medicine or something, and try to give them more sanitary conditions, but that would be ripping their culture away, the way the U.S. tried to “americanize” the natives.

To apply this to your alien metaphor, would you want them to come down and attempt to teach you at a cost of your freedom, your culture, and oh right, over 9/10th of your race’s total population? You might argue that the aliens would know better, but hey, we think we know better than the Europeans. We’re not perfect as a culture, so who are we to say that theirs is worse?
